So as the title says, it's day 6 and I'm starting to go crazy here. I try to occupy my time as much as I can, but still my mind wanders to some really, really hot thoughts. It's ok during the day time when I just start to focus more on what I'm doing but when I go to bed and I'm the type of person who won't fall asleep as fast as normal people do, every few seconds my mind wanders off to "those" thoughts.

Does anyone have any tips, tricks how to keep my mind from wandering off to these kinds of thoughts which could render my efforts useless? I'm not willing to give up on day 6 god dammit. My goal is 90 days and I'm gonna reach that goal whether I go through the depths of hell to reach that goal or not.

By the way, I'm having a real trouble focusing today throughout the day. It's like I have ADD suddenly.

    Got to be strong...

I don't know what time of the day it is where you live, but some really intense exercise could help. It might generate some endorphins, it may give you a healthier (i.e. smaller) dose of dopamine to keep the brain away from the cravings.

Otherwise, just buckle down and get through it. Remember that this will pass. You just have to be stronger than it.

I've started doing HIIT exercises. Actually the days I'm doing them, I'm more calm and able to focus easily. You know what. I think I'm going to do some HIIT right now. Thanks for the suggestion :)

Yep, really intensive workout does wonders. I'm calm and focused now. Thanks again, Steel Fury, for the idea!

Here's what I do at such moments, it's a mental exercise: I visualize my emotions hovering around me in a swarm. There are thin silver lines connecting them to my head (thoughts). I find the one that's causing the undesirable thoughts. And I cut the line and watch it drift away or fall down. It's based on a theory by Eckhart Tolle as described in his book The Power of Now.
    Stay strong, brother!

That's an interesting idea. It's like meditating your thoughts and by that finding the source of all these undesirable thoughts. Should read "The Power of Now" myself. Thanks for the idea, Yanneck!

Thats a good call Yanneck. Visualising our neural links and seeing the negative ones break down..
I'm gonna give it a go.

When I'm having unbelievable urges I put my shoes on and leave the house. Either for a walk or just a short drive. Look at my sobriety date... It works.
Put your favorite music on, relaxing music. Think of anything but acting out. By the time you get home you're urge is low enough to manage.

That sounds like a good idea, Justquit. I'd listen to some audiobook and go for a long 1 hour walk, so I would learn something new this way and also get the benefit of physical movement.

    Punching something helps relieve it.
