Is doing MO a good strategy to overcome porn addiction?

Is this a good option for overcoming a porn addiction? My thinking is that doing no pmo is probably too hard for most of us, and that MO is natural, but porn isn’t. So getting back to the natural order of MO could be a step in the right direction. As porn usually makes us M too often, once that addiction is gone, the M goes down, aiding any death grip issues, and separating the connection of P and M in the brain. Could this be one way to overcome the urge to watch porn? If you have a tug over any fantasy, the urge to watch porn will likely go I’d assume? And over time those fantasies become normal again. What do we think for this as a strategy?

I once implented that strategy before.but it never worked in a sense that i found it too boring to masturbate without porn because my brain associated masturbation with porn,i think thats not a good strategy in the long run.Hard mode is the way to go,you relapse learn from that.Plus i think masturbation alone is useless its like going from drinking whiskey to downgrading to beer.Rather use that energy to pursue a relationship.I hope you find this helpful

I would have to concur w/Blankfacae. Since your (our) brain has been re-wired by porn; natural mo just doesn't cut it anymore. I would venture that even if you don't view porn, you will still be reliving a a " pornclip " from the recesses of your damaged brain...stay hopeful...

  4. I personally don't think it's a good idea. It's like an alcoholic whose beverage of choice might have been hard liquor saying I'm going to quit drinking but still drinking beer.

The question I have for you guys is this- is this a modern problem caused by unrestricted access to the internet? Or simply aggravated by that?

In the 1980 s did guys masterbate? They probably did but using imagination or something like the lingerie section of a catalog unless they could deal with the shame of purchasing a “top shelf” magazine.

I would say your strategy could be the better of two bad options if you don’t have internet access. If you do then yeah I think you will be unable to resist the temptation to peak at something.

    Keep us updated.

Not everyone is cut out to be a monk - that is a reason a lot of streaks don't go past 4 days.

At the same time after a session we realize we've fried out brain and need to stop.

I think a middle ground IS actually possible but as I said in my previous posts an unrestricted private connection to the internet will mean failure except for those few guys with very strong self discipline.

During the 80's it was a problem, but multiplied ten fold in the current era. Yes, you would cower about ( the " top shelf "..lol..Also- the adult video outlets, where you would go for the " hard stuff ', always a " challenge " to remain anonymous, while in plain view ( would scope out surroundings, enter bldg when the coast was clear ? ) But this was all part of the familiar ritual, the " hunt ", much like how we spend hours on the net now, scouring for that elusive unreal visual(s) So technology changes, as does our disease ramps up...stay vigilant..

    No, it’s not.

would you smoke weed to quit cigarettes? Use opium to quit heroin?

no. P is tied into MO so no. No P no M no O.
