NoFap vs. Semen Retention, confused...

Discussion in 'Rebooting - Porn Addiction Recovery' started by Deleted Account, Feb 17, 2017.

  1. Hi everyone!

On the road towards achieving MMO's (multiple male orgasms) I stumbled across the NoFap community by accident after having heard about the benefits of Semen Retention and preserving the life force called 'jing' according to eastern tantric philosophies. It's basically a practice where you allow yourself to have as many orgasms as you want, but without ejaculating. (There are basically a ton of techniques that incorporates breathing, prostate massage and edging just to name a few)

I believed that nofap and semen retention was basically the same thing (used for better focus, more energy, confidence and higher libido etc.), apart from nofap also dealing with 'Porn Induced Erectile Dysfunction'. What confuses me based from all that I've read and heard about nofap, is that people advice to stay away from not only ejaculate, but to not have orgasms as well. Why is that? Wouldn't that be ok as long as you stay away from porn? Has it something to with re-wiring your brain when dealing with PIED or is it simply because the fact that you can separate orgasm from ejaculation is not commonly known by most men or regarded as a myth?

I'm in my early twenties and yes... I grew up watching a lot of porn on high speed internet and have had major problems with premature ejaculation which has lead to performance anxiety etc. But even though a grew up watching a lot of porn, I wouldn't say I'm addicted to it, or maybe I am. Often when I masturbate I look at porn, but sometimes I don't. Sometimes I "forget" about masturbation and 3-7 days can easily pass without me masturbating, then I'd get horny and do my thing, with porn or without.. so I wouldn't go as far as saying that I'm addicted, but I'm definitely going to quit porn for good anyway. I feel porn disconnects me from the sexual energy which can be felt by most women... they shouldn't have to look like pornstars to turn you on.

Orgasms gives so much energy, it's truly rejuvenating! Ejaculation on the other hand is not... At least I feel depressed after ejaculating and I don't feel motivated to do anything. If not suffering from PIED, why not reap the terrific benefits of NoFap but still having orgasms without ejaculating? Isn't that the ultimate win-win?

Love to hear your thoughts on this, take care!

    //cheers

I'm pretty new to all this NoFap, but from what I read if you do masturbate whilst watching porn and orgasm. Your brain is linked to any type of orgasm to porn and masturbating. I know it sound confusing but for our brain to reboot we must restrain from masturbating because as of now it reminds our penis of porn which is not sex... I don't think I'm explaining this too well.

  3. But isn't masturbating without porn or any other form of external stimulus a great way to learn your own body and rewire your brain so that you can experience pleasure without any of that?

It will take longer that's what I've been told and best not to fantasies whilst masturbating as well, but heck everybody is different!

  5. It's my opinion that orgasms which are done within a caring and loving relationship, where both people are focused on each other, will do nothing but help someone in their reboot.

Short answer is a very strong 'yes'.

(I will answer, but with a disclaimer. There is danger in me answering that I come across as if the philosophy of NoFap is mine to describe. The truth is that it's a loose foundation which tries to assist as many as possible with issues they have felt in their lives because of the existence of Porn. My description doesn't mean that I have any authority to say this is 'the truth', and none else exist.)

But.... There is a difference between those just now embracing their sexuality, and those that have been exercising their sexuality for long times with porn.

NoFap isn't against ejaculation or masturbation. It's an exercise to help heal from problems you've encountered in lifestyles that become overly centered around Porn as a necessary part. Once you've discovered what your life can be without porn, the message is sex is good in any form (partner or masturbation).

NoFap goes a bit under the assumption that you have been engaging porn and masturbation for awhile. Because porn offers a diversity and quantity that isn't found in nature, it can leave consumers overstimulated, their sexual function off balance, and their emotional state vulnerable, all because they have been pursuing this to depletion and exhaustion. Trying to engage in just masturbation anywhere after the immediate moments you choose not to use porn, comes with great challenges in that you are still vulnerable and that the imagery is still fresh, and you are still possibly depleted/exhausted. In short, you need to take a sexual vacation to ensure you are truly not being influenced by porn (such as stretching your mind out to remember what you have seen).

Following a reboot, then the idea is that all sexuality choices are yours to pursue as sex is good, sex is healthy, sex is fun. Your reboot is meant for you to discover yourself and based on that, you can engage your partner or even your own private masturbation to learn yourself and channel your attention and desire for pleasure in those directions without the distractions of porn.

Even during NoFap reboot, some couples use tantric practices while embracing NoFap at the same time to strengthen their relationship, and to aid in the recovery path. The difference in this, is that there is a partner to explore with, and a relationship to maintain, and someone to be accountable to so that temptations of masturbation don't leave people weak to resuming porn.

In all that, there is no 'absolute right way' for a NoFap reboot. Everyone's will power, consumption, and emotional circumstances are a bit different. Sexual therapists (which I am not) would say you have to look beyond the porn and see the person, and work with that person in it how fits their life.

Masturbation physically damages the penis too. A reboot allows your penis to physically restore sensitivity. and after a month or so youll start having wet dreams. Your body urges and emotional swings will start to normalise, you'll be able to better channel your energy, less deppression, better sex life, ability to connect with real women. You will not be sexually desensatised because of porn and so wont need extreme sexual practises in order to feel excited. The benefits go on and on and on. Dopamine addictions can cause ADHD etc etc. So watching porn and M and O but just without ejaculation misses most of these benefits. In fact I would say its questionable whether you would really gain anything at all by edging without ejaculation. And its likely you would cave in and end up ejaculating sometimes, as usually one thing leads to another. I would say this is your inner dopamine fiend trying to convince you that its ok to watch porn and masturbate and orgasm as long as you dont ejaculate. Its like the "just one more hit" factor that drug addicts experience or the "Ill start my diet again tomorrow" factor that food addicts have. Or the very common "Ill eat what I want but burn it off afterwards" or the smokers "I wont quit straight away but I will cut down first" etc etc. This is our inner dopamine fiends way of trying to edge us back to our old ways so he can basque in the glory of the good old dopamine rush again.

As mentioned as well, there is no right or wrong answer, just what works best for individuals. We have different reasons for being here. Christians and Muslims may want to give up PMO all together for religious reasons, people experiencing ED may want to just rewire themselves so they can have a better real world sex life, people who suffer from depression etc as a result of PMO want a more balanced emotional state, etc etc. For me, definitely PMO without ejaculation doesnt solve any of my problems or achieve any of my goals. But if it works for you then you can always do your own reboot as being "90 days without ejaculation". Its entirely up to you to define your own goals and rules and be accountable to yourself. This is very experimental for everyone but in my own experience, anything short of a full reboot doesnt work. Even allowing myself to edge or MO without P doesnt help me. Full abstinence from PMO is the only solution for me. Many others are in the same boat. Personally one of my issues was that I masturbated so much that I have a load of varicus veins in my penis from extreme death grip so clearly not ejculating isnt going to solve that. My penis is a lot smaller than it was and even my wife jokes that my large penis was the mark of my manliness and I need it back. So not touching my penis at all is the only solution. But we are here for different reasons so if someone tried your method then they will soon figure out if their issues go away or not. BUt personally I would say most people will prob not want to do everything else except ejaculate

In my experience and with studying tantra practices myself, when you Orgasm without ejaculation you still loose 20%-40% of your life force chi. Even if you have sex with a women and just stop after a while with no O or ejaculation, you still loose about 10% as there is an energy exchange with the other person. And with practicing tantra, if you are with an enegeticly depleted or toxic person it can be devistating and depleate tons of your energy. But if you are with a Super energetically healthy women it can boost you up and raise your life force. So its alot based on your partner. That is why virgins where so prized in past history, as they are thought of as cleaner and more pure and wouldn't contaminate you. Tantra can be very dangerous if practiced with the wrong person and can mess you up for months..
It is only ment to be practiced in a commited relationship and only really works if you love the person. There needs to be a true heart connection for it to even work.

  11. Awesome reply, thanks!

Wow, had no idea you could actually damage your Johnson like that... How do mean it became smaller? Erect? Flaccid? Both? During flatline or permanently? Mine have become smaller to but only in flaccid state. I must have hit some sort of flatline... no libido either. My penis now looks as if belonged to a child... nothing I'd ever like to show a woman haha (the brag is gone... wish for it to come back)

Honestly, I don't know if I'm addicted to porn or if there's another reason for my low libido and deflated Johnson. I used to masturbate like 2-3 times a week to porn, sometimes a week could pass without me masturbating. Sometimes I used porn, sometimes I didn't. However, it feels great to stop the habit anyway :)

Where do you draw the line between tantra and regular sex but without ejaculation? If I meet a girl in a bar, have sex and orgasm without ejaculation, is that tantra?

So where does this energy go? Does she take it? Why can't she give her energy to me, like an exchange? I practice prostate orgasm... there are no words to the describe those orgasm... It makes an ejaculatory orgasm a fizz in comparison, and after you feel SO energised (if you don't ejaculate afterwards). Seems weird if to loose 20-40% of energy, should be the opposite.

Some tantric practitioners vouch for a lot of orgasms (without ejaculation but every 6 weeks or so) "Orgasm is a taste of enlightenment"... doesn't sound so bad to me ;)
