This should be quite a short post unless I ramble.

I've seen many members stating that any P-subs are very harmful to reboots. For this reason, I'm doing a 'hard mode' and have deleted all social media but there is still a source of explicit images - my brain. These images hit my hardest at night while trying to sleep, one side effect since stopping PMO is that it takes me longer to go to sleep than usual (30-45 mins). Here lies the problem, my memory is pretty good and so each night I find these things flashing into my mind: I'm rewatching P videos I watched previously within my head, images flash in and out, I even see explicit comments that I saw months ago - and it's all so vidid.

Obviously I attempt to quash these thoughts as fast as possible but they are there, I can't avoid them flashing in and out. Is this harmful? Will it stop with time? I'm highly dedicated to rebooting but I can't stop these thoughts appearing, only force them out. I guess my main question is will it prolong my reboot/keep those P pathways alive?

Thanks to anyone that can offer advice.

    Hi Sheppard!
The brain basically remembers anything, and even more so the things that entangled themselves with your emotions. The mind will focus its attention where you will focus it on; so if you are thinking so much about "not watching P", then your mind will think of P. It is a natural mechanism. Like the monks which escaped in the desert to avoid sexual thoughts and ended up only thinking and obsessing on sexual thoughts.
The way I see it, do not spend your day thinking "I dont have to wath P"; do other stuff, change habits and practice meditation. These will avoid your mind being centered on P (which occurs even though you are saying to yourself "don't watch P") and the meditation practice will give you more power to control your though process, which is especially useful in the solitary moments of falling asleep.
    Cheers.

    Thanks for the quick reply.
I am considering incorporating meditation into my daily routine, do you have any advice for a complete newbie? As in applications to use, or if you don't use these what techniques do you use ect.? I'd appreciate anything you can offer on the matter as I really have no idea o_O

Doing and thinking other stuff is the key.

    If you plant flowers you get flowers;
    If you plant weeds you get weeds;
If you plant nothing you get...
    weeds!

That is how our brain works. It abhors a vacuum. So we need to keep it full of good positive things. You can play word games in your mind, you can recite song lyrics. It doesn't matter what it is. Just don't leave your mind blank. It is fatal

Thanks for the advice, and damn that analogy is good . I'll try to keep thinking of other things, that pre-sleep period is definitely when the PMO demons try to force their way out.

Me too. It is very typical for a certain kind of addicts

How exactly are you doing this?

Yes of course. The key is that you need to aquire new habits, new skills, new behaviour.

Example: When you go to a foreign country, then you need around 2-3 years until you speak the language fluently, and then you begin to forget your old language.

The same is true with PMO.

This is a great question buddy. I had the same problem in the past, I have it now and I will continue to have it.
See, our brain stores all kinds of memories of porn. You probably remember things all of a sudden that you did know that you remembered it.
We will always have this problem. It can decrease in strength but I'm sure that it will always be there.
So, when I get a thought, I do one of two things.
I refocus my mind on something else, similar to meditation. I focus on the word "peace" and my breath.
I kinda flex all my muscles, like you are tensing up. I try to force it out of my head. This method actually works well. It has helped me but I'm not sure if it will work for everyone.
Also, you will almost certainly have dreams about porn. They are normal and they cannot be prevented. The good news is that these dreams are harmless.
It's good to see that you are serious about this. Keep it up man!:)

Thanks for the input and the possible solutions :).

This actually leads me on to another question I had for you guys - dreams. Everyone talks about wet dreams, P related dreams, dreams of Ming and so on but I don't have any. Like literally no dreams at all. I've never had a wet dream and cannot remember the last time I dreamt anything at all. It would probably be more accurate to say that I don't recollect anything from my dreams when awake as I've read that everyone does dream but it's still strange.

Does anyone else have a similar situation? I've also tried lucid dreaming but to no avail. I simply don't dream o_O.
Any information would be greatly received as I've never seen anyone talk about this and so I have nothing on the matter.

Trying to force them out doesn't work very well. Google the study "don't think of white bears". It only makes them come back more often.

Thought redirection is another possibility. That can work OK.

I have found changing the feeling of the memory, or the change memory itself to be more effective. The key is to make sure your brain doesn't get to enjoy the feeling of arousal when it delivers the memory. Here are a few ideas:

Change your face to a smile of frown. Basically any facial expression that is not compatible with lust. Try it .... put a big stupid smile on your face, and recall your favorite porn scene. If you can manage to keep the smile there, you probably will have a hard time feeling lust.

Same for a frown .... almost like you are pissed off or scolding your brain.

You can also ruin the memory so that it isn't arousing. Picture the girl off camera crying and feeling bad that she has to be doing porn for money. Picturing her crying and suffering. Picture her at home, using drugs to numb the pain .... make her "unsexy" in your memory.

    Good luck

I went through most of my life with the same experience @Sheppard. Yet despite lacking recall of dreaming, we do dream.
I am not sure why we are unaware of it, but that is all it is. We do dream, but we simply have no awareness of doing so.

    Sure mate,
you can find a local meditation group in your city, as doing it with a group is generally best at first, and also to start getting the discipline. Then it gets easier. A generally good group is Sahaja Yoga, and it's present in most cities worldwide.
You can use the app Headspace or others, but I suggest starting with a group in person.
Otherwise, online, there is an introductory course called Inner Engineering. Still, I suggest Sahaja Yoga: it's free and you will have a community around you, and this greatly helps with PMO addiction.
Write to me whenever you need.
    Cheers.

I remember after a flatline i got curious about this sexual picture ( not going to describe for my own sanity :p ), but i couldn't remember it clearly. After a couple of days of not stopping thinking about it, that image got so clear i ended up PMO'ing kappa.

Thanks for the info on that app, I've just downloaded it and it looks great :D. Do you use any particular modes or just the standard breathing meditation?

I started with the 7 Days of Calm and liked it so much I paid the $33 for the annual membership which unlocked the 21 Days of Calm. I just finished that yesterday and am going to move on to another series today after work...maybe the 7 Days of Focus. Im sure there are much better ways to meditate out there, but this has been awesome for a beginner like me.

Ive now been practicing to get into the Lotus pose as I feel thats when I will really start to become a "serious" meditator lol. But, even after 15 years of practicing yoga, I am finding it a real bitch! Glad you like it.

Haha, the lotus pose. I tried that a few days ago and it was great until I lost feeling in my legs :D. Half lotus is doable though, and I'm also considering getting the subscription but as a student I like to be sure I'll stick with it before I cough up ;).

  18. that's not something you should try to force away. they will go away with time, the longer you go with out porn, those will go away. don't worry.
