When you're in a flatline does it feel like your brain is just numb and throbbing. Like I lift my eyebrows and it feels like the front part of my brain is asleep. This is also accom-panied by shortness of breath. I had a 20 year or more porn addiction and a masturbation addiction long before that. I fear it may take 2 years or more to really recover though I have made progress. Can anyone relate to this?

Even if it takes 2 years, lets say it takes 5 years, is there any better alternative to that, what do you suggest, returning back to pmo? that is not a solution

Yeah. I only watched porn 6 times last year and MO about 3-4 times a month – a few months I did hard mode. this year, 5 months porn free and 50-something pays on hard mode with no relapse. I have minor headaches and irritation above my left eye. It started after an intense wet dream I had. Some days it's there some days it's not.

Every few months, I have very intense waves of anxiety that last for 2 weeks or so. It's truly horrible; utter misery and then it passes. I had sex a few times in one night at the start of the year and that triggered a cycle too. I just can't orgasm more than once a day even with sex. Sounds like we both have PAWs. The only way through them is to get through them and never watch porn again.

I'm not sure how you got that from my post. I was in no way suggesting giving up or anything. I was only asking if anyone else had these kind of headaches. To go as long as I have and to go through WHAT I have mentally only to go back to that now would be psychotic.

That's a lot better than PMOing every day. Sounds like you've made a lot of progress. I've only had 3 orgasms so far this year. The 2nd day of the year I had a Terrible day mentally and MOed. The other 2 times were with my Fiance. What's weird is that after the last time I Oed with her for a week my libido was SOOO good. Hard all the time and wanting sex. Then after that complete flatline, going soft in the middle of sex ETC. The brain is a fickle thing and heals at weird rates. But, no porn since October of 22 and not going back there. I wish I knew the damage I was causing myself a lot sooner.

No way, October 22 was the last I watched it too haha. And yeah me too. I hate to say it but I discovered nofap YEARS ago and have recovered 2-3 times before but went back to porn as the libido was too much to tame for me. I just never truly believed that my symptoms were down to porn other than the sexual ones. I didn't watch it all day every day so thought that I wouldn't get PAWS etc. it's taken me many years to accept that I have the addict brain changes – even though I didn't watch it that much.

Wow that is a coincidence. Yes I have fully accepted that it's not that much different than being a recovering Meth addict. I have friends who got clean from Meth and say their brain wasn't normal until 2 or 2 and a half years later.

Wild theory but wondering if you might be able to speed up rate of brain change by getting more sleep than usual. E.G. if your usual is 7 hours try going up to 8-9. Sleep is when the brain files and rewires itself, which is basically what addiction recovery is.

That is a very good question. I usually sleep from about 3 AM until Noon. So i do sleep a good bit. LOL. I've often wondered how I would feel if I just slept ALL day until I couldn't sleep anymore

sleeping from 10PM onwards gives you adequate rest for body and mind. How many hours you sleep is of lesser importance when compared to when you sleep. Our bodies are meant to work as per nature's circadian rhythms. Rise with sun and set with sunset. That's how melatonin secretion happens.
