I hate it, but lately whenever I spend a nice time with somebody, whether it's friends or family, once it finishes and I am back to being alone...I feel so empty, detached and sad. It's like I cannot allow myself to be happy at least for a single day /: Does this happen to anybody? What do you do to avoid it?
the reason is because when you are around people your mind is distracted, but when you are left alone to your thoughts you tend to think about all the mistakes and things that bring you shame, the only thing you can do to get rid of it is get rid of what is causing you the shame and guilt, if its porn than do a reboot, if its something else than get rid of it.
It might be about your core beliefs, What is going through your mind when your mood swings quickly? Here is an example: I've had good time but everything will suck again (images of past swings and disappointments) -- ask yourself so what/ what does this mean - say about me? -- I have always had this problem and I'll never get over it -- what does this mean - say about me? --My life sucks. Your core belief would be "my life sucks" Anyone who believes their life sucks -- or any other things above -- would feel depressed The problem is not you, but your thoughts! Write them down And provide your belief(s)/ thoughts with evidence both for and against (might be hard to find against but try!) For example: Belief/Thought: My life sucks For: -I have a pmo addiction -I feel depressed all the time Against: -I have a family that cares about me -I am working on my addiction and making some progress -I achieved ... in the past -I met with my friend ... and had really good time At the end Alternative thought(s): Although I have a pmo addiction and feel depressed, I have a family that cares about me and I really had good time with ... You can find more/less evidence on both and create more alternative thoughts Taking the positive facts into consideration will make you feel better *Also once you spot them, you can replace negative mind images that flash quickly with more neutral and positive ones, It really takes conscious effort At the end, it's all about what we tell ourselves! Hope it helps
Woa that is really good advice I will try to put it at test the next time I get overrun by depression. Thank you for that
Wow this thread was something I could relate to, but this is a good explanation as to why I feel that way too.
