Jesus christ mate, you know your shit i'll give you that. Maybe you could explain to me what happened a month back. I went out for drinks with a few friends and unfortunately drunk a little too much.. (Tequila, Jagerbombs and many more..). Next day I woke up I was cured of all my mental symptoms, felt optimistic about the future, felt like I could run a marathon, like my eyes were wide open with endless possibilities. It was like an afterglow of some sort and diminished during the day but I couldn't help feeling like that was the real me that came out. Also to note, my libido sky-rocketted that morning as well it was like I was essentially 'cured' for a few hours. Others on reddit have reported this phenomenon r/hangovereffect. Not advocating binge drinking at all and it should be avoided. But what neurochemically could of happened?
It's got to be something to do with the changes in the dopamine system after consumption of alcohol, it's possible that you experienced what it's like to go back to a place where the receptors are satiated with dopamine If that's the case then one can only surmise that you need more time for upregulation
Alcohol does indeed cause hypofrontality the way pmo does. Please be careful with it. It can indeed cause urges and make you feel as if you're on top of the world. Marijuana does the same thing, as do other drugs.
I know you did not ask me, but you basically got a huge dopamine hit from all the alcohol. Personally, I really starting to think that we need to jump start our brain somehow. (In a healthy way)
Indeed has to do with what you said. I hypothesize that because alcohol activates the ventral tegmental area to project dopamine into our reward center, the dopamine (tyrosine hydroxylase) producing neurons stay active for a while after you drank. This means you get a hightened dopamine release in your nucleus accumbens for a short period of time, untill everything goes back to its old state again. This is just an afterglow indeed. The setpoint of those VTA neurons still remains downregulated. Alcohol did obviously not heal you, but only forcefully hyperactivated the neurons you have left there. All the neurons in the VTA have to be healed in order to make you feel good like that again without drugs. I think its best to stay away from alcohol for a while, because it also works at the VTA. Let the VTA heal.
Well I tell you what, if that was what me being in a state that can be achieved after a while then that is something to look forward to and all of us on here who is struggling as well. I felt on top of the world like I could of done absolutely anything and like I said my libido was through the roof and just felt alive man.
Yeah thats what you could expect to feel after a while. Not as good as that, but good nevertheless. I would also encourage you to stay away from alcohol for a while. Alcohol activates the VTA. Let the VTA heal better, by staying away from alcohol.
Hey brother I hope you remember me. 18 months I'm still in flatline. I remember you, since 1.5 years we are together. Just hang in there Bro. I'm having all those symptoms.
BRO! this is what happens to me every time i drink a lot!! i feel almost normal and all my symptoms go away, apart from the hang over and a little tiredness which is easy to deal with compared to the usual symptoms. I wasn't sure if anyone one here experienced the same thing. I have been wondering about this for long time and i put it down to the fact your body and mind is under no stress and can sleep more deeply.
Your experience is valid but if you had continued the alcohol intake for a while, it would have lost it's magic in no time since you brain would develop tolerance.
I,m on rispiradal 2 mg,s an antiphychotic which has dopimine to help me sleep.and stablelizes my chemical imbalance and sex urges, but it,s not sun resistant so i,m heavily phatighed outdoors during summer.i want a med change but libido will increase ,prostrate go back to normal and semon return, john

Hey man I have been following allot of your posts and can totally relate to allot to your story and your withdrawal symptoms. Like you I am a 30 plus year addict. Sober off and on again over the years. Edging always lead me back to losing my sobriety. I Curretnly I have 109 days no PMO Hard mode. I have had every withdraw symptom in the book from past reboot attempts - most notably insomnia, fatigue, brain zaps, depression, weird pains, eyes issues, ear issues and prostate issues along with severe anxiety ect. In my latest reboot i have been experiencing shortness of breath. This is a new symptom for me. My chest feels like it has a tight band around it and feels like I cant take a deep breath. My anxiety is real bad right now too. I have read that shortness of breath is also a common symptom of anxiety and it also seems like allot of Fapstronauts experience shortness of breath as a with drawls symptoms so that makes me feel better. The shortness of breath particularly freaks me out thou. How long did it last for you ? Did it eventuality subside and has your breathing gone back to normal ? Any insights or suggestions are appreciated. Thank you!
