How did you guys get through the first week?

  1. I am on day 4 and i am really struggling not to MO (can't P because i installed K9). I keep having constant thoughts like, i deserve to because i've not in so long and how can it hurt? I'm wondering what helped keep you strong during the first week or so of abstaining.

  2. Anything that forces you out of your comfort zone should do the trick. Most of us are younger guys so we have school or a part-time job to sort of occupy our time. The biggest enemy is boredom. If you put yourself in a situation where you need some sort of artificial stimulus (YouTube, Facebook, porn, etc.) you must actively find alternatives. And it's not easy. I was feeling shitty until I changed my diet (to fresh foods) and started getting out of the house. But you can never just sit on your laurels. You have to constantly WORK to improve yourself. You are most prone to a relapse when you're feeling your strongest.

    I hate to break it to you, but the first week is easier then the second in a lot of cases. The urges do get weaker after a few days of quitting but then they come harder after they start to leave. Just find things to keep you occupied, puruse a passion or something that you javwnt had the time to because of porn and masturbation.

    Don't be alone. Don't be alone with a computer that has internet access. And Don't be alone with a computer and a toilet paper.

    Most importantly, don't be bored.

    Think about it.You came home,you're alone,you see your computer,then you remember that you've got no chores to do now.Get out of that house ASAP!! Be bored outside,not inside.

    Don't ever trust yourself,your brain! Believe me it's friggin hard staying indoors,bored,with computer and not thinking PMO.

    I'm on day 5, and I'm okay for now, I can feel my dick sensitive and ready to react at the first glance lol but the key is to control your thoughts. What I do is to think about the man you want to be, the most precise image possible you can get to you mind.

    Efficiency proven ;)
     
  6. I just put my trust in the Lord and pray hard whenever a urge comes up. God hasn't failed me and He NEVER WILL. That's how I got through my 1st week of abstinence from PMO.

    On day 5 or 6 before I reset from a MO (hard mode here) I decided to shave my head, then everything else:eek:

    It's grown back but it wasn't a glorious start. It was just me dealing with stress. In a way it was therapeutic Lol. I've sworn to do it again if I PMO. So far 29 days porn free:)

    I made a paper list with my triggers and the reasons why I wanted to quit PMO/MO. I never moved without that list, I read it a 100 times, whenever I felt the urges.
    Process:
    you feel urge
    you read the complete list
    you feel another urge
    you read the complete list again.

    Move. Turn off the computer as much as you can. Turn off your devices. Remember, discomfort is only temporary and it will pass. Say to yourself "No matter how I feel, I will not masturbate today". Never get too confident: this is an active process; kill all stimuli, leave no survivors: no newspapers, no TV, no pictures of any kind. Don't let yourself be tempted and you won't be tempted.

    I think your post says it all, you say youre struggling with MO but not with P, because you cant do P.
    You just got to make sure you cant do MO, be a round people, go outside etc and youll see you wont struggle with it either...

    Boredom can be tackled in a couple of different ways. Yes, it's a great idea to get out more and exercise or just find things to do with free time that are healthy. But sometimes it can be productive to just sit in the boredom. Embrace it and breath deeply for some minutes. Could be 5, 10, 15, whatever. This is like meditating. Gives your mind a break and you will feel like THAT is boring maybe but whenever a thought (any thought) comes, imagine blowing it away like you would a leaf or something. You will feel better afterwards.
