You're scrolling down through the pics, and then you find a female friend with cleavage or showing her ass... Jeez, sometimes I feel like Instagram is a disguised porn site.
Eventually you will get to where it doesn't affect you strongly anymore but in recovery it might help to stay away from things like that and make this easier on yourself.
Look up the definition of PSUB in the Glossary at the top of this page. If you go looking for trouble, and "scrolling down through the pics" without any clear aim other than finding something that may be interesting is definitely looking for trouble, you'll often find it and the results won't be good. If I-gram is causing problems for you, don't go there - block it or delete your account. One day at a time is how we all succeed.
It really is If you truly cannot delete it, because you use it to text your mates, then consider unfollowing anyone who causes triggers. (I think that's how Instagram works...)
Yup. I think you can still unfollow someones feed without unfollowing them "for real". I'd recommend doing that, but I relate to your pain.
Yeah I deinstalled that app too a few month ago. I used it mainly to follow artists and then expanded to cosplay chicks. And the cosplay chicks were too triggering. Not in the sense that I was scared that I relapse, but I was using them as a substitute for porn. Some of them had genuinely great looking shots that are worth looking at, but most of it was cheap ass and tit bait.'E Once I also noticed that I don't really appreciate the art anymore because I"m just looking for 1-2 secs before scrolling on I realized there was no reason to waste my time with this. Anyway, comedian Chris D'Elia here makes a valid point about Insta-Chicks xD:
I disabled FB , messenger, insta, snap anything like that. Miss them like a root canal, more time to text the wife now anyway
Anything that allows people to portray their life or themselves as a fantasy is ridiculous. It's very much like porn. People's lives are portrayed through a series of short messages, pictures and videos. They are no longer human - they are pixels, like porn. So in my view, social media is the enemy of anyone trying to stamp out porn.
