I have been in NoFap for about a week and often I come across that term, can someone please explain to me what it is?
Substitute for porn. It means things that are sexy but aren't technically porn. If you spend time trawling around social media looking at girls' pics, that's an example of a P sub.
It could be people scantily dressed in underwear or swimwear. Basically, anything that is sexually arousing, but not porn per se = porn sub(stitute).
Is Nofap as a community anti P-subs or is it personal preference. I am keen to give up porn because i think it is damaging and can cause a deviant attitude towards sex. Is masturbating to images of attractive girls/men so bad?
As always, it is for you to decide. Most memebers of NoFap community are against P-subs and there are reasons to dislike it. But it is always your choise whether to do something or not. In my view, if you are unsure then it would wise not to use P-subs to be sure in future that you accomplish your goals.
P-SUBS lead to Pornography! If you see an attractive girls in lingerie and you masturbate, tomorrow you want this girl without lingerie. So you'll go on porn.
I totally get where you're coming from (if you'll pardon the pun!). Going from getting off on bizzare hardcore filth, to a totally tasteful pic seems a huge improvement.... You're getting aroused by 'healthy stuff' right? However I might be streching a bit here but I honestly think masturbating to images of attractive girls/men might be worse for you than hardcore porn. Reason being: Your training yourself to look at an attractive person then start to masterbate. What happens eventually, every time your around attractive girls? Not saying you're gunna go all Pavlovian dog and just whip it out... But you're gunna want to...or at least your body will anticipate its going to happen. It's not a good look....very creapy.
