Sharing a Jordan Peterson Video

I honestly don't unerstand peterson success, there are and there has been many gurus who says the same things in better ways...

I mean, he doesn't say anything new or outstanding...

 

He's successful because he speaks well, and because of his politics. Alt-right is the political fad of the moment and he's basically a trad-con. If he'd been around in the early 90s, he would have been largely ignored. That said, if you ignore all the religious and political messages he's putting out there, he does have some good content in the rest of it.

 

Care to explain this alt-right political fad that is happening?
Do you understand what alt-right is, or are you someone that lumps all Trump supporters into one big giant bowl of racist, women hating nazis BeCaUsE tHaT's WhAt ThEy TeLl YoU tO tHiNk?
Perpetuating a massive misrepresentation of people that want their country to succeed is getting Trump supporters harrassed, denied service at places, & physically harmed.
Tell me, how did the "alt-right" act during Obama's presidency? Did they bite their tongues, mind their business, & be productive members of society or did they start riots, burn the flag, & threaten violence?
Critism of the extreme left while supporting the prosperity of our country & the foundation it was built on, does not make one "alt-right". Please be careful of the labels you throw around.

Jordan Peterson is phenomenal because of his knowledge & ability to see through the bs. Maybe that's why so many Trump supporters agree with him

Yep. If the "triggered" person had bothered to actually read my post they might have noticed that I didn't even mention Trump or take any position on his policies. American politics isn't even on my radar. But in fairness, I've said things that have seen people on the left get triggered equally irrationally. Both sides are as bad as each other, and neither group of keyboard warriors is worthy of a dignified response.

 

The guy reacted (wtf is this triggered BS) to your description of JP as being part of the alt-right...which makes no sense. I mean you describe him as trad-con in the same sentence...

I didn't say JP was part of the alt-right, which is why people should read posts before going crazy about them. I do believe a lot (though not all) of his fanboys are.

I also believe the alt-right is a political fad, much like a lot of the leftist political fads that came and went in the early 90s. I also think it will largely be gone within 10 years or so, like a lot of other fads that come and go with time.

 

At least have the conviction to stand over your comments.

Thank you for this video. I hadn't seen it. I was hoping to write a huge post in response (hence why I've waited so long to reply!) but I'm not finding the time to write it

The thing that helped me in this video is something that's been sadening me for a decade or so now. I'm 55. I'm gregarious, enthusiastic, creative, and clever. When I was young employers and colleagues saw me for my potential — I was defined by what I might achieve next. But now I'm one of the older folk at work that's no longer true. Now people see me as my experience and skills — I am defined by what I have already done. That depresses me. The Peterson video about Peter Pan, which @%32 posted, gives me a positive way to understand what has happened: I have made choices, and that was a successful part of growing up.

One thing that's odd is how much Peterson is hated by left leaning people:

yet I'm a leftie and I like Peterson. I disagree on some stuff he says, and I don't understand some stuff (so I cannot say whether I agree or disagree), but lots of it is spot on and very thought provoking. I've gleaned a long list of articles laying out why folk object to him. When I find time to read through them I'll come back with a summary.
