    Hi all.

I've come to the point where I need a porn blocker for my phone and computer. I still need to use my phone and computer for school so I'm not sure how I would get by if I'm getting blocked from researching things that include the word "hot" for instance. But I would like something pretty rigorous in the sense that it will block me from any temptation even if it means blocking me from social media apps/websites. I have my SLAA sponsor who I can give my password to as well. Any recommendations for a good porn blocker where I can't undermine it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Thanks, Sinner. Good thread. I'm confused as to what you are talking about with the porn-blocking suggestions that you referred to though. Are those for people who know code? I'm looking for something a little more simple, I won't be going through the effort to learn how to code to watch porn. When I searched on the web it shows the best porn blockers are NetNanny, Covenant Eyes, Bark, x3 watch, and Qustodio for example. Do you or anyone else have experience with these? When I go to other porn-blocking blogs of the best 5 or 10 best porn-blocking sites they will mention completely different ones which is annoying. I'm willing to pay up to around $50 a year. But what I don't want to have to do is manually add websites, I just want something that automatically disables all adult content. I need to get one ASAP

I am using *** (the best one I've come across) on my phone and ColdTurkey on my pc, both work great. I prefer Coldturkey (sadly it's not available on phone) since you can make a list of sites and keywords to block, but also for example block certain searches on sites without blocking sites themselves. It is possible to set a timer for the blocker with a combination of not being able to uninstall the software nor remove the blocks you set up. It's possible to find loopholes if you are willing enough, but this blocker has really helped me so far. It's paid but cheap and a lifetime purchase.

    Hey matt,
You don't need to know coding to run those blockers. And they are way better than net nanny and qustodio. I removed qustodio from the list because it is not good enough.

Hey Sinner. Thanks for getting back to me. You're right. I tried out Covenant Eyes and found out this like many others doesn't even block google images while allowing me to search using obscene keywords. It also doesn't alert my accountability partner when engaging in these "concerning" searches/content. I'll try one of the blockers you listed. Could you perhaps suggest one to me? (I am terrible at making decisions) I have a Windows PC and IOS phone and looking for something that is simple to use for someone who is not very tech-savvy. Thanks.

ColdTurkey is real useful, but sadly not totally bullet proof :-( It is a great first defence but you'll need the mindfulness and will power strength to not test it

I blocked all p sites + social media and search engines (except for Google). To do that I took did this:

    1. Download and secure this DNS filter: (Bulldog Blocker uses this).

    2. Download Cold Turkey Blocker.

Be as strict as you can with the settings. Enable many blockers with the same pages. No breaks. Block some with random text and others with a time range of 2 minutes. If you want my list of blocked pages, send me a DM! I blocked all Reddit mirror urls and search engines. Don’t forget to consider the exceptions.

    3. Force safe search on Google:

I have a Windows computer and an iPhone. I couldn’t block my old Mac, so I sold it. If you have an Android, download Bulldog Blocker. On iPhone, go to settings- use time-restrictions -content restrictions, and enable only the websites that you need. Spend an afternoon writing all the ones that can be useful. After setting your list, let a friend set the 4 number password for you and tell him to keep it for when you want to add new websites or new apps.

I see that you already checked out pluckeye, it's one of the best blockers out there for windows. You could also give Screen Time for iOS a try, might be the only setup needed for your iPhone.

I use net nanny. Have used it for 3 years now.

I hear what you say about not needing to block specific websites, but the further along you go with the journey this might be a useful thing. I have shopping websites allowed on my laptop but not my phone. Also you can set up your own personal keywords to a blacklist. You can block in safe apps as well.

The kicker for me though is the device pause/ internet scheduling feature. This has helped me limit internet use in the evening and morning and therefore sleep better.

Sometimes it crashes on my phone - i just need to open it and hit sync - but the further you go with the journey the more honest you get and the less you want to see stuff anyway.
