How to Get Rid of Lustful Thoughts

Discussion in 'Compulsive Sexual Behavior' started by Optimum Fortitude, Dec 16, 2019.

  1. Hey guys,

Sometimes I have viscious, perverted thoughts that come to my mind out of the blue. They're not P-flashes but they're P fantasies.

I find that really disturbing and I'd like to get rid of them. I know I'm not responsible for those thoughts popping up (as long as I don't entertain them). I also know these types of thoughts don't define who I am. But it's disturbing, and sometimes it makes me feel like I'm a bad perverted person.

So, is there a way to completely get rid of lustful perverted thoughts?

Don't get too caught up in the idea of completely getting rid of it. After all if you're free of the lust and just have a memory of the kind of thought that used to come up, then you're not going to act on it anyway.

I would say the way to work with this is to increase the other kinds of thoughts so that you not only have less of the problematic ones but because of your level of self-understanding they lose their power because you see it in a greater context. You have more of a sense of perspective like you used to be this kid or something, but you don't feel like that kid anymore even if you remember the kind of stuff you did back then.

You can learn not just about porn addiction and how to recover but related subjects like human sexuality as a scientific discipline, developmental psychology and how you change over time and so forth.

  3. Good or bad, its only a thought...let it pass, but don't dwell in it too much. I have these perverted thought too, and i feel like i need them to appear, but then think about something else. I know it's hard to do that, but when we have a glimpse of awakening or mind to real things, we can do it. Good luck in your reboot.

  4. Thanks yall.

I been training hard on my mindfulness skills. For some reason, having such thoughts I can't help but think it's in my nature and that I'm a pervert. With all the porn I watched in my life it requires a lot of creativity for something to arouse me. Freaking scary.

  5. I hope you can understand that temptation is for everyone.
You are the one who chooses at the end.

Other than this, you can have a New Life in Jesus Christ. Putting all the old habits and memories and P stupid stuff on His cross.
You can born again in Jesus Christ!

There is a God, who really loves you and wants you to give the best life, starting here on earth!

  6. Nah man, you're human, and most of us have these thoughts. Some people think that its normal to be like that. My opinion is that we tassume that we are pervents because in our super-sexualized society brainwash us since we are kids, by the media. I think that the point of the PMO reboot is not to make us stop having please with sex, but to have a fullfiling sexual life, without these crazy fantasies that we have.
Anyway, we are not alone on this problem.

Deep and old conditioning still doesn't equal your nature. But mindfulness does have to do with the nature of mind.

The fact that you find the thoughts disgusting means you are probably giving these thoughts too much power. So you might be inadvertently encouraging them. I believe that what we expose ourselves to can influence our thoughts, even the ones that pop into our mind. But we don’t really directly cause the thoughts that pop into our mind. The negative thoughts aren’t like the secret real us working their way through the nice guy facade.

The best way to deal with this is to just observe the thought without judgment. You could even decide that the thought is ridiculous and laugh at it. The key is to not give the thought any weight. If you do then it is strangely actually more likely to recur.

It is also a good idea to put it in context by tracing the cause and effect of the thought. Not in general like "I saw porn at a young age" which you're going to think you already know about, but this specific instance of why you just thought of it. You are then thinking about how you got the thought rather than just thinking of thought as a static fixed thing, and in doing so you come to understand the dynamic relationship of how it comes up.

Instead of the gravity, you always turn your attention to how you can work with it, even if you don't know what that is yet. You get curious. Communicating with each other here is a great tool when we are too stuck in our thought patterns to get other perspectives and get the wheel moving again.

Sometimes I get similar concerns. The point is to NOT deny your sexuality but to domesticate it. As far as the perversion goes, I think you're right that it may be due to your history of porn abuse. But as long as you keep developing yourself and abstain from PM especially to extreme stuff, you'll be alright over time. You need to accept that your history has created consequences. That's what happens when you let your mind go off into the slums of the internet. Accept it. It's unfortunate. But you can overcome this.
