I don't suffer from typical porn-addiction problems

Like the title says, I don't really have any of the problems fellow fapstronauts seem to share.

Most individuals drawn towards nofap seemed to have suffered from several of the following ailments:
    1. PIED
    2. Social anxiety/ alienation from friends and family
    3. Financial duress due to excessive spending on fin. dom. or porn sites
    4. Health issues
    5. Productivity loss at work or school

So, at 22 days, I'm wondering whether nofap is the solution for me. Can anyone share similar experiences or suggestions?

  2. Those are extreme examples experienced by people with severe PMO habits.

The way I see it, PMO is a bit like alcohol:

    - In an ideal world, no-one would turn to PMO (or alcohol), and would be the healthiest as a result.
    - Many people can get away with using PMO or alcohol in moderation, many other people can't.
    - Most people use PMO with some frequency and experience some negatives from it, but nothing so significant that NoFap is //necessary// just, that NoFap will probably help and improve their life in some way.
    - For a smaller number, the PMO addiction is severe and NoFap/quitting porn has become more or less necessary if they want to be able to lead a normal healthy life.

You don't need to be a worst case scenario to benefit from NoFap. I do have social anxiety, but that wasn't in any relation to my PMO habit, and was more to do with the amount of time I spend on computers etc and not socialising. I never had much of a serious MO or PMO addiction. I never had any noticeable problems arising from it.

In fact, I never noticed any problems that I could speak of - the only reason I started doing NoFap was I noticed that I felt better, higher energy, more confident etc when I started doing it.

It wasn't that I was in a bad place and needed NoFap to pull me out of it. I was in a relatively normal place, and I decided to do NoFap to give me a bit of an edge. It has still proven to be a fantastic decision, and one of the best things I've done for myself in recent times!

There is nothing but benefits from abstaining and not watching P, there's no reason not to stop PMO. You may not have issues now but they might show up in the future. Anyway you got nothing to lose.

As far as I've concluded, people are on here for various reasons.

I am not a typical nofap person either, as I am not addicted to porn or masturbation, and never have been. But I am here, because the practice of self-discipline is very inspiring, especially for someone like me, who chose to be voluntarily abstinent.

I don't think you need the exact same issues in life, to draw inspiration from one another. I find that the nofap community in general is about bettering yourself in whatever way makes sense to you, and there is a great sense of camaraderie on here unlike many other social communities I've come across - which I appreciate. :)

So the questions I have for you, why are you here? What did you experience that led you to quit? Why did you decide to quit?

Each of us experiences the effects of porn addiction in various ways, however one thing that runs true through those is that it is somehow interfering with our lives or feel it has more influence or control over us than we'd like.

While we all experience its impacts differently, we all have that addiction to porn. We have this community to discuss our addiction, struggle and progress with others out there who are going through the same thing.

Congrats on your 22 days! Keep going.

My ED is really medication related. 20 years of psychiatric medication cause sexual problems you. I've gone months before without porn and never missed it. The pills C and V have not worked for me so I re figured I'd try the hard reboot since I'm not seeing anybody right now.

Thanks everyone for the comments. I posted this 6 days ago when I was feeling weak and wanted to weasel my way out of committing to nofap. Now that I've endured those last few days, I remembered why I'm here, and I'm glad I didn't succumb to the temptations of porn. I'm really happy there's a supportive community to help me through this. Good luck on your respective journeys as well!

As a SO I read that when I read your post, because I hear it from my SO a lot. I am glad you figured this out on your own. Good luck on your journey.
