Hello all, I am a 21 year old college student who has been trying to quit porn for years now. I haven't been able to succeed with my own methods and will. What are some methods, tactics, and ways you have all used to stop viewing P? I can barely go three days without looking at P and then MO. I do it almost subconsciously against my will. Its like my mind is possessed and I just ignore the voice in the back of my head telling me to stop. I am completely lost in my fight against PMO. Please help. Thank you all.

I feel so related whit this, it's so hard going through all this, because you think that you can go against it but unfortunately this evil thing beats you and makes feel terrible after all.
I'm sorry for not having any idea to give you, at least we know that we have to quit for our own good.

I know. Don't you feel like you're being controlled by some other force when you go to watch P? Its like your brain isnt yours anymore and its so fucking terrible. It makes you feel so weak and without power.

To be honest, it's a process man...you'll fail dozens of times before breaking through. And it's frustrating, because most of the time you don't even really enjoy it because of the instant wave of regret and disgust that follows. The first couple weeks are going to be the hardest. I'm sure you've seen people with their day counter in the triple digits, and see that as out of reach, right? I was the same way for sure. But the truth is, once you reach a certain point it just becomes a maintenance thing...in my experience (and because you're also fairly young, this would be similar for you) if you can break 4 weeks, you'll be well on your way. That being said, it's going to be an absolute battle to get there, but the benefits are completely worth it...like tackling my porn addiction has changed and improved my life in so many ways. I'll never let it take over my life again.
    1) You need to have a couple of the main reasons for quitting kept in the forefront of your mind...one or two of your strongest motivators. Write them down somewhere.
    2) Physically keep yourself from temptation. Keep your computer out of your room, and stay out of your room yourself except to sleep...or keep your bedroom door open.
    3) If you do end up relapsing, make a note of why you did...what time it was, how you were feeling etc., and avoid replicating those parameters.
    4) Focus on improving other aspects of your life. You gotta fill the space that porn leaves behind. If you don't fill that time with productive habits, it's going to come right back. Set some goals for yourself, like what you want to accomplish by the end of the month, and come up with a plan to reach them. You're trying to life a lifestyle that doesn't include porn.
    5) Exercise, eat well, drink lots of water, and try to sleep as consistently as possible. You gotta do everything you can to be in a good frame of mind, and mentally alert.
    6) Watch NoFap vloggers...I found this helpful anyways. Check out Universal Man's Sexual Self-Mastery Series, he breaks it down really well.

Those are just a few that came to mind, feel free to reach out if you have further questions. I'm not perfect obviously, I just lost an 81 day streak a couple days ago....but I know what it takes to reach that number, and how good it feels man!
I think the main thing is this: Don't let your life be dictated by porn. This includes avoiding porn. If your only focus in life is to avoid porn, porn is still running your life, if that makes sense. The ultimate goal is to improve your lifestyle in a number of different ways, until you're living a life that happens to not include porn...because at that point, you're not even thinking about it anymore. You won't even want to watch porn if I asked you to.
But once again, at first, it's just about doing what you can to avoid porn...because the urges are going to be intense and frequent, and you gotta power through it!
But you got what it takes, and the fact that you're on this forum means you're serious about this. Stick to it, and success will come.

  8. As you can see from my counter I'm not exactly the most successful at this, but I have some advice to add.

Read some books related to the subject like Your Brain on Porn. When you read about how porn is an addiction and how it affects your brain this journey takes on a new meaning.

Try and cut down on internet use full stop whether it be on your laptop or phone. If you feel a strong urge and you've lost control and are actually picking up a device to access porn, have a go-to website (such as this forum) or a motivational video or some music that you can click on straightway to divert your mind away from what you were going to do. My go-to website is this one and my video is by a YouTuber called Leonard Banks called something like "when I knew life was bad".

When you feel like giving up, write your thoughts down. It's strange how your mind starts changing when you're writing your thoughts down. Also think about positive things that have come from nofap so far.
