In the past two months I have been meditating on a regular basis, and it has worked wonders! One learns that the mind is the cause of much of your stress/depression. It has helped me with my social anxiety, porn addiction, and questions about life by teaching me to observe my thoughts rather than resist them. It has uncomfortable moments and takes concentration, but I feel much more relaxed and content. For anyone interested, Aaron Doughty has some great videos on YouTube! If you’re willing to pay, Headspace is a beautiful app (what I use), but I think either one will work. If anyone has any ideas/experiences with meditation, I’d love to hear them!

Great sharing @#SoFedUp , I confirm meditation is an exceptional practice for the body and mind.

In particular, I use the Vipassana practice, from the teachings of the Gautama Buddha, it is one of the oldest meditation techniques in India. Vipassana means "insight" and "see things in-depth, as they are" clear vision of what is happening; The mind is focused on breathing.

The awareness of our inspiration and expiration can incredibly make us observe the false reality that surrounds us, made up of thoughts that come and go inexorably, like crazy splinters, the meditator can thus experience the concept of calm, tranquility and above all impermanence, everything is transient, everything changes, nothing is eternal.

For anyone who wants to learn more I recommend the book Mindfulness in Plain English: 20th Anniversary Edition by Henepola Gunaratana.

Thank you for your input! I’ll definitely check this out! Do you know if there are any good YouTube videos for this type of meditation?

Yes @#SoFedUp , there is an excellent introduction by Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche: A Guided Meditation on Body, Space, and Awareness.

My advice is to download the video, this or others about guided meditation, so that you can have them and not get lost on YouTube, looking for "other things".

    Have a nice meditation.

It's good to be mindful during your daily activities to your breath, doing, feeling, position, etc.

Exactly. I never noticed how many of my problems were caused by the brain until I shifted my awareness to the body.

    Hello @PMO addict1

As I wrote in the previous post, you could start with this video guide for the basics: Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche: A Guided Meditation on Body, Space, and Awareness.

The practice I use is called Vipassana, one of the oldest techniques, I wrote some information, in the previous post, in the beginning, there is a lot of information available on the web, see if it can interest you. Experiment, try, and trust you.

    I wish you the best.

Vipassana is not the same used by Wim Hof, that is similar to Pranayama and coming from Hatha Yoga. They are different techniques from different schools. Of course, one does not exclude the other, in a process of experimentation and testing.

My advice is to start with a simple meditation for a few minutes and then make it a habit, meditative time will also increase, excluding too strange and complex practices.

Meditation is simple, the difficulty is to practice it every day.

You could try both techniques, then see which one may be more suitable at first. Vipassana is great for starting to meditate.

    You're welcome.

I suggest you start meditation without expectations, practice it without thinking about social nervousness, if you practice Vipassana you will become more aware of your inner states. The purpose is not to eliminate a thought or state, but to accept it.

You will be able to see them for what they are, simply inner states, and develop more calm and compassion.

Feel free to practice as many times as you want, but do it every day, this is important in order not to lose consistency, gradually then you can bring meditation into your daily activities.

But my words don't matter much now, what matters is the experience you will have. Have a good practice.
