  1. Canada is no longer ranked number 1 in both Best Country in the World and Best Quality of Life, to date.

I'm surprised two of the European countries are considered the best in the world right now!

Switzerland is known for its breathtaking landscapes, healthy food & drink, excellent education system, stricter gun laws, and, of course, friendly people. As much as I want to visit Switzerland, it seems to be like Heaven on Earth. Yet, it's expensive from what I have heard. Still unsure about the labor markets.

Sweden, I don't know much about and the only thing I know, right now, is the people versus the government. I am interested in Sweden at this moment.

As a swiss I belive you should read ''Switzerland Exposed'' by Jean Ziegler, released in 1975 (with an update version from 1978) even if old book is still interesting, the only thing that changed are the new misleads that we never eard about! The fact that y'all belive that Switzerland is a ''Paradise'' concern me a lot, since isn't really that good. This thing about Paradise Switzerland just looks like a succesfull attempt of propaganda from my country.
Other people like Durrenmatt were spyed by the government because he criticitzed this country (can't post the link, it is in swissinfo.ch just search Durrenmatt they spied him for like 50 years).

About the ''breathtaking landscapes'', bro it is full of breathtaking landscapes all arround the world, not only there, and every time i talk with an immigrant he can't stop to tell me how is country is better than mine about landscapes.
Excellent education system only on private schools, i had good teachers but it was the old guard, now many people that teach at school are just jokers (Teacher arrested for sexual acts with children
The restrictive measure against the 39-year-old, who is the principal of a middle school in the Lugano area, was confirmed by the judge of coercive measures -
    can't post the link either)
Strict gun laws not exactly, since like everyone that did the mandatory army service should own a gun at home.
And yes is really expensive and i live in the Kanton that pay most taxes and get paid less.$
About the healty food idk, since moslty of the things you find at market are from EU, we can't live with just strawberries , spätzli and chestnuts.

And the actuall president of the confederation was arrested in 1990 because he was caught trying to stolen a vhs tape (39.90 chf), just immagine what he could stole right now.

And idk what is this kind of discriminatio about work, I own a aprendiceship degree from my work and i have to work for 300.- a week, and work 9 hours for day so is like i'm in Romania, nice paradise bro, i get paid less and taxes get more and more expensive!

These countries are happier because of the economic system that the government put in place. Everyone’s basic needs are met through taxes, so people don’t have to worry about things like medical debt, student loan debt, and housing insecurity. They have cushy social safety nets, low crime, and nordic countries are among the world’s wealthiest. The nordic model is a hybrid between socialism and capitalism. But because these Nordic countries are happier doesn’t mean that they don’t have their fair share of problems. Racism runs rampant in Nordic countries. Happiness measures general well being/mental health of a society, not the society as a whole.

LMFAO bro I really respect your opinion. But there is absolutely no way in hell you can EVER convince anyone Switzerland isn't top tier country to live in (granted if you are rich enough to live there).

I'm not even talking about the homicide rates in America or the suicides in Asia. The bs healthcare in the U.S, the horrible economy of Venezuela. War in Africa etc.

I'm talking about compared to Nordic Nations (probably Norway is the only one that can compete). I'm talking compared to Belgium, Netherlands. That's not propaganda.

Are there people that may say Norway is better? Or Denmark/Finland? Singapore? Maybe. But's let's be real Switzerland is always in the conversation.

If you're afraid of someone reading this post and wanting to move to Switzerland, don't be. The average citizen from other countries cannot move there.

Norway was the poorest country of scandinavia and reinvented itself as an oil exporter and now is probably the richest one.
You don't even know how many people from the region where i live want to left this place, since we have more than 80.000 EU workers (in my region i mean) and youngs can't find work because italians are paid less (So you pay 2000francs two italians workers without aprendiceship degree with 15 years of experience instead of a swiss that by law should take 3500-4000francs but that's just hypotetic since no one want young people with degreree because you have to pay more!). I live in the italian side, but is the same shit in Geneve, you barely can find a temporary contract and central government don't give a fuck.
What i mean is that Switzerland is degenerating and will not be forever that kind of paradise people belive, if they don't do more misleads i mean, they are really good doing mysleads to other country and claim to be neutral!

It was the poorest, being under Denmark and Sweden. But yeah now they are the richest. Technically richer than Switzerland if you count their oil fund as "for the people"

Unemployment is common in Europe. My point is that, even though no one thinks Switzerland is a paradise, it is still better than 98% of countries in the this world. You cannot deny that. Your "problems" are acknowledged, but on a global scale most countries will take your "problems" over theirs. Sucks to be on the "Italian side" but you are well above the Nordics overall as a nation. https://www.statista.com/chart/20834/unemployment-rates-eu-plus-uk/

There are simply not many countries you would rather be born in than Switzerland. And I know Europe is falling in many aspects. But your basis that Switzerland "isn't that good," does not resonate with the other 194 countries (maybe outside of Norway, and that's still a big debate).

    @Won't Lie Down

Of course we are still better than other countries especially the ''meds'' countries! But this swiss government is wasting too many money on Europe, like everyone in his deep know that Switzerland is part of the EU due to an unwritted law and the neutrality is just some kind of Fabula, not that i call myself a neutralist or whatsover, i just don't like this kind of europe! Since I open up the books of Tolstoj i just trashed all my nationalistic brainwash and i don't belive in it anymore, since everything is just a myth.

At least Simon Bolivar (he represented even your country) is a real existing person, our national hero wilhelm is just a revisitation of a character from the Gesta Danorum (Saxo Grammaticus) called Toko, and people act like he really did something....maybe they are the same that make jpkes about Jesus because in their opinion isnˋt a historical character and then they belive on Wilhelm Tell and praise him.

Roger Federer blah, the only swiss that deserve attention is Paracelsus and Hermann Hesse, and a little bit J.H.Pestalozzi
I love litterature especially russian, German and Anglo Saxon litterature, but when i have to read an italian author or Swiss i mostly yawn, there is nothing that i like from us! Interesting that i needed 5 minutes to remember some Swiss people I like, if you ask me to cite someone outside my country that i respect i would immediatly answer lol

Federer deserves respect, not just as a tennis player but as a human being.

Those countries' populations are just way bigger though. Also, not a fan of Carl Jung?

Ok lol - name some people who respect outside of Switzerland.

  15. En?gmatic

Djokovic deserve much more respect since they threated him like a worm and he wasnˋt able to go in Australia and USA to play, and even able to win some tournment. Federer can only do tv spot for the masses and get money.

Jung is a bastard and i rate a complete error than a ˋhalf truthˋ because this is Jung and mostly of he psychoanalists do. Jung is more subdole because he act like if he know something about the spirit but then if you read him from his letter for example, you can feel his skepticism and materialistic conception of the world.

When he was in India, this because he was just a coward:

Ramana Maharshi was regarded at that time as an ascetic who in an exemplary way had transcended the limitations of identification with body and mind and immersed himself in Atman, the Self. He pointed - unique in all of India's spiritual history - to the realization of the Atman through the "search for the Self." Jung toured India far and wide, even visiting Ceylon, and had occasion to visit Ramana Maharshi when he was in Madras, not far from Tiruvannamalai, where Ramana lived. He even traveled by car from Madras to Tiruvannamalai, but about 30 km from his destination he was assailed by the most ungovernable terror: he interrupted his journey and returned to Madras. This was met with disappointment and deep disappointment by Heinrich Zimmer, who had claimed the meeting with Ramana as a spiritual turning point in Jung's life.

You didˋt ask me which country should i quote. Actually iˋm reading some poems by Stig Dagerman, a swedish anarchist that wroted a beautiful book about post-ww2 germany and show the condition of the german people, i suggest you to read this book called ˋgerman autumnˋ

I'd agree Djokovic is a better player. But this does not mean Federer doesn't deserve respect. Both are great human beings, Nadal also. I'm positive Djokovic will finish with most slams.

I don't really care for Jung either way. Some people respect him, some don't. Just interested to get your thoughts on your fellow countryman.

I'll check out the book. I just said outside of Switzerland - I was hoping for a variety of people, just to get a sense of the type of people you admire. They can be outside of Europe.

Also, how many languages do you speak?

  17. En?gmatic

    En?gmatic Fapstronaut

I speak only italian and english! They should start make you learn german in kindergarten and they proposed it, instead they make you learn french at your second year of school and that mostly sucks, i understand mostly of it but never spoke and i'll probably never. I belive that kids here should be brainwashed with german as second language because south swiss are cutted of and german is hard to learn so kids should learn it.

I'm Swedish and would not recommend Sweden. I plan on moving abroad soon.

One problem is that more men than women live in Sweden, especially among young people.

The atmosphere is very tense often, crime is on the rise, people are upset.

We do have plenty of beautiful nature though, that is one of few good aspects of Sweden.

    Edit

I just skimmed through the article and...

I mean a political party founded by neonazis just became the 2nd largest party in our latest election earlier this fall.

I voted blank in the election, I just want to get the fuck out of this sinking ship.

    Edit

Denmark is really nice, and it should be relatively easy to find a job in Denmark (however, I don't know how Denmark has been affected by rising energy prices and inflation).

I used to live in southern Sweden and one nice thing about that was being able to travel to Copenhagen relatively easily. I love walking around in Copenhagen, the atmosphere is much more relaxed than in Sweden. I l love walking around in Christiania, I haven't smoked weed in many years, but still, I find Christiania very charming.

I'm not planning on moving to Denmark though, I don't drink any alcohol and I've heard you can become sort of a social outcast if you don't drink in Denmark lol.

    Edit

My favorite European city is probably Tallinn.
