I was wondering something about the constant resurgance of fetish cravings at the start of each new week. For example, on the YBOP article "What Does Withdrawal From Porn Look Like", they list this as one of the many things that happens to you when you decide to quit porn/fapping:
"One week after quitting the reward center sprouts new nerve cell branches, which correlate with cravings to use"

Now, I have been 22 days clean. What I've noticed every single week of abstinance (including on my last 29 day stint) is that the first two to three days of a "new" week (eg. on day 7 and 8, on day 14, 15 and 16, and then now on day 22) that the cravings increase dramatically for a few days. Interestingly enough, I also had a wet fetish "dream" last night again. The exact same thing happened on day 13. I guess it could simply be a coincidence and that it is the Chaser from the nocturnal emission but I strongly feel there's something more to it.

So my question to you guys is as follows: have any of you ever noticed a weekly increase in cravings or a spike in the amount of time you spend with fetishes stuck in your brain which then mysteriously seem to decrease again over the course of the next few days of a given week?

I've noticed almost the exact same thing, although I didn't know about the new nerve branches. Here's the post where I described my discovery of this phenomenon. Understanding what sets up this weekly pattern will be key to overcoming PMO, so the best thing to do is "compare notes" and see if any insights turn up. In meanwhile, I will check out the YBOP article.

Interesting and thanks for sharing; I just read both of your posts on this. Apologies I'm only replying now. I've been rather busy in the past few days! I was hoping for a few more people responding to this post as well to get more insight into this, because that one article I talked about only says it happens after 7 days that new nerve cell branches, and doesn't state one way or the other if it's every 7 days afterwards with ever decreasing intensity or if it is a one-time thing that simply takes a while to die off.
Based on both our experiences I would say it is the former, most likely. I'm still suffering a bit from the chaser effect and it's most notable when I just woke up and am still in a groggy halfway sleepy haze where I seem to have a bit less control over my actions or thoughts. I hope that in the next few days things will drastically improve and that I'll soon go into the flatline.
