Im on day 45 , Im 25 yo and Im struggling w social anxiety disorder I take meds ,quit drinking n smoking cold turky , Im little better on nofap streak but I hope I will be cured completly .. anyone here is cured of this mental illness ?

  2. I'm 25 too. Today is my first day doing nofap. Actually i've failed for about a year relapsing a lot. But never giving up. I have ADHD and social anxiety. One thing i learned is: If you want a "cure" for social anxiety, you have to overcome your fears and expose yourself in those situations you fear the most. No meds, if they help ok. But they will never cure, for me they never helped. It is all about your state of mind my friend. Your Energy. Everything comes from the inside. Try meditation, at least 15 minutes a day atracting only good vibes and keep up with nofap. You will feel one day that there is nothing to fear and naturaly you will win the battle.

i use to have severe anxiety ,i dont feel any of it anymore, just before i completed a good 140 day NoFap, perhaps each of us need our own personal streak to help us out differently

  4. I would love to be able to say there's a cure to social anxiety (or any other mental illness for that matter) but there isn't. There's control, there's conquering negative thinking, and positive progress, and that's what one could hope for. Personally, after the time I've spent away from Porn and the work I've done on my illnesses, I believe that I can change and reduce my anxiety.

In my opinion, by quitting Porn you're on the right path if you want to progress with your anxiety. I say this because (though I don't know if there's any evidence of it) I believe PMO can contribute to the anxiety.

Congratulations on your success so far, recovery takes time.. Though I don't believe in super powers or cures (in this circumstance at least), I do believe in change and the potential to become a better human-being.

All of the best to you with the changes you're making :).

  5. I don't think it's a mental illness. I am not a professional of course. I think the book release your breaks would help and paycocybernetics. It talks about self esteem and self image and comfort zone through visalivation and affirmations. You get a little better every day.

  6. You just have to be in the mind set of not giving a fuck about anyone else (but still being positive, polite, calm when required). If it is physical fear of bigger people or getting attacked, then you'll have to get stronger , fitter and bigger yourself. Apart from that I can't really help.

  8. What helped me is reading self help books, philosophy, and following the teaching of "gurus". I still have social anxiety but I've come a long way from where I used to be. One thing specific thing was accepting myself for the way I am. Ive always been quiet. I've never liked small talk or talking to strangers. My journey allowed me to stay true to myself and not have to worry about other people's opinion of me. I would always stress about being quiet or weird or not being funny. Now I'm just myself. So it's possible. You can get better. How to deal with people after your anxiety is gone is also a part of it. You gotta be a decent human being as well or it won't amount to much.

  9. i think after a time you are away from P.M, the anxiety reduces dramasticly, but it's still there, even for a bit.
Its more about self-steem, reaching your own goals, doing things that make you a better person, put all that together and you wont feel uncomfortable thoughts about yourself.

Social anxiety is a fear of social situations. Fear of pain, problems, negative experiences, outcomes, messy, awkward, difficult, unideal, and uncertainties that might happen in social situations.

Reality will always consist of both positive and negative possibilities. If you want the chance of positive experiences, you have to risk facing the negative experiences. Different people react to different circumstances in terms of pressure / anxiety. Those circumstances are eventually made not to matter as much anymore by being exposed to them. By being exposed to both positive and negative experiences. Being able to become strong enough to handle the negative and being able to appreciate the positive enough to take more risks in the future. With anything that's beyond your comfort zone, you start off incompetent and insecure. Repeated courage could eventually lead to competence. Repeated competence could eventually lead to confidence and more courage to push further beyond new comfort zones.

The problem a lot of people have is they try to get rid of any possibilities for negative experiences before even taking any action. They try to get rid of how reality works. Via drinking, medication, and other forms of escapism or ways to numb their consciousness. So they stay weak, incompetent, and insecure while reality stays around the same difficulty level. They will always need that crutch because they aren't really facing reality. They're facing it while they're partially asleep or they escape it all together.

Reality doesn't change until you do.

Exposing yourself more to face these situations that you find scary and difficult is the only real way. You can nofap, meditate, cold shower, drugs, alcohol, porn, self improvement, inspirational quotes, motivational videos, research all you want, but reality will still be waiting for you and you'll still be incompetent and insecure with it until you start exposing yourself to it more.

There's no guarantees and never will be. There's no cure. Reality will always be tough and uncertain, but one day you can say "oh, I've faced this before, I can handle it... I'm willing to take more risks because good things happen sometimes."

  11. Though medication can help, it can be done in conjunction with improving the negative thinking which is involved -- and doing baby steps towards the things that make you anxious.

By identifying, countering, and replacing the anxious (or negative) thinking, by writing it down at first and then eventually doing it in your head, you can change the feelings, thoughts, and behaviours involved.

It can be a tough problem, and there's no guarantees as @elevate said above. Very much like with PMO, there will be backwards and forwards steps in order to gain control over it but it can be worth it.

When I do nofap for at least 3 months most of the symptoms go away. Also, meditation helps me too. But I suggest going out and talk to as many people.

  13. Kratom helps me with social anxiety (legal where i live) but gotta be careful with addiction potency. Also clean diet helped me a lot to improve physical & mental health.
Still on my way though, i came from a very low place.

Edit: i stopped taking kratom, i noticed lower back (kidney pain) after using it for a while. I would definitely not recommend it to anyone anymore.

Kratom is great, I would say it is the most efficient remedy, but it has significant disadvantage - it is highly addictive :( I guess most of good meds aimed to fight anxiety are addictive, and they're always available at online pharmacies .. One can't cope with all the stress without qualified medical support, addiction is a dark side of the treatment, unfortunately.

You could try purposely putting yourself in awkward situations. Like go in public and start singing very loudly, or take your clothes off and start doing star jumps.
