Hey everyone, my name is Peter, I am 24 yrs old, and I've had a problem with porn and masturbation since I was 8 years old. Throughout the years I have had temporary perdiods of victory over my urges, usually only about 1 month in duration, but never any lasting freedom or a full "reboot." I am a single guy and a believer in Jesus Christ as my savior, so I intend to completely cut out any ejaculation whatsoever until I am happily married with my future wife. So far, I haven't been able to achieve that on my own. This pattern has brought only shame and depression to my life, and I am eager to stomp it out of existence. The main thing I am seeking is a community of like-minded people for support and knowledge, and it seems like NoFap is a great place for that. Some other facts about me: I am a professional musician and educator, who primarily plays the drumset. I love fitness and have been lifting for a couple of years now, and I am a former endurance runner. I love Chipotle and Chick-Fil-A. Look forward to getting to know some of my fellow fighters and working to improve our lives together.
Welcome! If I might offer a suggestion: start a journal and begin reading others'. It has been very helpful for me to journal my thoughts and feelings whenever I've needed to make sense of them. In the process of journaling and reading others' journals, I have developed a circle of NoFap friends - a group who regularly reads my journal and whose journals I regularly read. Finding a circle like that is a Godsend, because it's difficult to find people in the "real world" who understand what we're going through. All the best!
I like that idea, thank you for sharing my dude! I know how powerful it can be to write out and share the things otherwise trapped in your mind. And I totally relate to that last statement. Societal norms make it so difficult to talk and share about this type of thing. On top of that, you have our culture that largely sees nothing wrong with porn and self-sex.. Which is just a tragedy.
Hi Pjdrummer! Welcome here. You will find the support and encouragement you need to succeed. You have to put in a lot of hard work. We’re here for you! I used to be a drummer in a jazz band but got rid of my set a while ago. I’m already thinking that I need to buy another, I just need a place for it!
Hello Peter, I'm new to this too. Taking my first day today, and I hope we'll overcome this challenge!
I agree with Tom. Journaling has been a big help for me too! It is a record of my progress, a place to organize my thoughts, and it helps those who follow me to provide insight and encouragement. I highly recommend this as well.
We WILL over come! Have faith brother, and it will happen. "I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you." - Matthew 17:20
Your prayers are appreciated! I in return will intercede on all of your behalf so that we can overcome. I believe a revival is happening especially amongst the men of faith. We will live lives of freedom and boldness, sharing the gospel and making the world a better place through Love.
