I havent found my guru yet.
And i dont follow any specific school as such. I take helpful inputs from many places and try my best to sincerely put them in practice.

I read books from the Sri Ramakrishna Math(Sri Ramakrishna, Swami Vivekananda and Sarada Devi and other monks), Swami Sivananda of Divine Life Society, Swami Chinmayananda of Chinmaya Mission, little bit of Nochur Venkataraman and Ramana Maharishi and the wide range of Masters and literature on Kriya Yoga.
Ive also slightly peeked into the Upanishads and the Bhagavad Gita.

    What about you?

i also don't believe in the concept of following, but yes I do certain methods from Sadhguru Jaggi vasudev (not from him personally but through his teachers), he says you should'nt follow any guru/school, just try their methods, if they work then go ahead otherwise discard it.
His methods have worked so far.

I've meditated daily for a while now. It's a great way to distance yourself from porn. Meditating releases dopamine, so it can become a healthy replacement behavior for PMO.

there is a chemical called anandamide (ananda=ecstasy) in our brain, the scientist who discovered it says there are millions of cannaboid receptors in our brain. SO they are just lying there to be activated. I think dopamine & anandamide are just small things, if we follow the path there is unending blissfullness in it. That's why great saints and gurus were never interested in sex and body pleasures, not because they are bad, but because they were capable of self generating it. They did'nt need any external stimuli for pleasure, they were self sufficient

I like this post, about meditation and its importance.

But, I feel like it is very important for a person to have a Guru/Mentor for guidance in Life.

Once I did a simple meditation technique for 7 days is a row and I couldn't get myself to fap the next time I tried, it was difficult, but ultimately, I lost the battle and gave in. But I vividly remember that week because it felt good all the while I was meditating. There are plenty of types of meditation, but we must chose whatever is best and what works for us.

you are right, try some methods by any school/guru, if they work continue with them, if they don't discard it.
you should have stuck to your mediatation and not given in, anyways you can follow the above link and try this out too if the previous one didnt work

  12. I too have just started using meditation while on Nofap.I was on a 12 day streak but I stopped doing it after 7 days (dont know why).I felt great and I have just started doing it again.I doing it for at least 3 times a day. This has really helped clear my mind of sexual thoughts that may be lurking on my mind.I want to be able to do this everyday and I also want to get into deeper levels of meditation. This is the best tool, when doing nofap and I would reccomend this to anyone struggling with lasting even a day or two.
