Not a criticism, just looking for some honest feedback: could NoFap be used to make porn potent?

  1. Overall, I think this site is great. However, like with so much on the internet, I sometimes wonder about the politics of this place. I would like to say that despite any imperfections, I would rather have NoFap in my life than some messed up porn site.

What concerns me about this place though, is that the feedback from Fapstronauts might be used to calibrate porn to make it more potent. IIRC, the publishing company for Gary Wilson's awesome book is called Commonwealth. Does that mean he is a libertarian? Personally, I am more of a liberal. I think human consciousness is mechanistic. If you a hypnotist or corporate paychology expert had a real time feedback on someones emotional state such as an emotional rating index facial analysis program, or, in future, a real time brainscan, then I think they could get them to do anything, including some major spiritusl mistakes such as bestiality, incest or murder-rape. If there is a Hell, a sufficiently well-resourced mind programmer can condemn the average person to it.

Anyway, I don't think NoFap is part of making the Big Nasty index worse. This site does a lot of good. This is a more of an intellectual exploration. Out of interest, what garauntees do we have that the admins, or researchers like Gary Wilson, aren't going to somehow share their expertise with the porn industry as part of some PsyOp? I personally believe the porn industry could have ended in 2006 but it kept going because of economic reasons. I mean the cultural hypnosis in 2006 naturally balanced me without porn, but then I got addicted worse thsn ever in 2007. Again, it seemed to be way the style of the media affected me in that year. (Hope came back again in 2008, but 2009 was he worst year of my life. And so the fractionation goes on ad naueseum.)

There is a big void in our society. Families break apart, people are disconnected, many bonds today are very superficial.

People feel empty inside, and the porn industry just fills this void.

NoFap is not directly fighting the porn industry, it is trying to fill the void.

If people are feeling coencted and strong inside, the urge to want porn goes away by itself.

  3. Thanks for your thoughtful reply. I had thought maybe I would get criticism for my comment about freewill but I found what you said really positive.

  4. Porn is already potent enough as it is. It's basically a weapon of mass destruction.

The nofap community is still a minority. Luckily people sooner or later realize what porn really does and end up on forums like these.
Fortunately what porn will never be able to do is to take away free will. Yes porn is addictive but it's not like it has to be looked at. It's only through education, communities like these and self-control that porn can be rendered impotent. Also it's up to the governments they're the ones in power, if anything I'd say it's the government the porn industry will try to bribe, not a spy looking for information on here, besides, if someone really wants to quit and never looks at that filth again, the porn industry loses either way.

The audience watching porn is as guilty of abuse as the porn industry itself. Without an audience, no need for porn. What they rely on is views. But it's up to the governments to do something, that's when porn can be made less damaging.

I wouldn't worry about someone like Gary Wilson sharing info with some porn producer anytime soon. People like him really make a difference.

I do not believe so. I figure if anyone is part of a government conspiracy its the porn industry itself.

What makes you think that there is any useful content here for anyone in the P industry? They are already experts in all of the areas that are relevant. I do not believe there is a scintilla of content, research, or interviews that would be useful.
