I know what edging is. What about visual edging? This gets me often. I tell myself that looking at nearly nude pics of P stars is no big deal, just a nibble.... then it goes badly from there. Is there another name for this?

You don't need too look at near nude girls to call it edging. You don't even need to look, you can fantasize with your mind, it would still be edging. Anything that could cause an arousal (apart from being with someone you are going to or want to have sex) can be called edging. Don't be fooled, man, all these things lead you to PMO, even bikini babes or staring at girls in the street.
So, I think this other word you are searching for does not exist.

^^ This is spot on :)

A full reboot means ignoring all things that arouse you. It's a slippery slope when you start looking at even the most vanilla material!

  4. There is no need to complicate it - Looking at sexy pics is porn and edging simply means masturbating (but not to orgasm).

What vertigo said. Sexy pics are porn.

Your brain doesn't know the difference.

  6. Yea, I call it edging, other guys call it "juicing". You're pretty much searching for those dopamine hits, so even if you're looking at sexy but not nude pics of p stars then you're still teasing yourself and setting yourself up to relapse, or slow your progress down a bit. I know defining it helps to get a grip on things, the best thing to understand is to not fool yourself and take responsibility for the shit you do.

Everybody's spot on saying you're hurting yourself by looking at "nearly nude" pics. I don't care if you are looking at a fully and conservatively clothed picture of a porn star. If it turns you on and you associate the picture with porn, then your mind is treating it as porn. I was really bummed when I realized I couldn't allow myself to cheat with this "grey area" stuff. What helps me get past it is reminding myself how I disappointed I'll be when I can't go to the "next level" by watching real porn. I remind myself it'll be easier to stop myself before I start opposed to stopping after I'm all excited from nearly nude pictures.

In short: remove all hypersexualized thoughts!
