I was almost at 12 days no P and I blew it. The full PM and O. I don’t feel bad just defeated. I wanted to do it. I guess folks are right when they say you can’t just quit some of this stuff. For a few days I was not viewing any porn but still dabbling in the am M and O like I could handle it. The abstinence from porn was a good thing. Then just luck that I am back to day one. I guess after over 20 years establishing habit and patterns it was a lot to hope to kick this habit the first time round. What do you guys do when you “ want” to do it in the heat of the moment. I eat right, I exercise. I am getting in shape. Anyone have any secrets to just quitting?

Well, try to stop PMO altogether, your brain is fried from over stimulation, so is mine. Try to replace PMO with something else, video games or reading are good examples. For urges, try to change activities, go for a walk or run, clean your house etc. Some guys have also reported success with vocalising their urges, saying "I am having urges" or something like that, say whatever comes to mind.

Try to think about other things. Most of the battle with pornography happens in the mind, so you need to fight it with your mind. Next time you've got a picture of a woman/man in your head, try to set your mind on something else; something that's inspiring. There may be images that are more powerful to you than to me, but you need to find out what they are. One of the most inspiring things I can think of is the allies storming the beach of Normandy in WW2.

There are images that you can set your mind on that will kill sexual images. You need images than conquer.

Hey, isn't Hitler the one who burned pornography?
Just get a huge poster of him in your room, every time you want to wank just remember that Hitler is watching.

Hey there, glad to see that you are making an effort to change your habits and and lifestyle. Unfortunately there is no quick fix to quitting porn you have to put in the time and effort it may take some people shorter or longer than others but it takes time. I tried the whole no P but MO was okay thing and I failed every time I think for me it just wasnt possible I had to abstain from both P and M to see an actual change. I would say you should definitely invest some time in writing a journal alot of what we do is linked to how we feel and if we just hold all those feelings in we end up turning to porn for a release, I know thats how I am. I can see you are already 9 days in congrats and keep it up, just be deliberate about what you do and be consistent.

Thanks. Good advice. It is something I really want. The reboot, as well as kicking a bad habit. I like what you said about the urges being connected to feelings. I need to explore that further. Thanks again.
