So I'm a pretty regular coffee drinker, usually 1 cup most days of the week. The last couple of days I've had a cup especially for a little boost of energy so I could catch up on some homework. I guess I have a pretty average/below average tolerance for coffee as one cup always gives me the boost I need. After drinking it I noticed it provided me with some mental clarity, and I don't know if it's coincidental or if it has some actual correlation to the coffee but my brain felt kinda foggy and slower afterward. Keep in mind I'm only drinking ONE cup per DAY, some days not drinking any at all. Now I don't know if coffee has any immediate effects on dopamine release or it could interrupt the reboot process at all, but it is a thought that has crossed my mind. Thoughts?
I don't think it's that bad but listen to your body. You should be ready to quit coffee any time if it harms you.
Hi there... coffee has had an indirect negative effect on me... If I drink too much and/or too late in the day it can cause insomnia. When my girlfriend and everyone else in the house is sleeping and I can't sleep, that's a real problem for me. Also, too much caffeine and I find I am no longer satisfied with one beer or glass of wine - my alcohol cravings spike and too much alcohol makes it very hard to resist temptation. That's my experience anyway.
Yes coffee does release dopamine, as well as food and pretty much everything else you do in life. This is fine for the reboot as you are not opening up those pathways of addiction like you do with artificial stimulation. The crash you get afterwards is from the caffeine leaving your body, generally when most users need another cup to keep going. How ever if you suffer from anxiety then it might help not to drink it. In general i use it as a tool for times when i need to get stuff done, but try to minimize its use.
Caffeine effects dopamine intensively. In fact, if you want to make rebooting easier, remove the caffeine. You will feel like hell but intense sexual desire will almost vanish.
Caffeine gives me anxiety. I don’t drink coffee but I do love unsweet tea. If I have too much it’s awful. Life is all about balance!
