I have read somwhere (maybe it was in the book "your brain on porn") that it may be a good idea to watch some porn for a period of time, (not for too long!) without fapping. The idea is to relearn your mind to not connect porn with orgasm/pleasure. Not so that you can watch it later, but to be less addicted to porn. It does no longer lead to orgasm/climaks..

Anyone who have tried? Any ideas on this?

I don.t think so. Because watching porn will release dopamine and it will affect your dopamine receptors

Great idea! No, wait, let me think about that... No, not a good idea. Not a good idea at all.

Why? Well, you'll either get excited by the porn, or you won't. If you are, you'll end up fapping. If you're not turned on, you'll look for something harder. And end up fapping. I can almost guarantee this.

It's like saying to an alcoholic, have a couple of beers, but no more and as long as you don't get drunk, you'll educate your brain. Won't work.

    Tldr; NO

  4. I've never heard that. Quite the opposite, in fact. If you're quitting, you go all in or else you're still be addicted.

By watching porn, you're keeping the pathways in your brain active rather then letting them break down

I tried this early in the year, definitely not a good plan man. Putting yourself on the edge never works out, you’ll fall eventually. It’s just your mind trying to trick you into allowing it to consume massive levels of dopamine. By watching porn even without M you just strengthen your brains connective pathways to porn.

I cant say much about whether its possible to use this as a strategy to disconnect porn from MO, would be interesting to read scientific research on it.

However, for me I want to stay PM free since my opinion is that porn is diminishing women and is hurting poeple all the way from produced up till consumed and beyond. Therefore, I find it to be a bad idea irrespective of working or not.

    Cheers!

The only solution is to go cold turkey.
You'll stay trapped as long as you keep 'just taking a peek'. I tell you that: personal experience from almost 6yrs trying to quit. Now, for the first time I did almost 40 days COMPLETELY clean and with no withdrawal pangs, no desire to PMO or whatsoever. My life is a thousandfold better, more enegy and drive to accomplish things. Now I don't understand how I wasted so much time of my life on this addiction.

I have been able to reach almost 6 months with no PMO in the past, but that involved taking peeks at "soft" material and edging. I don't advise you to do that because you are just fooling yourself and finding excuses to keep your behavior under the pretext of 'I'm trying but I can't". You'll always escalate and end up doing what you don't want (PMO) sooner or later.

Peace out. Hope my post helps

It's edging which is NEVER a good idea.
Go full PMO if you are able to.
Anything less leaves us vulnerable to slipping back into the bad old ways...
    Good luck

watching porn without fapping still increases dopamine levels so it's a bad idea in my honest opinion. Researches have proven that a 90 day abstinence is essential for the brain to be rewired... If you are doing this and enduring the hardship why not do it whole and complete?
It is harder but that is the price we have to pay for freedom... So I suggest a full abstinence... don't let your mind fool you.
    Good luck.
