I think "flatlining" is too poorly defined to be of use as a term anymore...

    Ask ten people what the symptoms, onset, and duration of flatlining are-or even what their experiences with it are-and you'll get ten different answers that are so all over the place that you'll wonder if they're even even talking about the same thing. I think it's time we come to a community-wide agreement as to what defines flatlining; It's causes, symptoms, general time of onset, and it's general duration. Right now it seems "flatlining" could mean so many different things that I prefer to not even use the term anymore. I am not asking what YOUR definition is; but rather how we can come to a community-wide, agreed-upon and more exacting definition of what it is. Thoughts?

    Flatline to me just means low libido, zero sexual arousal & lifeless penis. All the other symptoms are just typical post acute withdrawal syndrome symptoms from drastic changes in the brain.

    Depends on how severe your addiction was. It’s not unheard of for two year withdrawals. Which is a small price to pay in the long term considering many of us have watched porn daily for over ten years.

    We are all to different and lead different lives to have a universal definition, i think.

    There are so many factors that goes into quitting an addiction

    To me it only means zero interest in sex.

    For me it goes a couple days to a week. Then urges come back. Now instead of giving in to urges I’ll find something constructive to do and I’m soon back into a settled state.

    I really don’t want to be sexually aroused at this point. I want that to happen after I have a girlfriend.

    (It’s been 40 F-ing years. I’m actually tired of being sexually aroused. Maybe it sounds crazy to some, maybe to others it makes sense).
