Severe withdrawls still going

Discussion in 'Rebooting - Porn Addiction Recovery' started by Deleted Account, Jan 2, 2020.

  1. Some time back on this forum i made a post regarding my withdrawal symptoms that i was going through, which were all relatively severe but i'm experiencing "New" symptoms and some of the ones in the past have reduced so here's my withdrawals currently.
    - Odd flashes of light out of the corner of my eye (Especially at night)
    - Ringing in ears
    - Pressure on ears like i'm underwater
    - Palpitations when doing physical exercise like curling a dumbbell for example (And not that heavy either)
    - Speedy fast heart rate when doing things that arent even that tough like walking up a couple short flights of stairs
    - Shortness of breath
    - Occasional strong feelings of anxiety
    - Insomnia
    - Eye floaters
    - Sharp pains throughout my body (Arms, Chest, Shoulders)
    - Blurry vision (Sometimes)
    - Burning skin (Sometimes)
    - Palpitations when eating (I've noticed this only happens if my heart rate is slight elevated above normal)
    - Restless legs
    - Sudden jerking of some body parts
    - Dizziness

Just to be clear i was perfectly fine before this, When i quit 5-6 months ago. I went to the doctors about 2 months in and they told me i was perfectly fine even after hooking up an ECG to me, doing blood tests Etc. Etc. Nothing. And whats more i've heard other people reporting near identical symptoms to me, i was fine for about 2 weeks after i quit and then the withdrawals hit me like a freight train. Im 18 years old and was planning on getting my first real job shortly before this bullshit started and now i know i cant do it cause i feel like a cripple 24/7, the only time i feel somewhat decent is when i sit down doing absolutely nothing like playing video games for example which has led me to playing quite frequently which leaves me feeling like shit because i feel like a lowlife constantly. Ive been taking supplements trying to avoid certain foods it simply doesn't work. And before some comes in here saying something like "Your porn addiction masked your anxiety, it masked your depression etc." Ill tell you what this is, nonsense. Ive dealt with anxiety and depression before this bullshit and never had anything like this and these symptoms don't match with even more severe forms of those two mental disorders.

    How do i move on?

Those symptoms are all symptoms of severe (chronic) stress. Maybe it has sth to do with you getting your first job soon. Maybe it has sth to do with a relationship, a social situation, or fear of the future. I had all of those symptoms some while ago, (and still have some of them now, during my exam phase at University where I experience a lot of stress).

    What I personally can recommend:

    - Take a blood test and see if you have enough vitamins/minerals etc. in your body

    - I can almost certainly say that your magnesium level is low, so it's very important to check that one out. Some symptoms (Sudden jerking of some body parts etc.) are a sign of low magnesium levels. I would advise taking supplements.

    - Go see a therapist, (or if you can't afford one, talk to someone close). Those are symptoms of underlying issues. I was in the same position as you when I was around 19 or 20. Believe me, it will help you (but it takes time).

Hope that I could help a bit

I've also developed some of those symptoms 3 months after starting nofap. Most concerning is tinnitus and eye floaters. I have done blood tests and everything is fine. It must be related to porn withdraw..
    Does it ever go away?

I hear ya bro. Withdrawal symptoms are all normal and part of the process. Don’t worry about it. Just know that your brain is trying to play tricks on you to try to get you to give in and end your streak. What your brain is telling you is not real and it will go away with time.
