I believe sex is one of if not the greatest weapon the enemy uses against us. It's impossible to go online these days without being bombarded by sex adds and nudity. I believe living our lives without electronics is the best way to live. It's absurd for us to believe we can successfully reboot and abstain when we are constantly plugging ourselves into the porn system known as social media and the internet. It's like a drug addict telling himself he will stay clean when he has drugs in his back pocket! We must eliminate all sources of temptation in our lives until we are strong enough the stand firm. There is a reason Jesus said if a body part causes you to sin cut it off; it would be better for us to live our lives simply then for us to remain addicts our whole life and remain in sin.
I agree with your assessment. I do think it is possible to be online and not be exposed to unhelpful visuals, but it does require effort. And some places -- many social media platforms, e.g. -- are, as you say, best avoided altogether.
