BEWARE: The first couple of paragraphs contains what might be considered as triggers for some people.

So I'm just sat on my sofa partially watching TV, partially browsing NoFap, and I've just seen an advert for a show called 'Make or Break', and I won't go into too much detail of what it showed, but all I'll say is a rather attractive woman was laying in a bikini on her stomach, and the camera was looking from the rear leaving little to the imagination.

Literally minutes after that I saw an advert for the show 'Celebrity Big Brother', and this advert featured a woman on all fours (the camera again positioned behind her), and she was twerking in very short shorts.

Now, when I saw these, I just thought 'this is exactly the sort of thing I relapse to, and it's being broadcast on national television!'.

It make me realize that porn is literally everywhere these days. We punish ourselves for relapsing to porn, when in reality, we should be congratulating ourselves on avoiding it for any period of time. Even if you go a few days without it, well done! This stuff is everywhere, and the stuff I saw on TV tonight was more than a little revealing, I'd class this as porn.

Seriously, porn is everywhere these days. How are we expected to quit it when it's being shoved in our faces?!

This is an unfortunate reality, women are used to sell anything. As a Muslim I find it stupid how a women dressed in a hijab (her choice) is oppressed but using a nude women to sell can of drink is freedom/liberation.
Note; I don't care if a women chooses to be nude etc.. , but it doesn't hide the fact that her body is being used for advertisement, mens pleasure or to make money.

    Exactly.Spoke my heart out.

You open a newspaper and there it is,Photos of women, partially naked. You watch a friggin movie trailer same thing.EVERYWHERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It Takes courage to even think of quitting Porn in today's world to be honest.People think that it is the only goddamn stress reliever they can get.We all here at nofap have already won half of our battle by taking the decision of quitting, doesn't matter if you could go 1 day or 100 days,if we keep on trying we will be Porn free someday.

Exactly, I'd even go as far as saying that some adverts (in fact, quite a lot of adverts) objectify women just to gain more customers and increase profits. It's not good.

  9. I totally agree. It really takes courage to quit porn in today's world. Porn is promoted everywhere, doctors are telling you that mo is healthy which most likely would lead to porn addiction and plus pyschiatrist don't believe in porn addiction and the media promotes it all the time. It absolutely takes courage to quit porn when literally a lot of people think that it's normal and also it's promoted everywhere.

Yep.Trying telling someone that you are trying to quit PMO.Straight away you will get a tag of weird/psycho.They will look at you like you are a god damn alien. But it's just a matter of time when they hit the rock bottom by this addiction and trust me only few people (like us at nofap) have the courage to start and build their life up from the rock bottom.

You can avoid most TV adverts by using apps like BBC iPlayer or Netflix.
Advertising is very influential, avoid it wherever you can.
Also I think what you saw was on Channel 4, which IMO is a morally bankrupt TV studio. There is better stuff you can watch.

  12. Yes, objectification is everywhere. I saw an advert for a clothes company the other day whilst waiting for a train and it was a women with her legs spread, an ice cream in her mouth (suggestively) and a handbag between her legs. The thing with quitting porn or acting out with PMO is not acting on it or going out looking for it. Yes it will appear almost instantly sometimes infront of your eyes for no other reason than you happened to be in that specific place at that specific time. The difference today is that I no longer go out looking for it or spending inordinate amounts of time trying to obtain it, categorize it etc. As for TV, well I haven't watched TV in years, my TV downstairs sits there gathering dust because I watch what I want to watch when I want to watch it because of Netflix, Iplayers and Amazon etc and even you tube for some interesting documentaries. I avoid anything celebrity related if I can, day time trashy TV and the like. We all have a choice as to what we want to watch. I do think it's a shame that pornographic undertones in advertising and branding has become so intertwined and accepted in modern day culture, i think it affects how people see themselves and affects the people that our younger generation aspire to be. For a girl, advertising with pornographic undertones might make them feel the only way to get on in life is to be promiscuous and create attention based only what is seen on the outside. And for boys it could purvey the message that you are somehow not a real man unless you treat women in this way or have slept with x amount of hot babes which in turn affects the self esteem. When it comes down to it 'Don't believe the hype' those of us who are now aware of the media litteracy behind this stuff can see through it. It's the ones who can't, that take it on face value who consume without question who are affected the most.

I went to stream a comedy show the other day, when i clicked play, it opened up a window of porn, i felt so disappointed in that moment. However, i successfully closed it down without the urge to carry on, proud moment!

I've notice the same thing so many women barely have any clothes on that it has triggered me to fap not long after.

WHY DOES IT TAKE COURAGE?! I DON'T GET IT!

If we put our hands in the fire and it burns we pull it out. It's only natural.

If you don't get it then why are you at nofap? Can you imagine suddenly cutting a thing from your lifestyle which you thought of as a stress reliever? No you can't.That's why people can't quit smoking, alcohol, drugs etc.Porn Is similar, inface much more harmful.I don't really think i need to explain why it takes courage to quit porn or any other thing to which you are addicted to.

This is a good reminder for me. For some time this truth was on my mind. The truth that everyone uses sex to advertise but I stopped thinking about it. I think I need regular reminders to avoid PMO and falling for such advertising. Thank you.

I believe it was Channel 4, yes. I wasn't watching it, I think my dad had the TV on and I just happened to look up at the screen at the wrong moment.

I really don't watch TV, I prefer to watch YouTube videos such as Vlogs etc.

Couldn't agree more. Men are constantly being pressured in this day in age to pick up and sleep with as many girls as possible, which imo is also a huge contributor to male porn addiction. We feel like it's something we have to do as men, and we only feel this way because of society's warped image of 'manhood'

I can relate. I always try to close pop-ups as soon as they open because I know I'll just want to see more. Well done for closing it tho!
