PMO + (Fill in the blank)

Discussion in 'Self Improvement' started by Deleted Account, Apr 29, 2020.

  1. The majority of us on this forum have ultimately the same problem.

    PMO. Obviously

But what other unhealthy ways do you cope? I smoke, drink, look at dating apps, browse my phone etc etc etc.
Just now, I was watching lecture on youtube. Fine. My mind began to wander and ruminate on a financial decision I made that I'm now a bit frustrated at.

    What did I do?

Grab my phone and start scrolling. Scrolling what? Nothing. Just aimless non sense.

Think about all the unhealthy ways you try and distract yourself and the healthier ways you can replace them with.

That is what i'm currently working on.

    Hope this helps in anyway!

  3. This is a massively overlooked topic. I'm glad you brought this up. Many people believe that NoFap and ONLY NoFap is a cure for all of our discomfort in life. But I and certainly others believe that in order for NoFap to be worth anything, you must apply the same discipline to other areas of your life. Yes, quitting porn is a major goal, but what's the most important thing we get from NoFap is the PRINCIPLE. The principle of withholding your impulsivity in favor of reason.

For me, it is the dark triad of PMO, Video Games (Vidya), and the Internet. If unrestricted, I will binge on all three. If I leave myself without two, I will binge solely on the other. That is how I have learned that I must quit all 3 in order for happiness to be achieved.

You don't have to quit every bad habit cold turkey at the same time - that can be overwhelming. On my highest streak, I quit porn for about 45 days then I stopped video games, and after another month, I quit using the internet impulsively. The results were far better than NoFap alone.

That is a very powerful statement my man "The principle of withholding your impulsivity in favour of reason"

My life can mostly be described as "unusual"

I know people who have lived a more destructive life than I have... yet when they hear about the things ive been involved with and seen... they raise an eyebrow and go "huh". Even they are surprised, and mildly amused.
I always believed that "the best things were done in excess" that they needed to be impulsive and novel.

This is a good summary of those things.

If you constantly seek excess, the times that are non excessive will depress you because you're bored.
So what's the solution? Always live in excess?
Ok, if you're always living in excess, over time it just becomes your day to day life, which therefore you will no longer find excessive. Then it just becomes you're boring run of the mill life.

When you're watching porn, remember this: those porn stars ARE AT WORK WORKING. This is why so many of them develop issues with cocaine, alcohol etc.

You might think I have a nice summary coming up, or a solution... but not really. At the end of the day, I'm simply sharing what i've seen and observed over the years. Hopefully it helps you understand your own predicament in life.
