I'm 33 and have been single for about two years now.

Offline: 1) Direct approach works. You approach a girl you see and like and start talking. Simple as that.
She will either like you or not. So she will either make it easy to talk, learn some things about each other and arrange a meeting or not.
2) Going out and meeting new people. Friends of friends is a great way to meet someone decent. It is limited in the numbers of people though.

To decrease your number of flakes try to learn more about the girl. Try to find genuine reasons to like her, don't just go for the number.
Also if you don't see interest tell her she doesn't need to give her number. Don't proceed if you don't see interest.

Online: Trash, I don't use it at all.
These apps are made to enrich their owners. Everything about them is geared towards that, not towards you being happy.
The more promiscuity the more $$$ for these apps. Also they are designed to be addictive. The more addiction the more $$$ for them.

My challenges: I want a girl that wants to have a family and keep it. I would also preferably like a girl from my country.
I live abroad though. So there are logistical issues (where to live, what language to speak etc) and values issues.
Family is not high on the values list abroad.
I have seen a lot of drugs, alcoholism, promiscuity, individualism and an obsession with a retarded version of personal freedom.
(Generalizing here, I've met lovely people as well).
To each their own I guess but these values are conflicting with my values.
So if I haven't met someone in a couple years I aim to return back home where my chances are much better.
