It will only be realized by the actions of individuals like you and me. You can't make other people stop consuming porn, but you can stop yourself from doing so. By doing that, you set an example. If we talk about the positive benefits of a porn-free life in an open discourse (like this forum, for example), we can introduce other porn consumers to the concept of a porn-free life (though, that doesn't mean they will choose to do that, but it's the best we can do).
I'm not saying it's the most practical solution ever (nor that it's the only viable one), or that it's something we might see in this generation, but I am saying it's more practical and more effective than a legal ban on porn.

That doesn't mean it would be impossible to boycott it. It just means it would be very difficult. Massive shifts in moral and practical understanding at the societal level happen. We used to think it was okay to own slaves in the US, but we no longer think that's okay.

I'm glad that you are thinking about ways we can regulate porn to protect vulnerable citizens and I'm glad that you understand why a porn ban wouldn't be an effective solution. I'm also glad you understand the difference between regulating and banning porn.

No, you didn't, but your comment implies that you were calling at least one person in this thread stupid, which is rude. I was just telling you that it's rude to do that and it's not a very good way to make friends. It's also not a very good way to make an argument look convincing. It just makes you look like you have nothing to say that could convince anyone that your conclusions are true, so you desperately resort to insulting people who disagree with you so that you can feel better about yourself. It's pretty childish, really.

No, you didn't, but I don't need to ask for your permission to respond to you on a public forum, even if your comment wasn't explicitly directed at me.

You lost me there. I haven't seen anyone who uses this forum to try to impress 'stupid women'. I thought the purpose of this forum was to build a community of support around porn addiction. Also, I'm not being a 'like seeker'. I couldn't care less about likes on this forum or on any other media platform. I just think you're being rude and I think you should cut it out.

  4. I don't believe in banning stuff.

It's interesting many porn recovery and anti-porn groups like Fighting the New Drug, Reboot Nation, X3 Church and NoFap do not support the banning of porn.

I'm living the country of Turkey and every people here, are using VPN to enter porn sites Because you can't visit a website in here normally. The government banned porn sites. Around the world, a lot of us addicted to porn such a young age like 10 years old, maybe younger but, every person responsible for their lifes. Also you can't reduce the rate of watching pornographic content with banning porn. If you ban something, it become more interesting and attractive in people's eyes. I agree with boycott opinion. A lot of porn recovery websites suggest this. And it sounds me more logical.

  7. This is a fantastic well put together argument. I still am of the personal opinion porn should not be banned. End of the day it is a personal choice.
However your point regarding parenta not being prepared for the internet is a good point. Porn is so easily accessible and I personally feel like my parents and school do not introduce human sexuality in a proper way. Some should be discovery but some should definitely come from an adult. Scare tactics did more harm than good imho.
So from that I do believe there maybe should be some more regulation on how porn is consumed. Maybe it should be regulated in a sense that you are 1st required to have an account to view and watch an introductory welcome/thank you video with nonthreatening info about porn addiction and resources linked.
Then maybe a quick non skippable clip before each first video after login.
Itd be at least a way to inform and provide resources.

No.. it shouldn't be illegal... if someone wanted to brake a habit.. they would do it.... they jus need to grow the balls and man up n stop giving in... banning porn would just ruin it for others

I totally see where you're coming from if you want to make porn illegal because we are addicted to it. But the problem comes when if porn is deemed illegal, what else would be deemed illegal that we're not addicted to but others are. Cigarettes, casinos, food if you're not dying of hunger, driving, flying, etc.... the list could go on forever of what people can be addicted to. I personally would love to see porn of any kind made illegal to be made, distributed, or viewed, but like I said, where would the line be drawn?

    Again, no.

Prohibition never works. Prohibition in every instance without exception MAKES WORSE the problem it purports to solve. Witness the experience in the US with attempting to prohibit alcohol. Witness the present day experience with attempting to prohibit drugs deemed illegal. Witness attempts to ban prostitution. In every case a pathetic, miserable, cure is worse than the disease FAILURE!

To truly ban these or any other so-called vices it would require a totalitarian society so brutally repressive that it would make Stalinist Russia look like a paradise of freedom and liberty by comparison.

  14. Nah this would only make it worse. The intentions might be good but in reality devastating. Look at the result of the war on drugs...

I do think that it should be more difficult to access as there is so much free and easily accessible. Much like sugar tax, it's still there but the deterrent of extra costs will make you think twice. This should then remove some temptation.

It is a controversial subject but porn is used far too much and those involved in the making are the real ones who suffer, just look up the stats it's shocking. So many suicides and people leaving this planet too early just so addicts and users want a quick thrill.
