I struggle to see the superior attributes of The Shield. I suggest a better song from the Mk I era would be Hush from the first album. From the classic Mk II era my pick would be the epic Child In Time. I am also very fond of Lazy - very bluesy.
It's all preferences... You like floral wall paper and I like stripes... All good IGY. I did forget about Child in Time - Great Song. How about Gypsy Queen.. Hush... mmmm not on the top of the list. Best album probably Machine Head.. but Smoke on the Water was driven to the ground by radio play.
The great and mighty Metallica has not been mentioned? Well let me mention it. Long live Metallica. ... pre St. Anger.
Yes, I agree and I mention Hush only because I would select that ahead of The Shield. Machine Head is undoubtedly the best studio album and Made In Japan is the best live album by Deep Purple.
..I've always been more of a metalhead. Alice in Chains, Metallica, Iron Maiden are all good. Jane's Addiction is also wonderful, they have a very unique sound to them.
Hmm, yes, bummer! Well, when you reach four months on your counter, I think some retail therapy would be in order!

Cut my life into pieces, this is my last resort. Suffocation, no breathing, don't give a fuck if I cut my arm, bleeding - Papa Roach, Last Resort Your post reminded me of this song
I'm more of a modern rock listener so most of my favorite rock bands are a little more recent: Mayday Parade All Time Low My Chemical Romance Forever the Sickest Kids Simple Plan Rage Against the Machine Nirvana Most of the bands on the list were recommendations from my a few friends. I've moved onto to other genres of music now so I don't listen to them quite as often now. These bands and rock music still get me pumped up and jamming. Probably my most favorite and oldest rock song, is Cult of Personality from Living Colour:
