Why do we must quit it?This TCM book will give us answer.

  1. This book, The Inner Essence Harmed And The Practice for Health Essence Preservation, was written by Dr. Peng, in China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences. It gives a reason why we should keep away from lewdness (at the first half of the book) in the view of TCM (Traditional China's Medicine), as well as the ways to get healthy from the physical problems caused by lewdness (at the last part of the book).

  2. The editor&translator's notes for the pre-words for the book.

Here let me share a saying from Peking University with everyone. It is also meaningful here.

Today, starting from here, let us face all kinds of situations fearlessly.
As long as the nation does not revive, our responsibility will not be fulfilled.
As long as there are still poor people in the world, it’s ourselves that are in poverty.
As long as there are suffering people in the world, it’s ourselves that are in suffering.

The sentences are not only the essence of Chinese traditional culture, but also the quality/makings that everyone on the earth have essentially.

The following words are some of my thoughts in the process of learning TCM. I hope to share them with you.
People often say moderation is best, while the phrase "moderation is harmless/best" is not absolute, and things are not constant. However, “moderation is best” is common in life. For example, we feel cold in winter and hot in summer, but a middle and moderate temperature is really suitable, and, similarly, the high and low body temperature will be uncomfortable, while a moderate body temperature is healthy. Therefore, there are many examples that can be used as the basis of "moderation is the best", whereas there are also some things that can’t nonetheless. Any law is conditional. If one theorem was applied to the other conditions, then it might become a fallacy. We often judge things by common sense, which inevitably leads to mistakes sometimes. There are a lot of things that can't be used for support that moderation is best, which includes the addictive things, for example, drugs. No one would say moderate drug use for a healthy person. Why? For a healthy person, just a little bit of drugs can turn on the addiction switch, like Pandora's box. For the first time, the one can control the usage quantity, while, in the following, the one will be controlled under the addiction, when there is no margin for "moderation". It’s because after the addiction is satisfied, the addiction will not decrease, but will increase, which is exactly the characteristic of addiction. The one may even receive some "benefits" from the addiction in the process.

There are always exceptions, and someone is better in the masturbators. But don't take the exception as the one you want to emulate, as an excuse for addiction. We all know that gambling is as addictive as drugs. It’s well known that, in life, we should be away from these gamblers and alcoholics, and close to good teachers and virtuous friends. Many of those gamblers lost their property in debt, and their families were fragmented and their lives got miserable. In the beginning, they started with just small bets, didn't they? However, there are always exceptions, which are badly unavoidable events sometimes. In this case, for example, there are still some so-called "gambling king" who make a lot of money by gambling. But do you want to be the so-called "gambling king"? Or do you choose to study virtues and work so as to contribute to society and others?

The addict may let the one unable to extricate self and stop after their first attempt, exactly as the drug addict is. Some people thinks that it would be enough if enjoying the addiction for only once, which is undoubtedly fantastic. Just as drinking saline only makes you thirsty, the more you enjoy/satisfy the addiction, the more you become addicted, and it will never be satisfied. It’s the same case as that of the people having masturbation. If you've seen many stories of people with masturbation for years, you'll find that their experiences are amazingly similar. The first time when they get addicted and controlled by the addiction, the addiction is constantly cultivated, more and more heavy. Then they further convince themselves to accept it reasonably, until the physical and mental problems. If the addiction can be truly satisfied by one’s enjoying it, then some people have enjoyed thousands of wonderful desires in their lives, but why is the greed still, and didn’t it alleviate with the time going by? Although drugs are external, people's body and mind also have this internal addiction mechanism. It's like a Pandora box, so that the addicts just see the so-called benefits, but don't know, in the whole view, the Pandora's box brings pain.

It may take a process to quit the lewdness Pandora Box, and even cause a withdrawal reaction, but, in the general view, after leaving off the Pandora Box, there is no doubt that we have leaved the dark, without the trash, going for purity and sunshine.

In addition, it's not difficult to recover, as long as you do in the reverse way, as the opposite from the factors causing lewdness.

  4. Foreword

The demand for knowledge of TCM (traditional China's medicine) is increasing, but this subject belongs to the holistic type (holism) of science, and it is dissimilar with the familiar reductionism model of Western medicine. In addition, compared with Western culture, some of China's cultures have been gradually forgotten in the past hundred years. Therefore, it is not easy to introduce traditional China's medicine to the public effectively, the spreading of which entails high requirements as the following. First of all, the TCM culture propagator must have not only a thorough understanding of the connotation of TCM, but also a rich practical experience and real understanding for public needs. Besides, they must be good express-er, so that readers can accurately understand. The author of this book Dr. Peng Xin is a rare young person who meets these requirements. I, nearly twenty years older than Dr. Peng Xin, has greatly benefited and often gotten fresh and enthusiastic inspiration from the long-term academic contacts with him. His exuberant thirst for knowledge, profound learning and inner cultivation, and a considerate disposition left me a deep and fine impression, we have make a friendship between/despite our different generations and form a friendship in career.

In the theoretical framework of TCM, the inner essence, Qi and "spirit" are the three most basic and core concepts, which run through philosophy and science, and integrate theory with practice. They are the keys to enter the door of TCM, many concepts of which can be derived from the all three, and a large number of health care problems can also be settled by the most fundamental solution in this way.

It is especially worth mentioning that these three concepts involve both academic property of TCM and common sense, they are not so academic, and easy to be accepted by the public. It is based on the point here that Dr. Peng explored and then formed his unique TCM health care concept and method. The outline of this book starts with "the inner essence" and involves the general questions about medicine principles, health care, treatment, medication, which have been explained in very succinct, vivid, and targeted ways, in order to help readers understanding their own demands, which is instructive. And what is more significant is that, Dr. Peng has unreservedly presented and dedicated various health care methods, tested by himself, to everyone.

This is a book not only for knowledge popularity in public, but it is also helpful for TCM professionals. It runs through a mean line from theory to practice, from tradition to modernity, from science to life. The book not only accurately matches the actual needs of readers, but also properly links to the classical theory category of TCM and it has extended the problems and confusions, encountered by ordinary people, to scientific deep discussions and at the same time, in a relaxed meandering style, has realized a close "dialogue" between ancient sages and contemporary people, which is a kind of skill indispensable to TCM practitioners. Whether to engage in theoretical research, clinical treatment, health care or industrial development, one must closely integrate the ancient traditional knowledge with modern life, otherwise, there would be a very embarrassing scene: to bring a cup of tasteless light tea, or to bring a pot of unpresentable strong tea, both of which are not what we need people's needs. This is what the life demands for the TCM circles.

By Dr. Xiao-Tong Ma, the director for TCM basic theory in science and education department, in China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences.

  6. Part 1. A lecture in QingDao City - One of the primary causes for harming health, damaging virtues and shortening lifetime.

Ladies and gentlemen: Good morning, everyone!

Let me introduce myself first: my name is Peng Xin. I am a doctor graduated from The Beijing University of Chinese Medicine. After my doctor degree, I worked in the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences, engaged in the research of TCM theory and clinical practice. Up to now, I have studied China traditional culture for five years, I feel that China traditional culture and the teachings of ancient sages are of great virtues for the heart and body. Now I would like to begin the report to everyone. The theme is "One of the primary causes for harming health, damaging virtues and shortening lifetime".

(1.1 The phenomena in the modern life.)

Nowadays, there is a very popular topic in the society, that is, "health preservation". Health preservation/care means keeping your body and mind in a healthy state. But, let's have a look at the current condition, as the enhancement of national strength and people's richer and richer material life, by contrary, people's health quality is declining. The incidence of stroke, diabetes, cancer and some other miscellaneous diseases are increasing year by year.

Ancient people have a saying that, if your efforts all fall flat you should resort to yourself. As TCM doctors, we shoulder two responsibilities: the first is to treat diseases, the second is for health preservation. Since there is a problem with the health of the people, we are duty bound to that. As a TCM doctor, I apologize to everyone here, because we did unwell.

As I said just now, people's bodies are in a state of decay, manifesting a variety of diseases, which might not be solved by many hospitals, and the pain accompanies their life. There is a very important reason, which is also a point cared about by medical experts in all ancient dynasties. That is, the harmfulness, from the chaotic relationship between men and women, is extremely serious to the human physical body.

Now in China society, with the overflow of Western values, we can see that there is a very chaotic phenomenon in this land of China with 5000 years of civilization. What is it? That is the openness and overflow of sex. (According to TCM and China’s culture, premarital sex is also harmful invisibly, not to mention openness and overflow of sex.)

When we walk in the street, we see many pictures on billboards that are very explicit and arouse people's desire. When one walks to the newsstand, more than 50% of the women on the cover of newspapers and magazines are very exposed, which causing people's evil thoughts. When we turn on the computer and click to the network, we will find that there are endless bad links between the computer and the network. On many well-known international and domestic websites are such links on their home pages. When we turn on the TV, we will find the plots in the TV series, such as a kept woman and extramarital affairs, are very common.

On the one hand, these thoughts of overflowing sexual desire have polluted people's thoughts and mind; on the other hand, they have caused double heavy damage to people's body and mind.

The overflow of sexual desire is called "the chancellor fire stirring crankily" by the ancient doctors. According to the theory of Traditional China Medicine, there are two kinds of "fire" in the body: one is "sovereign fire" and the other is "chancellor fire". That is to say, as for the human body's fire, the sovereign fire should play a proper part, the chancellor fire should play a supporting role. If the chancellor's duty which should have been settled was not done well and then the chancellor fire went with caprice, it would consume people's Yin and inner essence, and lead to serious diseases more and more. Many diseases arise from this.

(1.2 The relations between ledwness and some diseases in modern life, according to TCM.)

In my clinical research work of TCM, I have summed up the following kinds of harms to the body. Hence, I'll report to you one by one.

(1.2.1 The lewdness, a part of contabutions to the diabete.)

First of all, there is increasing prevalence of a disease in society every year, and it shows a trend of rate in younger age. What is this disease? -The Diabetes, which is called "the rich disease" by many people. Before the 1960s or 1970s in China, the incidence rate of this disease was not high. With the reform and opening up and the improvement of people's material life, the incidence rate of this disease is getting higher and higher.

Now I would like to report to you why the confusion between men and women can lead to diabetes.

There is a general concept that excessive or intemperate diet may lead to diabetes. According to the theory of TCM, this concept is called "mid-reduction". Diabetes is called "reduction thirst disease" in ancient times. The ancients divided "reduction thirst disease" into three types, up, mid and down reduction.

The "up-reduction" is caused by Yin [1] and Qi [2] deficiency of lung. It is characterized by thirst and excessive drinking. The "mid-reduction" is caused by immoderate diet, it may result in dysfunction of the spleen and stomach in the upper abdomen and then result in diabetes. The "down-reduction" is caused by indulgence in lust, staying up late, keeping in upset, over thinking and worries, and so on, which leads to insufficiency in Gan and Sen [3], and then causes diabetes. (At the same time, it couples with some people's immoderate diet, and the two factors work together.) The diabetes from "down-reduction" is especially common in modern clinic. It's important to note that the high incidence of diabetes is due to not only inappropriate diet, but also indulgence in lust by which there are many diabetes cases. This type of diabetes is of typical characteristics and let me describe it to you.

The first point is the cold of the lower limbs. When one gets older, where does it start with? It's the leg. In the Qing Dynasty, there was a doctor named Ye Tian-Shi, who once said a famous saying: "when a man is old, the lower fundament first gets deficit" What does that mean? It is a person who starts to get old, it often starts at his lower abdomen, that is to say, the area around liver, kidney, waist and leg. There is a type of diabetes characterized by the weakness of lower limbs and the cold feet. What are the attendant symptoms? It is the frequency of urination and the grayish and sallow complexion, which are manifestations of deficiency of Sen Qi and are also called "Yang deficiency of Sen". In clinical practice, I have met many such cases that, when the patients control diet and also take some treatment, but, without abstinence of sex, the blood sugar index still can not fall. Therefore, if it continued in this way, the results would be very serious.

(All footnotes, and bracketed subtitles and texts, in this book are added by editors for reader's convenience.)

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

[1] A group of words corresponding to “Yang" are sun, warmth and light, while it corresponding to “Yin" are moon, pleasant coolness, water, sea, for example, the Sen Yin can be used as the meaning of the water element of the Sen.

[2] The group of words corresponding to “Qi" are gas and air, the function of Qi is as a carrier or maintaining function and vitality of organ, such as the viscera Qi, the lung Qi, the essence Qi.

[3] The main function of Sen is to store the inner essence, control the water element, and have a capacity of Qi, and so if Sen Qi is adequate, lung Qi and breath will be adequate. Besides, a man is born with inner essence, and because of the importance of inner essence, Sen is vital. So, the main role of inner essence is necessary to be mentioned here. First, body growth and development. Second, it may produce the blood and marrow which is connected to brain marrow. When the marrow fills the skeleton, it makes the skeleton and the teeth strong. And as for brain marrow, the physiological function of the brain can be brought into full play. So, inner essence is the most basic material that constitutes the human body and maintains human activity. Third, in fact, the inner essence can be classified into several subtypes, one of which is the essence of reproduction, i.e. the sperm. So, the essence of reproduction is closely related to the inner essence.

  7. Then let me give you a case in clinical practice. This person is an entrepreneur in the tourism industry. He began to suffer from diabetes at the age of 30, a typical manifestation of who was weak feet. When walking, the feet got light and "floating", in China's common words, a "rootless" sole of the foot. The external manifestations of that are grayish and sallow complexion, particularly frequent urination, besides, with "endless dripping" phenomenon. The "endless dripping" phenomenon is actually a manifestation of prostatitis or prostatic hypertrophy, which is common in the elderly over 70 years old. Why is it in this young man who is only 30 years old? In a word, the injury of Sen, i.e. it’s caused by indulgence. After I felt his pulse [1], I found that the two pulse of Chi [2] was very heavy.

About Pulse diagnosis in TCM, there are the words, "Floating, middle, sinking, and Cun, Guan, Chi". One may get the state of Sen from the pulse of Chi, and the Chi is the position below the radial artery at the front side the wrist. If the person's Chi pulse is heavy, thin and weak, it shows that this person is deficient in Sen Qi. When I took this entrepreneur's pulse, I found that his Sen Qi was very deficient, and the external manifestations of him were deficiency of Sen Yang and insufficiency of spleen Yang, according to the theory of TCM, which is called the fire (Sen) cannot warm the soil (spleen). The diabetes which is under this condition are not able to be controlled only by diet control, drugs, insulin and so on. If it continues to develop, it is likely to lead to a phenomenon called gangrene.

What does "gangrene" mean? It’s that if the blood flow of both feet is not smooth, then, for a long time, it will lead to partial necrosis and the ultimate result is amputation. This patient got diabetes since age 30, and when he saw me, he was 40 years old. Hence, it had been for 10 years. According to clinical statistics, 30% of patients with diabetes for more than 10 years can cause gangrene. I told him that if he wants the disease to be cured and controlled, it’s necessary in temperance in sex. According to the teachings of ancient physicians, it’s for at least one to two years for him to be abstinent, and make Sen Qi well preserved, otherwise, his body will be in great trouble. But this person did not listen to my advice at all. He saw a doctor mainly for two points of aims: to treat diabetes and impotence.

Impotence is actually a kind of self-protection of human for Sen Qi deficiency. China’s medicine doctor advocates that people should be in accordance with nature, i.e. a natural health preserving/care regimen. As we enter a cold environment, goose bumps appear on the skin, which is actually a self-protection function of the body. Once the goose bumps appear, it shows that the sweat pores of the body shrink and resist the external chill. This person has been suffering from diabetes for 10 years and has a history of indulgence. Then impotence occurs, and, in fact it is the signal from the body that he is asked to be temperance in sex and protect himself. Instead, he asked me to treat this disease for him, and then encouraged his Yang.

Let's imagine that when we entered the cold environment, our sweat pores may contract naturally. However, this patient asked doctor to prescribe a medicine to relax his sweat pores. What is that called? It is "those who go against heaven will perish." The heaven mentioned here can also refer to nature, and the natural law. In accordance with the laws of nature, the body will be healthy; contrary to the laws of nature, the body will decline rapidly and eventually lead to death. When this man came to see me, he actually wanted to do the thing that "those who go against heaven will perish". I told him that if he wants this disease to be cured, it must be necessary for sex to be in abstinence or temperance, or it’s impossible to be cured.

Then he did not listen to my advice, but also quoted the saying: "with a living life, one must do one’s utmost joy. Don't let this gold cup in vain face to the moon." Here, since there are many entrepreneurs, I will focus on this issue for you and point it out. People have a saying, "men get rich and then go bad, women go bad and then get rich." The "bad" mentioned here, a very important point, is the confusion between men and women.

Now many people, once have money, are pursuing sexual enjoyment, however he does not know that at the same time when he is enjoying, he is jumping into the firing pit. When I talked to the patient about this problem, he said, "Doctor Peng, it's more difficult for you to want me in abstinence or temperance, than kill me, because I..." I won't say his words else. I said, "Well, what you're doing now is going against the heaven, that is, the laws of nature will bind you and be a lesson to you. We shall meet again in a year." "In your case, let me tell you directly that after half a year, your feet will not only be cold, but will be numb. If you still don't take in abstinence or temperance, in another six months, the local blood circulation of your foot will be necrotic, and the final result will be amputation. I put my words here." Then he laughed off and said, "what does sex have to do with diabetes?" I said, "well, let's see the facts."

A year later, he called me, "Dr. Peng, everything you said has come true!" and said, "Three months after I left you, my feet, originally cold, then has got numb," he said. As we all know, this is the manifestation of Yang's beginning to retreat backwards. Looking at life, we can see that children's hands and feet are always warm, even in the cold winter, when children went out barefoot, hands and feet are very red. With the oldness of people's age, Yang Qi is less and less, there will be cold hands and feet, and the next step is numbness.

For the diabetics, if the condition of cold and numb feet emerges, it means that his Yang Qi has begun to withdraw and partial blood circle gets impeded. He said, "after half a year, my feet sensitivity is very unclear." What is "unclear"? It’s that, even though the foot is on the ground, it feels as if the foot is far away from the ground and covered with a thick sponge. This is a manifestation of Qi and blood unable to well reach or flow around the feet, and nerves beginning to numb. A year later, he called me, "what is happening to me now? It's that the two middle toes and fourth toes can’t feel anything, besides, which have started to get black. "

After going to the hospital for examination/test, the doctor told him, "This is called diabetic gangrene. The ultimate treatment is amputation." After hearing the diagnosis, he was very frightened and then called me. I told him on the phone: "Gangrene can be divided into many types, including those caused by the stagnation and stasis of qi and blood, or by Sen weakness/deficiency. The gangrene induced by Sen weakness/deficiency is impossible to be cured, because one used to consume the body too much."

How to explain that? It was when he had impotence a year ago that his body actually warned him that you must ease off, for your essential Qi, and not consume too much any longer. As a result, he did not listen, instead he took some tonics for strengthening Yang and drank the so-called " wine for enhancing Yang " to make Yang Qi consumed more and more. After depletion, the human bone marrow withers. According to the ancients, this is called "bone marrow withering". After human bone marrow withered, things waiting for him are evil fruits. So after he called me, I said it was very difficult to cure. This case is also recorded in Huatuo's medical records. He said that "immortal being" also can’t save such diseases. The final result of this person was to cut off the middle and fourth toes. The situation is very serious. This is the first case I’ve talked about.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------

[1] Pulse diagnosis is one of the four diagnostic methods of TCM. It is a palpation method to observe pulse changes by touching the pulse of different parts of the patient, such as the hand. The formation of pulse is closely related to the viscera Qi and blood state. If the viscera Qi and blood changes, the blood circulation will be affected and the pulse will change.

[2] Chi is a common pulse diagnostic point in the wrist area.

  8. (1.2.2 The sroke)

The next thing I report to you is stroke. There are many reasons for stroke and from the perspective of modern medicine, there are only two kinds of stroke: one is cerebral vascular rupture, the other is cerebral vascular obstruction and spasm.

According to the discussion of ancient China’s doctors, the so-called stroke is actually that the internal "fire element" wells up, leading to the disorder of Qi/Gas in the upper rib cage, and then leading to disease. According to the traditional theory of ancient China’s medicine, apoplexy is Gan fire baking upwards [1], internal movement of Gan wind, or internal disturbance of turbid "phlegm" [2], but there is also an important cause, that is, insufficiency of Gan/liver and Sen.

Sometimes, insufficiency of Gan and Sen leads to Gan failure to disperse, which further leads to stagnation of Gan Qi. If the stagnation of Gan Qi lasts for a long time, it causes Gan fire baking upwards, which burns Gan Yin and then causes deficiency of Yin of Gan, or Yin of both Gan and Sen. On the one hand, it can thus make Gan fire more hyperactive, and on the other hand, Yin deficiency, water element failing to nourish wood, Yin failing to control/deal with Yang, leads to upward hyperactivity of Gan Yang, which thus causes Gan wind element to move inside. The so-called internal movement of Gan wind element refers to the symptoms of apoplexy, such as deficiency of Gan and Sen Yin or inner essence or blood, blood failing to nourish tendons, Yin failing to control/deal with Yang, hyperactivity of Gan Yang, unsteady walking, shaking head and quivering limbs, stiff/obtuse speaking, and even sudden fainting, deviation/slant of mouth and eyes, hemiplegia, etc.

If the Gan wind element carries phlegm obscuring the clean and clear apertures [3], with the mind dizzied, then the one may suddenly fainted, unconscious or in a coma; if wind phlegm intrude the Meridian in the body, it may adversely affect Qi and blood circulation of the side suffered, then leading to hemiplegia, mouth and eye deviation; if phlegm obstructs the root of the tongue, the tongue appears stiff, unable to speak. These kinds of situation are more common in clinical dizziness, headache, stroke, hypertension, cerebral thrombosis, cerebral hemorrhage and other diseases. The treatment is based on the method of quelling Gan and quiet down wind with use of the drink of rhizoma gastrodiae and uncaria, and the decoction for quelling Gan and quiet down wind.

I remember in 2006, when I was a resident physician in hospital, I presented the last respect to three stroke patients at certain night, all of whom died of multiple organ failure. The average age of these three patients, you should note, was about 40 years old, of whom the youngest was 38 years old and the oldest was 42 years old. The next day, while I was writing a case report on the course of death, I was wondering why a stroke tends to be younger. Let’s think back to the 1970s and 1980s, when most of the strokes were in the age 60 and 70, or even not but in the age 80 of a old man. Why are young people nowadays, aged about more than 30, suffering so many strokes and even death? Of course, it can’t be ignored that the diet structure has changed, body fat retention increased. Another cause of stroke, in the views of TCM doctor, is insufficient Sen Qi, also known as insufficient Sen and Gan, of which the most important cause is indulgence in lewdness.

The following case I share with you is my good friend in the publishing industry, an entrepreneur who suffered a stroke at the age of just 32, and whose family name is Sun. When he came to see me, he confidently told me, "Dr. Peng, I am very rich now. I change three girlfriends in half a year." He thought that was something he should be proud of. I said, "you are not far away from the disaster." Why? Because if a person is deficient in Sen Qi, it will lead to a series of "bad consequences", and I will illuminate that in detail in the following. The so-called "evil consequences" are the numerous crisis in physics, psychology, career, family. This man is the so-called social youth elite. He came to see me and wanted me to heal his body and make some reasonable suggestions. As modern people’s living standards raises, the demand for physical condition gets higher and higher. He hopes to adjust his body to a state of balance by TCM treatment. What is the outside manifestation of this person? -The two legs are very thin.

Attention should be paid here, those who have very thin legs and weak lower limbs, from the perspective of TCM, most of whom belong to the ones with insufficient liver and kidney. This man not only has very thin legs, but also walks weakly, and he has "no roots" under his feet. When I feel his pulse, the pulse of Chi is also very heavy. His other manifestation is frequent urination, with going to the toilet about 7 or 8 times a night, which is a very serious manifestation of Sen harmed. When he came to see me, he said, "Please help me solve the problem of frequent urination first, because I need sleep, reasonable sleep, and the next day I have to deal with a lot of things, and such a situation will affect my work." I said, "Okay, but you have to promise me one thing. There's absolutely no coitus during the medication period." He gritted his teeth and said, "OK!" Then I gave a famous prescription called "inducing-fire soup [4]" in the Qing Dynasty by a medical scientist named Chen Shiduo. After taking this medication, his symptoms got relieved in two weeks, with the average two times a night.

Then he said to me, "how do I preserve my body care next?" I said, "the principle of maintaining your body care next is very simple, that is, abstinence for more than a year." As a doctor, I must speak the truth, instead of the pleasant words. Now many doctors, in order to comply with the desires of patients, constantly compromise, in fact, which is a kind of extreme physical destruction of patients. Because this person’s Sen got a serious harm, I told him that at least one year of abstinence, and he can’t have crooked sexual behavior with the so-called girlfriend/mistress, these things will cause great damage to the body.

When I said the words, he is far from agreeing with that. In fact, this is not only to jump into the pit of fire himself, but also to push others into a fire pit. I told him that if you did not restrain yourself, the health would be harmed very seriously. But he won't listen. When I saw him for the second time, there was a very strange phenomenon in his pulse, that was, the Cun pulse on his wrist came to the Big Thenar [5]. This phenomenon is called "Cun pulse passing Cun, stroke can be predicted" in TCM. Once this phenomenon occurs, stroke might happen. Then I warned him, "In this period of time, you must keep your Gan and Sen well, and do not have the behaviors like that any longer. If there is another, stroke is unavoidable, because this phenomenon has already appeared. " He didn't listen. He said, "how can I get such a disease since I'm so young, and don't frighten me." I said, "Then look at the law of nature!"

    ------------------------------------------------------------------

[1] Many of that are caused by un-smooth emotion, liver gloom/depression causing fire, or internal heat evil. The clinical manifestations were head dizziness with the feeling of swelling pain, blushing face with red eyes, dry and bitter mouth, irritability, insomnia or nightmares, burning pain of the ribs and flanks area, yellow urine and constipation, tinnitus, swelling pain and pus in the ear, hematemesis, red tongue and yellow coating on the tongue.

[2] Phlegm in TCM is different from it in common sense. The “Phlegm", human body fluid, is formed from nothing more than water element of grain. If it has been transformed rightly, it may benefit body naturally. If not, it may cause some diseases. The phlegm may be caused by the factors such as wind, coldness, hotness, humidity, dryness and fire, or by inner ecstasy, anger, worry/thought, fright, fear and sadness. As for anyone who suffers from phlegm caused by “fire", the fire should be treated first; as for phlegm due to “coldness", warming the middle should be done first; the wet phlegm should be treated with dryness, and so on.

[3] The seven apertures in the human head, in other words, are two eyes, two ears, two nostrils and mouth.

[4] Sen is the viscera of fire and water element. The Yin of Sen is “primary Yin" and “true water", while the Yang of Sen is “primary Yang" and “true fire". If Sen Yin gets deficient, the fire element will bake upwards. In this prescription, shudi, figwort, cornus and yam are used for nourishing Yin and reducing fire element, while cinnamon, white brassica, and so on, are used for inducing fire element back to the origin, so that it makes fire, caused by deficiency of Yin, back to house, the Sen. Thus, this prescription is called "inducing-fire soup"

[5] The Big Thenar is the flesh area between wrist and the bottom of thumb, while the normal location of Cun pulse is at wrist approximately, as well as Chi and Guan pulse. Especially for the middle-aged and old people, when Cun pulse passes through Cun, then stroke can be predicted.

  9. As I have just said, the statements summarized by ancient sages of China, including those ancient doctors, are all natural laws that can stand the test of history. If you don't want to comply, you could choose whether resort to testing the law on body or not. As the Master Sun continued to do what he wanted to do, half a year later, I saw him again and found that there was a strange phenomenon happened to him: he was so excited that he couldn't sleep at night. When he saw me, there was another woman beside him. This woman was very coquettish siren, which reminded me of the words, "a red face is the water of disaster [1]". We all know that the "red face" in ancient time refers to coquettish siren. There are three kinds of injuries to men by siren: the first is to attract men and consume their Sen essence; the second is to stir up trouble by gorgeous women; and the third is to indulge men in lust and finally lose their sanity and ideals, leading to the failure of life and career.

As we all know, the destruction of many dynasties is related to women. Between Qing and Ming dynasties closed to now, Wu San-Gui, becoming angry for a red face, such a story as a fact like what we talked about above, did destroy a dynasty, not to mention a man. I said to him, "This woman will harm you badly, you should keep away from her, otherwise, you will not be far from the disaster." He did not listen, but also said to me: "I’d managed to earn these money, can't I have an enjoyment?" I said, "such an enjoyment of you is actually excessive indulgence, which is very harmful to your body, and also damaging to your future career and family, and thus, even to the latter half of your life quite badly. If you don't listen now, let's see how the facts develop. Master Sun always continued to lead such a decadent life, and after half a year the phenomenon appeared, with skewed mouth and eyes, hemiplegia, difficulty in balancing walking and inability to close eyes, which is typical stroke. If it was for an ordinary stroke patient, without a deficiency of the Gan and Sen, his walking would return to normal, maybe in a year or half a year, which is called stroke rehabilitation. But, for the stroke of Sen deficiency type, it can’t be recovered in three years. It has been three years for this patient since it began, whose walking is still not smooth and speech is even incoherent, which is exactly the evil result of Sen harmed.

The first thing he said, when he saw me after he had a stroke, was, "Dr. Peng, I regret that I didn't listen to you, which led to my situation now.” I said, "This is called evil lewdness, from which the damage to the body is just too serious. On the one hand, evil lewdness can damage a person's Sen Qi, leading to various diseases of the body; on the other hand, the mood of a person who often harms the Sen is “floating restless”/impetuous, especially easy to lose his temper, and his brain is chaotic, easy to make a variety of wrong decisions, which is called hyperactivity of heart fire, insufficiency of Sen water. Once this state appears in a person, it is not far from disaster, all your career, family, body will be of a variety of bad consequences.

The ancients warned us, "lewdness is the leader of thousands of evils." Why do they say that? For a man, a dynasty's monarch, if he is debauched, the dynasty and the person are not far from ruin. Master Sun tried the law by himself, and the ultimate result was the decay of his career. He was originally in the publishing industry and had a very good performance. Since his stroke, his career has suffered a disastrous decline. Previous women who had grubby relation with him were far away from him and he was alone in the hospital. Every day, the nurses helped him up and out of the bed, pushing wheelchair for his basking in the sun, and he could not speak incoherently even, which is the evil consequences caused by trying the law by himself. I have just mentioned "the red face is water of danger" and now I want to emphasize why I should mention this point.

It’s because nowadays, many women dress themselves up, in fact, into a coquettish siren way. Now a popular word is called "sexy", so-called "sexy", which can arouse the sexual interest of the opposite sex. Dressing one being sexier and more exposed is regarded as beauty, but not ugliness, which is a change in people's aesthetic view. However, the result of this change is very serious: on the one hand, it leads to heavy vicious thoughts, imagination thronging mind of some; on the other hand, the negative impact of her walking in the street is very great, which cause one's mind unable to settle down with many wicked ideas and opinions.

(1.3 The harm to the middle-aged ones and adolescents)

In clinical practice, as a doctor, I especially like to see the various health conditions of people in the society, which is called "seeing, hearing, asking and touching" according to TCM and it’s because the doctor has an “occupational disease”, that is, when seeing any one person, the first reaction is to see what problems this person has, and then, through the face, body, voice, to judge his physical health.

I observed and found that there are several kinds of manifestations, for your reference.

First, many people's eyes are now shifting, not unruffled/calm. This shows that a person's mind is not focused, unclear and unstable. No spirit, no inner essence. People often say “inner essence, Qi, spirit” If a person’s inner essence, i.e. essence of Sen, gets deficient, his eyes must be disturbed, and when he talks with others, his eyes wander around unsedately, without “unruffled/calm capacity”.

Second, many people, at over middle age, now have no strength in their legs and feet, and walk as if they were dragging a heavy body. This is the manifestation of deficiency of Sen Qi.

The third is that many teenagers have very bad complexion on face. What’s it? It's pale face, besides, a bloodless color. When in far distance with him, you will see that his face seems to be covered with a layer of dust; while you look closely, you will find that his face is actually very clean in face wash. But why is there a layer of ash? This actually shows that his inner essence is insufficient.

If a person's inner essence is insufficient, his external spirit is not full and very decadent. Now that we see these middle school students, they’re either pale or like bean sprouts, of whom body is not plump and it’s especially thin. According to statistics, the problem of teenagers in our country is the decline of endurance. Physical strength is divided into two kinds: explosive force and endurance. That phenomenon is just insufficient endurance, with no ability to persist in working for a long time, which is the most serious manifestation of Gan and Sen insufficiency. In modern society, people are unsettled and short-tempered, and have no concentration on doing anything, without unruffled/calm capacity, which is actually the external manifestation of insufficient Sen essence.

We observe the whole society, why does this happen? Now turning on the TV, connecting to the internet, walking in the street, opening magazines, with the un-peaceful and unquiet things we meet and see, there are a lot of easy opportunities to lead to people having evil ideas. This is a very serious social problem, which not only damages a person's body, but also makes people mind very restless and short-tempered. We all know Zhu-Ge Liang's famous saying: "No ambition without indifference, no tranquility without distance." If a person is in an un-peaceful mood, his career will not be long-term and successful: if persons have a lot of evil thoughts in his heart, it will cause great damage to their family, thus, to their life, and even to our entire nation.

  10. (1.3.1 The first case about an adolescent)

Next, I will report to everyone the damage of sexual impulse and sexual inundation to contemporary adolescents. Confucius warned in the Analects of Confucius more than 2,000 years ago that "At one’s young age, Qi and blood is not settled, one’s quitting lies in lust." What does it mean? It is that, when a person is young, we especially need to pay attention not to let his mind be polluted by lewdness, otherwise, it will greatly damage the body and mind of teenagers.

Confucius warned in the Analects of Confucius more than 2,000 years ago that "when you are young, your blood is uncertain and your temperament is in color." What do you mean? It is when a person is young, the whole body is not well developed, and blood and Qi are very unstable. At this time, we need to pay special attention not to let his mind be polluted by prostitution, otherwise, it will greatly damage the body and mind of teenagers.

I have encountered two cases in clinical practice, both of which are lessons of “blood”. The first was a young man I met in my clinic two months ago. The young man, Xiao Ke (a pseudonym), is 25 years old and has just graduated from college. Because I had written a series of articles advising people on Sen essence care and minds purifying and peace, and then published them on the Internet. After watching them, he came to see me. He said, "Dr. Peng, I've gotten this illness for ten years and haven't found the reason. Despite many doctors' treatment, I haven't been cured and spent a lot of money. After reading the article of you, I just know what's wrong with me." When he said this, his eyes became moist. Xiao Ke said, "I used to be, ten years ago when I was in junior high school, the hope of the whole family. Every time I took the exam, I was in the top ten of the class. With me in this state, the whole family had great hopes for me, that, in the future, I would be admitted to famous universities, Tsinghua or Peking University. As a result, in that year I met a friend who took me to one of his classmates' home and watched a yellow video. Since then, I have stained with a very bad habit, masturbation, which has been with me for ten years. Xiao Ke's mental and physical strength has declined dramatically since he got into this bad habit. Half a year later, academic performance fell sharply.

According to the concept of TCM, “Sen hosts bone and produces marrow [1], and brain is the sea of marrow (encephalon). If the Sen is a strong governor, intelligence and skill would emerge.” What does it mean? It’s that if a person's Sen Qi is ample, the brain strength will be good, two manifestations of which: a good memory and a strong thinking ability.

If a person has adequate Sen Qi, he will have good memory, strong thinking ability, and thus good academic performance. Today's education, most of which belong to skill training, is not the real education for people [2]and the so-called skills training, first of all, is to master knowledge, which must rely on understanding and memory. If a person was deficient in Sen Qi and brain strength, his comprehension and memory would decline.

Xiao Ke said, "When I got into this bad habit, I found my brain was as if empty and numb. When I was in class and the teacher spoke there, it was as if acting like a movie to me, but mind didn't follow it any a little at all, besides, my memory declined so much that I couldn't solve the problem." This is his first manifestation.

The second manifestation emerged then, after six months. Xiao Ke was, at that time, the captain of the school football team, with excellent physical strength, very fast running speed and especially strong endurance. Since getting in contamination with the bad habit, masturbation, after six months, his physical stamina declined sharply. Once he acted a little, he would be panting and sweating profusely, which is the most serious manifestation of a lack of primary Qi. We looking back at many young people nowadays, they get in similar situations like that, which, in fact, all have a great deal to do with inner essence harmed.

Xiao Ke said, "After having those two kinds of manifestations, I felt very depressed and didn't want to associate with other people, as well as my classmates and teachers around me. I had myself alone in the house and didn’t want to contact with anyone. My folks then thought I had a mental illness, so they went to see some psychologists to give me counseling.” Xiao Ke said: "After many psychologists gave me counseling, I felt very comfortable at that time, but soon the mood became depressed again." Why does that happen? According to the Inner Canon of the Yellow Emperor [3], that situation is called "living at home alone with the door blocked and the windows closed", which is to describe a person living alone in a small room, the windows and doors closed. This situation generally occurs in people with insufficient stomach Qi and Sen essence badly harmed. So, in half a year, the situation above happened on the young one.

This situation above is not just a psychological problem, but a physiology-induced psychological problem. If the patient's Sen essence was not recovered in sufficiency and if he was not let to give up evil lewdness, his psychology will always be in a dark state. According to the ancients, this is called Yang Qi deficiency. Anyone who has the experience will have the understanding that if the Sen Qi was insufficient, after house affair, one would not want to do the original plan the next day and the original lofty sentiments of ambition would disappear, and if one had planned to write a paper and think deeply in the next day, it couldn’t be carried out. Why? It’s because when a person's Sen essence is insufficient and Yang Qi is feeble severely, a manifestation of decline in execution/action will appear on the body, which is not just a psychological problem. What Xiao Ke has described to me about the situation is the third manifestation.

The fourth manifestation is that the mood is very peevish. He said that while he was reading, sitting at his desk, on his heart was as if growing grass, and he could not read at all. Why is that? According to the theory, if a person has insufficient Sen water element, his heart fire will be hyperactive, thus of course, sitting there, he can't read on and has no unruffled/calm capacity.

Xiao Ke's four above manifestations emerging are unknown to his parents. The case I just mentioned is actually for a wake-up warn to each of you. When you go back, you must take good care of your child and not let him catch these bad habits. Since Xiao Ke got into this bad habit in the 3rd year of junior high school, it had been for ten years that he didn't know what was wrong with him, until he saw my article on the Internet, regretting and getting into insight immediately thoroughly, and came to the clinic to see me. He was very excited then. I said, "Don't be excited! this disease can be cured. You are still young, and first of all you have to be confident and change your bad habits. Second, I will help you and tell you how to nourish the Sen and prescribe Chinese medicine herb for you. Third, you must be filial piety to your parents, because, only filial to your parents, this person's mood is the smoothest, and with a smooth mood once, Yang of body is ample.

The ancients once said, "Lewdness is the first of thousands of evils; filial piety is the first of hundreds of virtues." Everyone here has a small blue cup distributed in your hands. On this small cup, a sentence is written: " The hair and skin of the body is given from the parents, and one dares not to damage it, which is the beginning of filial conducts." If a person damaged his body, it means that he is not filial; conversely, if a person wants to be filial to his parents, the first thing is to keep his body and mind in a healthy state, so, not to worry his parents. Xiao Ke had been worrying his parents for ten years, who went with him to seek medical treatment everywhere with no result. He was touched very much when I said these to the child. I said, "I don't charge money for this diagnosis with you, having a free diagnosis. So you take this prescription with you, then you can get the herb at any drugstore anywhere. Taking these medicine herbs along with the points I just mentioned, of which the first is giving up lewdness, the second is filial piety to your parents, you will surely recover from your illness."

[1] The narrow can be divided into two kinds, bone narrow and brain narrow(encephalon)

[2] It ignored moral cultivation, as wisdom, inner peace and quiet, selfless wishes for every being.

  11. As a result, he did as I said. Two months later, he sent messages to me that his waist got no longer painful. Then his mind began to recover, he began to have energy and spirit, as well as confidence in his work. This shows that, according to the concept of TCM, body and mind/heart aren’t two, body and mind are interactive. Physical problems will lead to psychological problems; conversely, with a person's psychological problems, the body will also appear a variety of diseases. Therefore, the ancients once said that "forms are born from the heart [1]". "form" is a person's external appearance, "heart" is our inner. Forms mean not only the person's face, but also the various manifestations of the body, which all belong to the range of forms, including that of disease.

A person's bad appearance is actually a reflection of a person's inner world that is not very healthy. So, China’s medicine doctor in fact treats people, instead of diseases, because diseases grow on people’s body. Only when a person is physically and mentally healthy can his body recover and be healthy. I treated Xiao Ke and solved his problems which existed for more than ten years. His parents were touched a lot and thanked me. Here, I would like to give the topic extension for you, that is, the third phenomenon of Xiao Ke, which occurs quite a few in China at present. This phenomenon can also be called "urban hermits". Now many young people got this situation, that is, staying at home, do not want to work, do not want to study, do not want to associate, a person stuffy in the room alone, living a life in which food is available by opening mouth and clothes is available by holding out hands, called as "neets".

There are many ones like that in an island country in East Asia. I don't mention the name of that country. In the 1930s and 1940s, the country introduced the Western trend of thought on sexual emancipation, by which the amount of CD-ROMs and books produced ranked first in Asia. One percent of the population in that country is “urban hermits”. The "urban hermit" is a person who has lost the ability to work, live and study, shuts himself in the house, and lives a life of food available by opening mouth and clothes available by holding out hands. According to traditional Chinese medicine, it is a total wreck. It will be beyond help, if the situation of this person develops further. This group of people accounts for 1% of the population in that country, in other words, one million young people in this state in that country.

The hint of this phenomenon has also appeared in China's southeastern coastal areas, and Taiwan and large and medium-sized cities. It can be also seen in Korea. Ancient people once said that if one's Sen Qi is insufficient, he will not achieve much in his future life. Because according to the theory of TCM, the Sen receives the essence of the five the viscera and six internal organs [2] and stores it, that is to say, this person's Sen Qi, like a bank, stores the essence of the body in a safe, and then provides a lifetime for people to apply it, to do business and serve the society. If the deposits in this safe are withdrawn excessively, the quality of life of this person will decline very quickly, that is, premature aging.

(1.3.2 The second case about an adolescent)

Next, I'll read you a letter from a patient. This letter shows that if excessive and premature masturbation [3], the impact on adolescents is premature aging. In the letter, the patient wrote, "Dr. Peng, I want to describe my own history of inner essence harming (which also means Sen harming, the history of masturbation), hoping to give a warning to those who argue the harmless theory of masturbation”. He said, "When I was 11 years old, I slid into masturbation and then ejaculation. I quickly became addicted to the pleasure and couldn't extricate myself. I had ejaculation at most four times a day, for up to eight years.

The patient wrote this letter to me at the age of 19. What's about manifestations? The first is that the bone ache, bone joint ache of the whole body. Sen hosts bone and produces marrow. If Sen Qi is insufficient, the skeleton will be not full and easy to ache. The patient's height, appearance and weight, at the age of eighteen or nineteen, are the same as those of a pupil. His skin is dark, teeth ache, the mouth stenches, hearing is poor, and his intelligence and memory are even weak beyond description. The second is many dreams, dreaming three times a night, the quality of sleep is extremely reduced. The third is that the skeleton of whole body is thin and small, ache, and weak, unable to stand for a long time, more than 15 minute. Fourth, the brain is often dizzy. With a little body turning around it will be dizzy severely, and get nausea, dazed, empty, and often get buzzing sound. The fifth is the extreme decline in thinking, understanding and memory. Patients are now unemployed at home, unable to go on working and learning. The sixth is that the hand often shakes, which means that the Gan is insufficient and the “Gan wind element” is moving inside. The seventh is hunchback, right Sen pain, and the whole spine can not straighten up. The eighth is eye protruding. The ninth is that the hair is dry and sparse. After hearing about these manifestations, one may quickly imagine the manifestations of an old man at the age of 80, but those appear in the 19-year-old.

Last weekend, the teenager's parents took him to my clinic from his hometown. At the sight of the boy, the manifestations that he said all showed up, like a young old man of premature senility. This is the evil consequence of inner essence harmed. This is what I said about the harms to teenagers. I hope you will pay attention to it.

    (1.3.3 A story about a classmate)

Next, I would like to present it to you, the story happened around me. The man is one of my classmates in junior high school. He can be described in the words, "regarding ugliness as fineness". In the winter vacation before the Spring Festival, when our classmates gathered, he told me in front of many people: "Peng Xin, you are studying traditional China’s medicine. You could feel my pulse to see if my body is particularly healthy?" Before I felt the pulse, he went on to say, "I'm very sexually active, which means I'm in good health. You try to feel the pulse." I tried his pulse and murmured to myself, on the contrary, the Sen Meridians was very deficient. This kind of deficiency is like an oil lamp, and when the oil is about to end up, the fire is the most vigorous. He is in this state now. I told him privately that your Sen Qi has been badly damaged. If you don't treat this problem carefully, there will be all kinds of evil consequences and various conditions will happen in physical states in the future. He did not believe it and said, "I am in good health, and I am very young. I am proud of it and often change girlfriends." “It can be said that" I said, "you have to pay attention to this thing, otherwise your body will not recover, and the trouble in the future will not be far away." Because there is a concept of TCM, called "deficiency-induced hyper/high excitement", that is, when a person is really weak, he will be hyperactivity. When a person is really full, he is not hyperactive and always stable. So the ancients have a saying, "full inner essence makes no thinking desire/lust". When a person is really energetic, full of Sen Qi and Sen essence, his desire is very low. Conversely, if the essence is weak/deficient, the desire will be heavy. I said that it’s will be for at most half a year for him with this situation. After half a year, his body would show all kinds of manifestations, and he didn’t listen to me.

[1] Generally speaking, forms mean all external phenomena/manifestations, which can be seen or felt.

[2] Five viscera includes Gan, heart, spleen, lung and Sen; six viscera includes stomach, large intestine, small intestine, triple energizer, bladder and gallbladder

[3] So what about "moderate masturbation"? The point of view of TCM is that moderation does not mean harmlessness. In a word, traditional Chinese medicine is against masturbation and regards it as a bad vice, which will also be reflected in the following article.

  12. The next year, when our classmates gathered again, he sat there, the whole person seeming like wilt. When eating together in the room in winter, he was still wearing a hat, and didn’t wanted to associate with anyone, neither talk with us. That kind of joy look completely disappear. The classmates around me whispered to me, "Peng Xin, that mate lost the hair half a year ago, leaving a bald head. Then the fracture happened twice. When playing ball or riding a bicycle, an accidental little bump by someone else caused the fracture then.

(1.3.4 The reson for the harm to the hair and bone)

According to the theory of TCM, what aspects does one's Sen Qi manifest on? The first is on the hair. The TCM doctors have a saying that "the essence of the Sen show at the hair", that is to say, the essence of the Sen is manifested in the hair. If a person's Sen Qi was insufficient, his hair would fall off, get dry and lose luster. The second is that Sen Qi is expressed in bones. If a person's skeleton is very hard, full, strong, i.e. strong bones and tendons, it means that the Sen Qi is full; if this person often gets bone fracture, easy to get injury in bones and muscles, it indicates that his Sen Qi is insufficient. Because Sen hosts bone and produces marrow, if the skeleton is not strong and full, it implies that his Sen Qi is insufficient. That classmate had bone fractures twice in a year, which is very rare. For young people, no fracture of bone may occur at a slight bump. Nonetheless, it occurred very frequently for him.

I think of a famous Taoist master named Lu Dong-Bin in the Tang Dynasty. Lu Dong-Bin is called the pure Yang in Taoists. He once wrote a poem to persuade the world not to commit evil lewdness: "the beautiful girl at the age of 16 has the spongy body, the sword around her waist is to kill fool man; it may not chop man’s head off, but secretly causes the marrow of one to wither. That's what happens, hence, we look at the life. Some people look fat in shape, but, if weighed on the scale, they weigh very light, which is the first type. The another type is one who is not very fat and strong seemingly, but weighs quite heavily on the scale. These people, who are fat seemingly but in fact quite light on a scale, are actually insufficient in their internal bones Qi, that is, decrease in bone density, and osteoporosis, which is actually a manifestation of Sen harmed. Nowadays, a popular topic about health preservation is calcium supplement. Everyone knows calcium supplement. But all members of a family eat the same dishes. Nevertheless, why do you lack calcium and others do not? It's not because there's no calcium in the meal, but because your body can't conserve it at all. When a person's bone density increases and the Sen Qi is abundant, his skeleton is very full, and his bone density is also increased, as well as his calcium. If a person is insufficient in Sen Qi, then, even if he eats a ton of calcium tablets, he will not store the calcium in his body.

The concept of TCM not only takes into account the level of material, but also the level of energy and information. The whole world consists of three aspects: material, energy and information. Nowadays, modern medicine mainly involves the level of matter, but not energy and information. But it is exactly the matter, energy and information that TCM considers together, which uses a word, "Qi", to describe those. Qi includes all the three aspects. I told my classmates that if a person has insufficient kidney gas, his skeleton will be prone to fracture, and bone mineral density will be reduced, and may get osteoporosis. That mate's manifestation that his bone got broken twice a year and his hair got bald, is Sen Qi fall into decay.

According to the observation methods for diagnosis in TCM, we, as professional doctors, like to observe one's complexion. What kind of feeling does one’s complexion reveal? If the face was pale, grey and dark, and around eyes were particularly black, it would imply that the Sen had begun to become declined. Once that happened to one, in addition, without paying attention to health care, but continuing to consume primary Qi, spirit and inner essence every day instead, within two years usually one will bear Sen decay/weakness, nephritis/inflammation of Sen and dialysis, which often emerged one after another in the ancient medical records.

Yuan Shikai had so many concubines and mistresses, and, thus drained the body away, then the Sen Qi got deficient, and he finally died of uremia. Uremia is a manifestation of the extreme decline of Sen Qi and Yuan is a typical case, which indicates that if you don’t have accordance with the laws of nature, the bad effects will constantly occur, sometimes, directly reflected in your body, in addition, the rate of which will be very fast. There is a saying in ancient China’s sages, that is, "the Tao of heaven bring disasters upon the lewdness, the response of which is quite quick". The Tao of heaven is the heaven Tao, i.e. the law of nature. It is of the fastest rate to let the person of lewdness suffer disaster.

In fact, we know that "there is no gates for the bless or disasters, which are just caused from the person himself". That is to say, the so-called disasters and blessings are not studiously arranged by God, but induced by oneself. This kind of induction is actually wrong thinking, behaviors and practice, resulting in bad physical and psychological state, as well as serious damage to career and family. The series of cases I have just mentioned confirm the edifications and sayings of ancient sages. We look back at nowadays some bad movies and TV dramas, some bad media propaganda, advocating that everyone gets interested in "sex", reflected in expose pictures, ambiguous/multi-meaning words, and explicit lens, so that people's inner is not in peace.

As we all know, for teenagers nowadays, especially the post-80s and post-90s, there are lots of hormones in their food. A few days ago, I saw a statistic in Beijing that the average age of a girl’s first menstruation is 9.2 years old. Thirty years ago, the average menstruation age for girls was 12 years old, which was normal, and that age at now is abnormal, in the perspective of TCM, which is pathological.

Today's children are enhanced to be precocious by hormones! The body develops rapidly and the internal hormones increase. This is an internal problem. Looking at the external environment, we can see the devastation/chaos. Turning on the TV, the Internet and the mobile phone, there are some TV plays, advertisements, videos, pictures and some tabloid news, the contents of which are very ambiguous/lingering and make the inner of these teenagers easy to be in a state of "the chancellor fire stirring crankily". Another misleading is from the textbook, in which is explicitly "masturbation is harmless to health" written, at adolescent education. Together, these three aspects above will lead to many people, walking in the street now, are found to be deficient in Qi blood. I've ever seen the manifestation of bright florid cheeks of teenagers in the 1960s and 1970s, and now in this generation of young people has that disappeared completely. So this is a very big crisis, and for the whole nation, it is a very serious social problem.

(1.4 The refutation to the theory that masturbation is harmless to health, and the importance of the inner essence)

Here, I correct a misunderstanding that masturbation is harmless to health [1], which is written in many books about adolescent health education. This theory is based on the fact that the semen ejaculated from masturbation is composed of proteins, ribonucleic acid and so on, and through analysis from test, these nutritious elements are similar to that of a cup of milk, so a conclusion is drawn that, after a masturbation ejaculation, by drinking a cup of milk or eating an egg one it can be recovered. According to this logic, there seems to be no problem, but there are many in fact. In this concept, it only pays attention to decomposition and the nutritious components from decomposition, but no synthesizing. It is a typical thinking mode of reductionist, which is a method adaptive to some scientific researches, but not all. For example, everyone here can get a CD-ROM after this meeting. The information contained in a CD-ROM is very rich. If you crush the CD-ROM and analyze its chemical composition, you will find that the chemical composition of the CD-ROM is the same as that of a disposable lunchbox. But can a CD-ROM, full of all kinds of information, be of the same value as a disposable lunchbox? Certainly not. Similarly, in a man's ejaculation, a variety of life information inherited in semen are extremely concentrated and convergent, and can’t be compared with milk and eggs.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------

[1] So, in concepts of TCM, that “moderation is healthy” can’t be used in masturbation, TCM regard it as a harmful vice. It's not just TCM that has such a view, and also many ancient nationalities rejected masturbation as a vice.

  13. Semen can be carrying on the family line subsequently. Then ask: can milk do it? The answer is self-evident without saying. So that idea is actually very wrong. The ancients once said, "One drop of essence, ten drops of blood", that is to say, the body’s primary Qi, which is consumed to synthesize one drop of essence with nutrients of the human body, is as much as the primary Qi and the energy to synthesize ten drops of blood. It does not mean that a drop of essence is equivalent to the chemical composition of ten drops of blood.

Therefore, many medical practitioner nowadays are actually misreading the medical works of ancient sages, and they think that what the ancients TCM said is unreasonable, nevertheless, my clinical cases just confirm that. Then this opinion is very wrong.

When the Germanic nation wanted to conquer the world, its governor had made a rule that all men must put their hands outside their quilts while sleeping and not engage in lewdness. They think that, if wanting the nation to become powerful and strong, they must start with that things.

I have a good friend who specializes in dog training. He gives an example, which is also for your reference here. He found that, after one mating, the olfactory sensitivity of the dogs was reduced by half. After mating three times, the dogs would be eliminated directly, with no ability to solve cases. We know that the average IQ of every nation is directly proportional to the degree of rigor to its sexuality. Jews have the highest IQ in the world, among whom German Jews have the highest IQ, with an average IQ of over 130, while the nations with the lowest IQ averagely are some tribal peoples in Central Africa and South Africa, of whom the average IQ is 54. In these tribal peoples, sexual relations between men and women are overrunning and very open. That is actually the most direct reflection of the degree of civilization, physical condition, and intellectual condition. The ancients said that "the tolerant/generous/forgiving are rich, the limpid are noble", where "the tolerant" means that a person, who is very magnanimous, having a comprehensive heart, is "rich" and have wealth; and "the limpid" means a person who is "limpid" physically and in mind. Only when the body and mind are pure, can one consider things thoroughly, have the calm force [1], and enhance the ability of thinking and mastering the overall condition, and this kind of person gets high in social status and is "noble". Richness and nobleness refer to the pure and lofty. The cleaner nation, the higher social status; the more turbid nation, the lower social status, in addition, in a backward primitive state. This shows that the precious wealth left by our ancient sages is very valuable and can stand the test of the times and the nation.

(1.5 Four ways for the harm to the famales by the lewdness)

    (1.5.1 The looks)

I'll discuss with you another topic, that is, what kind of bad effects the women's inner essence harmed will lead to. Although the above focus is about male essence harmed, in fact, harm of that to female body is also very serious, which is reflected by four aspects [2]. Firstly, female masturbation damages the Sen. The most direct external manifestation of this damage is in appearance and I have treated many such girls in clinic. In a letter to me, a female patient said that she got into this bad habit when she was very young, and then one of her external manifestations was that her hair fell off seriously, and her face was acne.

We all know that women like being beautiful, and face acne is a quite large blow to confidence. For women with insufficient Sen Qi, there are several typical manifestations of acne appearing: it was together around below of the jaw, which represents the Sen; second, acne is deep and dark, with a dull color; third, the face is sallow, and especially from the Mountain Root [3], that is, from middle of eyebrows, to around the mouth, it’s all sallow. Once these manifestations occur, it indicates female’s Sen harmed and Sen Qi deficient. This kind of acne is very difficult to be cured and is disfiguring to women.

    (1.5.2 The induced abortion)

Besides, in fact, men are initiative and many women are passive in this society. One of the evil consequences of the passivity is induced abortion, which leads to many gynecological diseases. In the 25-35 age group I met in clinic, 80% of the persons of gynecological diseases have had abortion history, and in every case of all gynecological diseases with abortion history, it is very difficult to be cured. According to modern medical statistics, an abortion can reduce women's fertility by 25%. In other words, four abortions may reduce fertility to almost zero. Now girls, once get pregnant, may suffer abortion or fetal death in the abdomen. We looking into its reason, if there has been a history of induced abortion, this situation is very easy to happen, which is also one of the most fundamental reasons for infertility.

(1.5.3 The harm caused by revealing clothes)

Third, many girls nowadays don't pay much attention to their clothes and expose all the places they can expose. Especially in summer, the back, navel, the Life Door [4] in the back waist are exposed to the outside; even in winter, they wear short skirts and stockings, and expose their legs to the cold wind. These manners, in fact, are very serious damage to oneself. Some women dress like this to express their so-called beauty. They think that so-called beautiful women, so-called sexy, are expressed in this way. Then, let me give you some examples: The first one is for backless clothes. A girl once said to me, "I'm particularly susceptible to have colds and cough very often." I asked her, "Did you always wear this kind of clothes that exposed your back before?" She said, "Yes, everybody wears like that." I said, "Pay attention, when did you wear this dress? It's summer. In summer, the body's Yang Qi spreads out and the sweat pore opens all over your body. In this time, it’s safe for you to wear this kind of clothing in the scorching sun. Now that there is air conditioner in the room, once you enter the room with it, the cold Qi/gas hit straight. Where did it hit? From the back of the acupuncture point of Big Mallet [5], it immediately hits your body, directly, damaging the lungs. If a person has insufficient lung Qi, he will suffer from various diseases in the future, and is particularly susceptible to have colds. This is the first point, the damage to the body by wearing a straps dress. The second one is about wearing low- slung trousers. Exposure of Dan Tian [6] and Life Door, which are regarded as valuable points in traditional Chinese medicine, will result in Uterus Chilled, where the fetus of womb lives. If the house is cold and humid, it is very uncomfortable for the baby to live in it, and even he can't live in it, then there will be miscarriage or stillbirth in the future. Now some women, when pregnant for three or four months, even for six or seven months, get miscarriage even, mainly due to the severe coldness of the uterus, Qi stasis and blood stagnation. The third example is about short skirts, which lead to lower limbs being exposed to the outside. With cold wind blowing, the meridians get obstructed, most importantly the Gan and Sen meridian obstructed. The Gan and Sen host woman's uterus, and once these two meridian get obstructed, diseases happening in future are gynecological diseases, for example, uterine fibroids, adnexitis and so on, and in addition, after 45 years old, rheumatism and rheumatoid diseases will occur.

I ever did a job as an interpreter for a European delegation team in 2003, they mainly inspected the academic research of acupuncture in China. During this process, they observed that an elderly man at the age of 80s, after an acupuncture treatment, got out of table and bent down to tie his shoelaces by self. The leader of the delegation asked me, "How old is this old man?" I said, "83 years old." He was surprised! He said, "In our country, 83-year-olds are at wheelchair pushed by one, you know? As a result, here, we found that many old ladies in China don't need wheelchairs, and they walk very steadily. " This is because China’s and Western traditional cultures are different. Western women wear short skirts (or exposed dresses like it) when they are young, and then are blown by the cold wind, which makes it possible for their feet and legs getting clumsy when they are older.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------

[1] It also can be said as stable force, or settlement force.

[2] Including masturbation, induced abortion, the exposed wearing and promiscuous sex.

[3] The depressed area in the top of your nose and between your eyes.

[4] As its name indicating, an important acupuncture point in the back.

[5] An acupuncture point in the bottom back of the neck. In addition, don’t

[6] The volume in the bottom of inner belly, in about the navel.

  14. (1.5.4 The harm by promiscuous sex)

Finally, if women have promiscuous sex, it will undoubtedly be a kind of suicide. The ancients have a saying, "three semen become a poison, specially injuring unclean women". This means that the semen of three men is mixed together, which is a very toxic poison, specially harming those women who are not clean in the relationship between men and women. This kind of woman can get a kind of disease, in ancient words, called "returning uterus ", in modern words is cervical cancer. It is also confirmed in modern scientific research - a doctor's survey in a prison in the United States found that women who work as prostitutes have five times higher cervical cancer rates than women in other occupations. At that time, I was practicing in department of gynecology, and some prostitutes came to see a doctor there, 80% of whom got cervical erosion, if developed further, cervical cancer, and the possibility of canceration is very high. There are very, very many diseases in that trade. This is actually a manifestation of the body being damaged by opposing the teachings of the ancient sages.

(1.6 The stable theory in TCM, which can stand the test by time)

The next topic I share with you is the difference between TCM and Western medicine. Which one should we heed after all?

Now some sexologists in western medicine believe that excessive sex between men and women does not damage the body. But the ancients of our country did not think so. They believe that people should go with the way of nature in the universe. Sun Si-Miao once said in Thousand-Gold Prescriptions [1] that, a normal man, at the age of 30, may have sexual intercourse (between a married couple) once every eight days, once every 16 days at the age of 40, and once every 20 days at the age of 50, and should not have it again after 60. This is the standard for healthy people [2]. If it’s for the sick ones, they should also abide by this standard and purify the body and mind in peace and quiet. In modern society, in contrary, many people, at the age of 30, have not once every eight days, but eight times one day, of which the damage to the body is extremely serious, resulting in a lot of evil consequences. I often experience it in clinical practice: a 30-year-old person, but, with the 60-years-old diagnostic results of pulse, gets premature aging. The cases like this are numerous.

The concept of TCM is the experience and teaching which has been inherited for five thousand years, and is very stable. In many Western concepts, they consider overturning the concepts themselves as a progress, and the modern textbooks are updated every five years. For example, in the past, western medicine believed that, as long as the tonsil was inflamed, it was recommended that the tonsil should be removed, while modern medical research believed that the tonsil had a good immune function and could not be removed casually. It may be asked that who should be responsible for the children of whom it was removed 20 years ago? In addition, in the past, there was a country where people used to have a baby’s appendix removed as he was born, because they thought it was useless. But modern medical research has found that the appendix is useful, which is a place where many lymphocytes mature and it plays a role in enhancing human immunity so effectively. It should be asked that, who was responsible for the children whose appendices was cut twenty years ago? Through these comparisons, we can find that western medicine is in ceaseless struggles and exploration, and in developing under the condition of wading across the stream while feeling the stones [3], though, TCM is not. TCM has not been changed for five thousand years, which can stand the double test of human and time, and is very valuable. Nevertheless, we do not attach importance to it, or even sneer at it, by which we, as the descendants and offspring of China, should feel sorry for our ancestor.

There are sayings, in Inner Canon of the Yellow Emperor, "Tranquility and nothingness/no concern in heart, true Qi will follow; spirit staying internal, how can the diseases come" "If the desire can't disturb the clear eye, and excess and evilness can't bewitch its mind, and the foolish, the wisdom and the virtuous are not obsessed with and not afraid of things, so, they conform to Tao." "In remote antiquity, people all lived for centuries, and their movements didn’t get feeble." In common words, it means that people should not be taken in by external lust and other desires, nor be polluted by dirty things. In this way, a person can be healthy physically and mentally, and even if he lives to a hundred years old, his actions will not be aging, but will still be dexterous. This is actually the normal physical and mental state of people instead. As China’s people, we have the responsibility and mission to inherit the precious teachings and heritages left by our ancestors, which means, as the saying goes, set the mind for the universe and land, set the life for all the people, sustain the unique accomplishments for the past saints, carry on the peace for ten thousand of eras".

This report is over, thank you all.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

[1] It is written by Sun Si-Miao. who summarized the medical achievements before the Tang Dynasty. There are thirty volumes, 232 sub-aspects, and 5300 prescriptions are collected in the book, which completely puts forward the methods for classification treatment of miscellaneous diseases, mainly in terms of the deficient, concrete, cold and heat of viscera, and collects many medical theories, prescriptions, medication, acupuncture experiences before Tang Dynasty, as well as health preservation methods such as taking wonderfully refined pill, diet therapy, medical practice methods and massage. This book has an obvious influence and contribution to the development of medicine, especially prescription science, in the later generations. It also has a positive effect on the development of medicine in Japan and Korea. In 1974, Japan established the Institute of Thousand-Gold Key Prescriptions, and specially reprinted the "Thousand-Gold Key Prescriptions for Emergency" as the edition in Southern Song Dynasty, praised as "the most precious treasure of mankind".

[2] In addition, like many classical cultures, traditional China’s medicine is also against premarital sex and masturbation. In fact, the first thing these cultures teach us is a basic healthy lifestyle. The frequency above is as a normal standard. In addition, there are also some people who take a practice in inner peace or have Kung-Fu in the life, and have a lower or even seldom frequency in the couples, and these people are in good health as you know, and also they may have more efforts in dealing with their works, learning, studying, and practice in inner peace.

[3] It is an adage, which means that, before one does something, he didn’t have some ready-made theory or experience about it, so he can just try to do it while exploring.

Hello, do you know where is Dr. Peng Xin's clinic located in china ? I have some of the symptoms described in the book and really need help. Thanks.
