Being able to relax is vital to make it thru the reboot period. However, I often find it hard to relax. Why?

1.) I always feel like I have to accomplish something and be productive all the time. I can remember being this way since early childhood.

2.) Well, according to my mom and books she reads, I (and my family) may have ADHD. I don't know if it's true. It sounds plausible at times. However, in my case, I think, the symptoms are also strongly related to my PMO past.

3.) For people like us, relaxing is especially difficult. May it be because of our PMO-impaired brains, withdrawal symptoms or simply because we never learned how to relax properly.

So, I had to find ways that help me relax when I need to, even when I don't feel like it. This is what helped me most:

    #1 Jogging

I love running. Always have. I makes me feel free, healthy and it helps me to get my head free. Also, afterwards, I am calmer and have a feeling almost as strong as that after O, only without the guilty conscience. Having a walk can be relaxing too. Of course, going running is not always an option. So, let's have a look at #2...

    #2 A hot bath

It sounds like a women's thing and I used to not like it. But I've found out that when I can't do anything else, this is something that will definitely help me relax. Just lying in the water and feeling it heat my body. Also, it helps with the feeling of having a cold, I often had during the first time after a relapse.

    #3 Rain

Yes, I love the sounds of rain. It helps me calm down even better than music (and I love music!). With the sound of rain, I can fall asleep twice as easy. Pro tip: It doesn't even have to be real rain. Sometimes, before I go to bed, I let my stereo play a recording of rain sound, that will automatically shut down after 20 or 30 minutes.

Of course, there are more, but these are some, that will always work. Maybe these could work for you too?

    Tell me:

What are your favorite "fool-proof" ways to relax?

I would love to know. Maybe I can discover some new ways that work for me too.

Not sure if these are "fool-proof" but journaling has helped me lately. Also taking a stress relief herbal (non- prescription/ non-narcotic) supplement has helped. As well as hot tea. We must attend to bodily cleansing just as much, if not more, than mental cleansing.

you say hot, I say cold! lol. Cold showers, snap me out of my mood. Plus I make sure to exercise before hand so my body is ready for a reward. Instant mood lifter.

Meditation & Weed. I used to be an opiates addict, so even if smoking can be seen as a "bad habit", I consider it an improvement.
Now the problem is : I can very horny after I smoke :(

Meditation & Mediation. Meditation will gradually move your nervous system from being "Sympathetic Dominant".

It takes time, but it is very helpful
