Lack of sleep, usually caused my mind chatter, seems to be a bigger trigger for me than anything. Like, I'm in bed, restless, my brain is working overtime and nothing seems to allow me to switch off. After a while my thinking invariably turns to "knock one out, it will help you to sleep" -- and several times over the last couple of years I've done just yet and the cycle has started again. So what do you do when you can't sleep and you're stuck with a busy brain?
1. No technology use before bed (Read a book, write, study, meditate, etc.) 2. Workout 1-2 hours before bed if you can. 3. Watch out for sugary foods an hour or two before bed. 4. Try drinking tea if all else fails. hopefully, one of these will work for you . . .
If you live in a cannabis-legal state and you are of age, I would recommend smoking/consuming marijuana cause it will give you the best sleep ever and stop yourself from thinking so much.
I don't touch recreational drugs, ever. It's not a legal thing -- I'm teetotal, drug free and vegan for ethical and personal health reasons.
