Hi. I watched porn with masturbation for 5 years with the frequency of four/five times a week. I've finished to watch porn and masturbation for about one month. Now I have: lack of concentration, hot flashes "in the brain", social anxiety and depression. My questions are: are this symptoms linked to the porn/masturbation abstinence? Iif yes, how much time it take because these symptoms vanish? Thanks and sorry my bad english
Y Yes they are due to dopamine imbalance. It will take Atleast 3-5 months looking at your time period of 5 years. Dont relapse and keep going.
Hi there, going off your response, when you say 3-5 months for his 5 year usage, were you including his frequency? How long would you say it would take to recover if someone was using 4-5 times more than his weekly usage, for 5 years?
This is how I feel! Omg you hit the nail on the head. It sucks so much!! Anyone else besides me and him get this symptom?
There is no specific time you need to abstain for recovery, we are all different, although it is shown that older people tend to recover faster. Theres lots of research to be done if you are just starting out so be sure to check out yourbrainonporn.com for a start, theres also videos on that site and on youtube so its pretty easy to learn more about this addiction. For me personally i had all the mental symptoms for about 7 years. I was also getting frequent sex throughout my time with PMO so maybe that helped me in some way. Either way i was having a LOT of orgasms per week. I started having small PIED problems right at the end of this 7 year period and thats when i started looking at porn as an issue (before that i was going to many doctors to find out why i had all these mental problems). I started researching everything i could on no PMO and thus started my journey. My PIED problems went away almost immediately (about 1 month) but my real problem was getting rid of my mental problems, which are still in progress over a year later. Its different for a lot of us and i see a lot of people that are struggling mainly with the PIED problems.
Logic would argue 3 months of not fapping would change your baseline dopamine level significantly for the better but that may be just the beginning. Six months in you should feel even better. It keeps multiplying however life is not a picnic.
Depends on the individual I would argue. One cannot say it is the same for everyone, we're all different. Yet we share commonalities so for many 3 months will do wonders for dopamine restoration. I'd say years for a complete recovery yes. But recovery should be seen as ongoing. Maintenance is required even after years clean.
I’ve had Dopamine/Withdrawal symptoms for about that time, maybe less. It gets better on recovery. But people like us definitely need at least a year or two for a full reboot, maybe more.
Damn. So should I call off my wedding? Serious question. I’ve told her 90 days. I was using meds when we started dating and having sex like every weekend. Whenever she would tried to Uniate it and I hadn’t taken it I would fail to have sex or get a woody
Do the reboot. If you experience PIED, the 90-day reboot may be enough for you but to get fully healed, it can take up to 2 years. I hope to be healed after 1 year.
My situation is like this!!! After some weeks to stop PMO, I can't sleep, I've got anxiety and during night I am excited... It is very horrible! So I'am thinking to stop if this situation will not change in few days.... I need to sleep!!!
Do the 90 days before jumping to any conclusions. Remember PIED is a form of self harm we inflicted on ourselves.
