Right now I'm sitting on the floor of my room, my room's a men, and I'm listening to music about lost love and loneliness. I have literally no motivation to study right now. I just want to sit on the floor and do nothing. I really need this flatline to end, I have to get back to studying. I have so much work/studying to do yet I couldn't do it for the past three-four days. I'm on day 33 by the way on hardcore mode. I just want to know if this is a flatline or just me being depressed from other internal factors not relating to PMO.
Why else would you be so depressed? It sounds very much like a flatline.. and remember you are important, so try and relax. No matter how much the work load.
My brain is telling me that if I was back on PMO, I would actually get work done. The moment when everything matters this happens. I can't study for more than 15 minutes. It's funny because I remember practically everything I studied in those 15 minutes. This really isn't good. I'm taking the MCAT soon.
Also, why has my attraction with other women disappeared? I used to get glances everywhere I went on nofap. Now I don't get any. What gives?
Maybe your positive/confident aura is gone for now, I am not sure. Don't dwell too much on it, stares aren't all that important anyway. Whatever you do, do not masturbate at all. That will ruin your studies more than help it.
You need a little break. Don't focus so much in your studying, focus on yourself. Good job on your progress.
Mate you have to realize how damaging porn addiction is... it completely warps your mind. This age we live in with Internet and unlimited free content, it had absolutely screwed people up. They do it for years and just get so conditioned away from reality. I have been in recovery for 20 days and I have been going through the same things as you. I believe it is the flatline that is causing this. I watched porn yesterday and I felt even more depressed this morning. Just have the attitude that no matter what, you will not watch porn.
Its a matter of motivation plus mood to be honest.i havent slept well last 3 nights.Thats flatline but who but i can also be as im readjusting my schedule yeah?.Flatline includes mood but its over rated from my correct prespective.you might find better study tactics helpfull. For one, study 45 minutes rest 15.or 25-5 or anything you like. Thanks!
DonDraper, Flatline is a bitch. Don't worry it takes time, everybody is different. Mine took almost 60 days to go away. I'm getting better by the day and still feel that it could come and get a grip on me back again. Just don't try to focus too much on it. Take a few minutes to concentrate on your breath, clear your mind and just try to go back to studying slowly. What I'd suggest is just take it a notch down. Instead of going full steam, just try and do it without that much pressure, as mentioned above, give yourself small objectives and build your confidence on those. Baby steps. Flatline is necessary, just go with it. It's normal. Perhaps, take a few reads on posts related to that, you will see most people get through it, for some it's a matter of weeks or months and a few even years. One last point, don't let your mind make you believe that PMO will resolve anything. This is your brain trying to trick you. If you give in, you'll just put yourself to a never ending spell of relapse and flatline to come. As always: Stay Strong! Mauro.
Stay strong! It does not feel good. It passes. Enjoy the lack of urges and triggers, but don't get complacent. This may not be your last flatline. You will be better prepared for the next one. Stay strong. Keep hitting the books, and try hitting the gym.
Day 20! Found NoFap in mid Dec For me took a few 3-10 day streaks (planned on that). No jacking off for me is like a huge catalyst for change. Getting shit done. I guess i am in flatline but I'm taking it well I still get morning wood. Or does that mean I haven't even flatlined yet?
LucidBMX, I had morning woods as well during flatline. At least you have this good to start well your day
You might want to pick something more upbeat. Just saying. You don't have to go hip-hop, but, if you aren't into depression, you might want to rework your favorites list.

Sounds like a bad case of Dopamine Deficiency Syndrome. You need to replace the bad habit of PMO with a good habit that sets dopamine free in a healthy and moderate way, like working out, running (or any other kind of sport), the creative arts. Get some new hobbies and get out of that room. Socialize (if you don't know how, one of those student jobs might be a good starting point to meet new people). Also, you may wanna try studying in the university library. You can't just sit on the floor there. Plus, you get some fresh air on your way there and are likely to be much more disciplined in your work ethic once you're there for the specific purpose of studying (as opposed to sitting alone in your room where you can dress (or not dress) and behave like you want to and have all those distractions (including your thoughts).
