Erotic/sexual literature/erotica

Discussion in 'Porn Addiction' started by Knight7tranquility, Apr 21, 2015.

  1. Erotic literature is porn :(
I binged last week on erotic literature on Sunday and Monday. April 12th-13th.
I will admit it turns me on and I know its bad.

Pros: I haven't watched porn in months. Thats a big step of improvement!
The erotica is evidently a substitute that I will defeat.
Today, April 21st I read some stories for some hours.

This is a bad vice. I accept this truth.

I will gradually fix it and lessen the amount I consume until I eventually don't need it.

My goal is to inevitably get to the point where I will put it behind me and it will not be a part of my life for as long as I live.

  2. I can totally relate, Erotic stories were what got me started on my porn addiction and unlike porn it is harder for me to convince my self that it is bad to look at. After all while porn has real girls that have to go through disgusting hardships erotic literature are just words on a page. However the understanding that finally helped me is that while no one is begin harmed in the making of said literature it is still harmful to read both because it perpetuates many of the negitive themes and ideas in porn and because to robs me of the motivation and fulfillment to seek out true real love in the real world. Don't be too hard on your self, I know that we can beat this together. Rebooting our brains is a journey and there will be setbacks along the road but if we lean from them just like you are doing then they will make us stronger in the long run. :)

  3. Thank you for your sincerity and support good, Gentleman. I know that that erotic literature in't as bad as porn, but its still bad in my opinion, because if you have a relationship you are willingly looking for extra sexual stimuli that are not from your partner. So to me its unfaithful. I always have to be hard on myself, if I'm not who will? :)

Such literature robs me of motivation and makes me feel depressed and sad and unworthy.

Do you personally know any sites that block erotica? There are sites that block pornographic images and videos, but are there sites that block all 3 or just erotic literature?

Erotic lit has been tough for me at times too. Same type of deal. Didn't feel it was as bad. It always led to a desire for more though. Listening or reading erotic stuff was the start of a re-entry into PMO that I am know trying to reboot from. It all started with erotic literature. While I would say that its not as bad in practice, deep down...its just as bad. While I wasn't watching anything, it still made me feel like shit for doing it. And, it really stimulated my brain in the direction of porn, because its easy to visualize. When you can visualize, you want to actually see it.

As far as blocking it, I don't know of any.

  5. Many people highly recommend K-9 however I have not tried it yet so I can not say for sure how it works with erotica. Here is a link to a great article talking about good options for porn blockers on your PC.

I my self use Parental control for my windows 7 along with the URL Redirector Browser Plugin Set such that if I try to go to one of my old erotic a websites I instantly get redirected to a sacred sexuality project video. It is a great little reminder of my commitment because unlike a normal porn blocker I do not get the "maybe I can find a way to trick this into letting me see something erotic with out deactivating it" urge, and instead am reminded that this specific redirect command is one I set myself and it helps me to remember the reason why I set it in the first place. Granted none of these are fool proof but they at the very least buy you a few extra minutes, and hopefully in that time you can come to your senses and stop.

  6. Thank you very much Gentleman. I've clicked the link that you posted and I have another internet page that is about "URL Redirector Browser Plugin Set". On this forum K-9 is highly recommended, but I can't install it, because I'm not the admin on the family computer that is available to me. When I get my own computer I'm going to fill it up with parental controls and Anti-porn software and internet protection software. All this virtual sexuality has to GO! For me, it will be out of my life for the end of my days. Thanks for the motivational message. We'll conquer this!

  7. I wish there were more studies that focused on erotic literature: a sub genre of pornography's effect on the brain. Most likely, don't quote me here NoSaint, but erotica literature probably does do something to the brain since it gives physical arousal. Reading porn and watching porn are similar in my view, because as you said when you read it you do have to focus on reading, but when it you watch it you have to focus on watching it for however long as well.

  8. Thanks for your thoughts Pourover24.
Let's defeat erotic lit! I understand you completely when it comes to visualizing erotic lit and feeling like garbage after reading it. Let's defeat erotic lit! Its a part of winning the porn battle!

  9. Another option that I have used is an app called Cloudacl I use it for my FireFox and it has some good settings for blocking porn as well as a block list and allow list so that you can configure it to you needs. This is another good article that gives more choices. It was linked in the last
article as well but I missed it on the first read through so thought I would add it here just to be safe.
