Made it through first legit PMO craving..End of Day 8

Discussion in 'Success Stories' started by meanderthal, Jun 4, 2015.

  1. I've read peoples horror stories of white knuckling it through cravings in the first days and weeks. My biggest challenge has been more of breaking the habit and not so much fighting the compulsion. Perhaps that is because I have avoided the things that cause a compulsion. Until last night my surroundings have been kept more/less sterilized of porn, suggestive photos, and sex-laden television shows. I deleted all "dating" apps and am not searching Tumblr or similar sites for photos.

Anyway, I was half watching a TV show last night while playing Words with Friends and reading posts on this site on my iPad when I quickly became aware that the two characters were starting to have sex. I suppose I knew I would encounter this at some point.

I was barely watching, but the audio (moaning, objects being swept of table, etc) alone, although subtle at first, caused major excitement. Then it was pretty clear that it was not just making love, but more of a forbidden sex situation.

Suffice it to say I was one grip away from M without realizing it. My blood pressure shot up, I could feel my brain wake up as if I were just in a coma, I was tingling EVERYWHERE, i could feel my heart beating in my ears. My resisting the temptation made it even worse. This was around 10:30 or 11:00 last night, which also happens to be my PMO "prime time".

Anyway - I made it through. For me, it felt just as intense as wanting to drink, smoke a cigarette or snort something. I didn't have to do any of that, I just had to tell myself that I am safe and that I want to fall asleep sober. The feelings were gone soon after.

Awesome man! Good job. Use it to strengthen your resolve. Don't use it to "reward" yourself in the future. If I were you I would never watch that show again. It's like a bear trap in the woods. It doesn't really care about you. It just wants your eyes on the screen so you see the ads or get the viewers.

  3. Thanks jason3. Luckily it's a BBC series having very little to do with sex and I only have two episodes left.

I was watching tv to not think about porn... Oh the irony.

Awesome, Post! Its amazing how once we recognize this as the same as any other addictions that is when we are then able to breakthrough it.

"Use it to strengthen your resolve. Don't use it to "reward" yourself in the future." Words i'm going to live bye.
