Lately I have been waking up early in the morning, 2 or 3 am. After that I can't get back to sleep again.
Even in the afternoon I can't manage to take a nap.

Not sure if it's to do with breaking the addiction or something else. Has anyone encountered a similar situation?

I was bordering between being awake and being half asleep last night. Finally got too tired to stay awake and finally fell asleep out of exhaustion...but only for a few hours. I depended on PMO to push me into sleep for a very long time...so I definitely think it's related. Not really sure how I'm going to deal with sleep issues in the future. I hear going to gym an hour or so before going to bed isn't a good idea since the dopamine levels in your brain become high and you can't "switch off". Not sure how much truth there is to that. Need to do a bit of research...what does everyone else do to get to sleep?

Alcohol and melatonin work wonders for the initial stages of quitting PMO.
Always wake up at the same time everyday no matter how tired you are. Going to bed early is not important, waking up at the same time is.
Excercise during the day. Avoid caffiene. Don't eat 3 hours before bed.
Sleep issues are generally caused by anxiety and restlessness, so some meditations can help, but their effectiveness is based on you.
I used to have super bad insomnia, and it was all in my head and nothing could really touch it longer then a week, I was taking ambien and restoril, but they became ineffective.
I got over my insomnia finally when I got over the emotional issues underlying it.

start reading a course book when you wake up..(just kidding) there may be something in back of your mind bothering you..maybe fear of exams, any problem, it can be anything... just plug in your headphone and start listening to a slow song(always works for me) stay healthy....stay positive....stay away from PMO.... God bless.... :)

Do you look at a screen right before bed, or when you're up at 2AM and can't fall asleep? Because it might be tied to the effects that smartphones/computers/tablets have on our sleeping patterns. There have been some in-depth studies that show that the light from these devices wreak havoc on the length and quality of our sleep.

Alcohol is a bad idea, it helps you fall asleep but the sleep is way less as restorative as when you had no alcohol in your body. Even small amounts of alcohol can downgrade the quality of your sleep. On the electronic devices, there are apps that make your screen red as the sun goes down. The red light filters out the blue light that is withholding your brain from producing melatonin.

Before nofap I would jerk myself to sleep, but it did't work anymore. That is one of the reasons I started this new habit of nofap. When you go and sleep somewhere else, with other people in the same room, it's such a struggle if you lay there and can't fall asleep because you can't fap. I'm only 5 days into this journey, but it is clearly paying off! I fall asleep faster and without the urges to fap myself to sleep! But it can also partially be linked to the regular wake up times I have set for myself, I think both can be accounted for it.

I'm guilty of a lot of what's been mentioned so far. Browsing the internet, coffee in the afternoon, gym late in the day, eating an hour before sleeping, irregular sleep hours, and of course I used PMO right before bed to overcome these stimulants to be able to fall asleep. What's been great so far about making this commitment to no PMO is that it's been making me think about how I can change my lifestyle as a whole. Going to try and change these habits to what's been suggested here.

I did try melatonin about a year ago and it worked great. The only draw back was that I used to get these really crazy vivid dreams and I would occasionally wake up with headaches but I think the later was due to the fact that I went with a slightly higher dosage a few times. Might try it again if I struggle with changing habits.

Yes, I've experienced the same symptoms as you have, but for different reasons. You see, I have bipolar and I take sleep medication as part of my daily life schedule in order to function mentally. When I did my first 30 days of no pmo, on the 31st day, my brain was craving for porn and I relapsed. Now, I can't sleep because of the stress in my life such as school, work, and a car accident about a week ago. My medication has been increased, but other than that, I don't know what else to tell you. I'm attempting 30 days hard mode of no pmo for the 3rd time and I know it's going to be the same struggle as before. I'm expecting the sleep problems, but everyone is different. Just saying.

From an evolutionary standpoint, I think I read that's because the displays are so colorful. Our ancestors only saw these colors during the day, and now we're staring right into them whenever we want. Especially the bright blue light which we know from the sky tells our body that it's daytime.

You can also avoid unnecessary electric light before sleep. When I go to the toilet I often do it in the dark. It can be a pleasure to be in a dark room, you will notice how relaxing it is for eyes. I sometimes meditate before bed with no electric light, but a single candle before me. (However, candlelight is not bright enough for reading, which is usually the last thing I do before sleep.)

I think it could be related on the count of me having sleep issues as well even though I'm pretty far into my NoFap journey . I also been having allergies lately ( Don't know why since I've never had allergies in my life ) thus probably keeping me up but I think abstaining from pmo could trigger some sleep issues too .
