I have to agree. This post makes some good points but also the points on love and sex seem to come from a place of blocking out healthy emotions.

This forum is about recovering to achieve our healthy sexual goals after all. Still, appreciate your posts and advice in general OP!

 

Interesting ideas, so you suggest there is more spiritual balance in life when one doesn't invest too much in a woman? I would tend to agree.

However, I think love and traditional sex (with orgasm) are some things that are excessive 'highs' by default, but can add to spiritual/happiness/fulfillment when they're not influencing too much of our behaviour.

I have zero experience with tantric sex but have read quite a few people prefer it, could be something to try one day. But when it comes to love, I think it's good to invest a lot. While a) being careful to invest in a good woman, and b) not investing in her more than yourself.

milarepa you seem like a well read guy. but have in mind that what I said was about falling in love and not love itself. love is more then a feeling. it's an all-encompassing force that intertwines with our lifestyle, decisions and outcomes.

love is something that we should have for all people.

falling in love is, in my opinion, just a surge of hormones that makes you feel intensely. it has it good sides and bad sides. it's just a natural part of ones life. atm I think falling in love is something that becomes less frequent as you age, but we'll see.

but yeah it's not a necessity for life, it's just a bonus/minus that almost every human gets to deal with sometimes.

might even be smart to suppress it, i don't know.

I agree with not putting girl in first place in your life, but that is only possible with mature spiritual growth. I for example have God who is in first place in my life. Practically that worked out like this last time -
Sexual stuff with girl was almost non existent, because before marriage sex would be against Christianity morals.
And as I often woke at 5am wanting to text a girl, I held back and read Bible instead - tried put God first. Then later on like at 7 or 9am I would text her.
It's important to have honeymoon after marriage, not before marriage. - More chances to get married and more chance to stay together for life.

i disagree, get female friends. get a bunch of them. you'll appreciate women more when you see how brave and loving they can be sometimes. you'll understand women better. you'll also have a few in your friend zone because why not..
