Hey guys, im looking for some movies that are set in ireland. I find the music, rolling countryside, and accents really soothing and i could use soothing right now...so, any suggestions?
Michael Collins, Bloody Sunday and Hunger But they're not very soothing since they're about the troubles but it's good to know about such things. Oh there's Brooklyn and In America and they have nothing to do with the troubles. You could always watch Foil Arms and Hog on YouTube
Darby O'Gill and the Little People There's always Father Ted if you're in the mood for a series rather than a movie
I heard of darby o'gill, but ive never seen it, thanks for reminding me. Just looked up father ted, it looks interesting. I wasnt expecting so many replies thanks guys.
Flight of the Doves is another one. Some of the scenes are unintentionally hilarious, in particular the big musical number You Don't Have to be Irish to be Irish. Dorothy McGuire plays the grandmother, thirty years after A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, and still looks great.
Not a movie, but a TV series by the BBC in the 90s called Ballykissangel. Filmed near where my friend lives in County Wicklow, I've been to that pub!
Cool, i like tv series because theyre nice and long. I liked monarch of the glen, its set in scotland not ireland, but it was a pretty good show (at least until the third season) Are you from ireland, or do you just have a friend there?
