How would it be his fault? You're supposed to be looking where you're going. It's not that hard to see a bicyclist if you're driving responsibly and watching where you're going. They're legally allowed/supposed to be there, so it would be no different than you hitting another car because you weren't looking. Common sense says, if you have a driver's license, you should know the rules of the road and be capable of looking and being aware of your surroundings.
I agree that legally it would be your fault. Your personal opinion is irrelevant. My own opinion is that your argument is not common sense. Why can we not all use the roads with grace and patience?
I think if they are using the road, they should move to the middle of the lane and use the standard hand signals for turning and stopping. I don't mind that they are there, I just can't read their minds to know what they are going to do next.
Legally speaking, if a car is going under the speed limit and affecting the flow of traffic (almost every bicyclist) it is a traffic offense and a hazard. It's called impeding traffic. Its cool though, that was yesterday, nothing happened. Again, I wouldn't say that incident was my fault really, perhaps not in a legal sense (legality doesn't determine morality). Also if it was, it doesn't warrant the guy to snitch. Some people have no lives i guess..
Here bicyclists are not permitted to ride on the pavement and must ride about 1 meter from the curb on the side of the road, as well as going with the same direction as traffic. Unless of course it's a marked bike path or is shared which then they are permitted to do so. They're treated the same as a vehicle (which is a good thing) and if you hit a cyclist then you are 100% liable, unless it can be proven it wasn't your fault and he was just being a twat. Are you sure he was out of nowhere? Most of the time it's drivers failing to take the time to check the entire surroundings with not just cars but bicycles in mind as well.
I waited for a car to pass by and i took the left turn immediately after he did and the bike dude was right behind him. it's honestly whatever now. I wouldnt mind them if they had a marked bike path on the road with a barrier in between with those bumps to let you know if you're going off the road. idk if they're in Britain
The most comonly marked one I've seen about is this, not really where I live though. But if you're not in a big capital city like London or whatever, you'll be doing this.
Sorry dude, but that's not his fault. Not trying to beat you up about it or anything. Everyone makes mistakes like that. But it definitely wasn't his fault that you didn't see him.
In a legality sense, yes. If he was hit, there would be a mutual understanding if anybody has taken a general physics class. Legally I would be charged and perhaps rightfully so. But a car weighs 3-4 tons and a bicycle weighs 20 lbs. He needs to attend a physics class or 2. There would be an understanding between us. Why is this man risking his life and my traffic/criminal record? i don't know, some people are crazy. Again it wouldn't necessarily be his fault in a moral sense, but there would be an understanding
@Castielle leave you with one more thought. If bmx teen bikers were cruising on main roads impeding traffic would you be saying the same thing? Anyways, again, it's dope nobody got hurt or anybody has to deal with any bs legalities to something stupid like that. Life keeps rolling on
That's not what happened... you're just making up hypothetical situations to make yourself feel better about not taking responsibility for something that was clearly your fault. Just own up to it. You weren't looking carefully enough, and you didn't see him. That's all there is to it. Nothing about that's as his fault, in any way.
yeah it's not his fault. it would be my fault in the eyes of the law and perhaps a moral sense. I edited my post above. There would be a mutual understanding if you've taken basic physics. I take responsibility in the sense that I'm driving a tank compared to him. Perhaps i learned to look more carefully for oncoming unsuspecting dudes on a busy street. Hopefully he's learned some basic physics and will incorporate that into his routine. I don't know, that's up to him. Glad everything worked out. (except him being a snitch)
so if the driver of an 18 wheeler not paying attention almost hits you in your car, are you to blame for "not learning some basic physics"? ;)
Totally off topic but you heard coles new album it kind of made me look deeper into my porn addiction and other addictions
