Okay, so I know most of you are here to cut masturbation out of your lives completely. But I personally do not want to give up masturbation, just porn.

Is masturbating without porn any better than with it? Will I still cure my mind of what porn has done to it?

    Insight and advice are appreciated!

Are you really masturbating with a blank mind - or are you creating your own lustful porn images, objectifying woman and sex all over again? Home-grown porn in the mind is probably the same effect -- but I don't know what your issues with porn are - if you just don't want to support an abusive, degrading porn industry with your money or interest by participation and viewing, then home-grown imaginations might be fine - but if porn affects you otherwise adversely as a person, then you're not really solving your problem.

Yes, masturbating without porn will most definitely be better than with porn. It's a good step towards your goals and may in-fact be all you need. Many of us here need to do more such as abstain from masturbation all together or just decrease the frequency. Also using a more realistic (non-death-grip masturbatory style) is beneficial.

It depends on what yours goals are. If you can't orgasm without porn but can with it, you should FOCUS on just quitting porn. Some may want to focus on that first anyway, that is what I do and I just fantasize about real women I flirt with in my life. Best of luck champ

Fantasies are probably not as harmful as Porn. I, for instance, believe, if you stopped the addiction or were never addicted, doing it once a while won´t be so harmful.

The thing thats dangerous about masturbation is even if you start by masturbating without porn, it will probably lead to it. You will most likely realize its easier to orgasm when you are fantasizing, that will lead to porn-subs (pictures of scantily dressed women), and you could eventually just end up back in porn.

I'm not saying this will happen, I'm just warning you that its a possibility.

    Good luck bro!

  6. Hey Epic,

Only you can really know what the right answer for you is.

I'm here to quit porn, that's my big goal. As part of that I'm also abstaining from masturbation away from P. It's not hard mode - as no sexual release is called - because I have a partner. I think you'll find it hard to engage in M without feeding your desire to watch P for a while. That's the idea of a "reboot" - to give your system a rest, to return to factory settings. From what I've read you should really try to take a break from both while this happens - 90 days has become the oft-repeated number, but that's arbitrary and we're all different.

You haven't provided much information about your problem. Do you have ED? How often are you watching P? How often are you masturbating without P?

There's nothing inherently harmful about masturbating occasionally, and perhaps in future you can do that, but for now, if you've got to the point where you need to come to this site to get help to quit porn (which is pretty intimately tied up with M for most people) you should consider giving both a rest for a while if you can.

i would very strongly advice you to stop wasting your semen by masturbating.

"Semen is a rich source of calcium, phosphorus, lecithin, cholesterol, nucleoproteins, iron, vitamin-E, sodium, magnesium, etc. So, excessive loss of semen will deprive our body of calcium, phosphorus, lecithin, etc."

Dr. Simon-Auguste-Andre-David Tissot (1728-1787): "Losing one ounce of sperm is more debilitating than losing forty ounces of blood"
