This is a story told entirely with text on imgur. http://m.imgur.com/gallery/ZgufJ Here's the post on r/NoFap that lead me to it: http://www.reddit.com/r/NoFap/comments/34v2go/saw_a_post_on_imgur_that_scared_the_shit_out_of/ Unless your watching very specific genres of porn, you can never know for sure if what you're watching is legal.
All it takes is a mistake or a slip up and your whole life can be ruined. Not to mention addicts treading into child porn to get more dopamine even though they are not pedophiles. According to porn researcher Gail Dines the majority of men in prison for child sex crimes are there because of porn addiction not because they are pedophiles. It's not to say they didn't do anything wrong, they did, but porn drove them to it. Astounding!
@Limeaid, would you happen to know where you saw that article/study? Dines has written so many articles on porn I feel like it'd be tough to find that specific one.
It was actually a youtube video, I will try and find it when I get a chance. In the video it looks like she's giving a lecture with powerpoint screen. I seem to remember it being titled something like "how Johns are made". Meaning how regular men become men who buy prostitutes via porn. Hopefully I quoted her correctly!
Found it! Trigger Warning!!! Some scantily clad women and the occasional porn pic with genitals and breasts blacked out. She talks about men being socialized into sexual deviancy. Very scary, but I believe it is the truth. Of course that doesn't excuse what sexual deviants do, but there is a very good change that they would not have become monsters if it weren't for our culture.
I doubt if some of the porn stars on 'barely legal' sites are 18+. It is also true that not all paedophiles sexually abuse kids and those that do may not be paedophiles.
Downloading stuff without checking it is unwise - no doubt. However, this seems to be more about an outrageously crap lawyer than anything else. He ruined this guy's life!
I'm getting massive chills, this was painful to read. I'll never thank God enough for having quit. Furthermore since the harder I got addicted, the worst what I watched. I can't help but think that this could have happened to me.
Porn colonizes our minds just as thoroughly as the Soviets and Nazis did to their own people. It's absolutely disgusting. Our sexualities have basically become colonies of the porn industry.
I remember watching that video and feeling sick to my stomach. I have two kids and I think I cried myself to sleep more times than I care to count. I just really hope that the dire picture Dines paints isn't the reality. It literally hurts my brain to think about some of the stuff she discusses in this video. I am just so grateful for NoFap and other forums and information sites because the tide is finally starting to turn against this vile corrupt and inhumane industry. If there was any other substance on earth that had the possibility of turning a regular man into a child predator it would be banned.
She is a distinguished doctor. I believe what she says is true as well according to statistics and research.
On that note, we are responsible for our own choices including consuming porn. I do not believe in having your life taken by anything outside your own power these days.
What is the point of that image? Is it implying snuff porn and sex trafficking victims being disposed of? It is just that the porn industry is so mainstream this is like referencing something out of a crime movie or horror story tbh. I do not support porn but the mainstream companies would laugh at this.
I just wanted to point out how good I thought this lecture was. There were a few points I don't agree with; but it really helped open my eyes about how the industry manipulates men. As far as my own struggles are concerned, it helped change my opinion on porn from "I shouldn't look at porn because it's bad for me" to "Holy crap, it's evil." I'm doubly determined to quit now.
