So I've done a lot of lifestyle adjustments and I do think they all help even if they may seem minor, but especially since so many ask about urges I thought I'd just make this post about what I've noticed so far:

I don't entertain any PMO thoughts for more than 2 seconds.

That's it, get it in the very beginning. It has no chance to grow and develop into a real threat. Pretty much when I notice it's happening I shift my attention away from it.

I will say one thing though, that pretty much rests on the foundation of not caring for anything that's not real ie fantasy.

So do you feel more “in the moment” with these changes? Like do you feel that your staying with your mind in the present and not considering the past or future as much? This is kinda a broad application though haha.

I suppose those thought forms are basically from the past, so I suppose you could say that. Of course it's not specific thought but maybe a typical scenario from a certain genre of pornography, but cutting it short doesn't let it develop.

I just noticed you said changes, if you mean everything across the board rather than the 2 second thing then part of it is not so in the moment. The sleep/circadian rhythm stuff is very much repetitive, but it's getting a bearing on natural patterns rather than heavily conditioned artificial patterns. It's actually kind of hard to stick with because I think like most people I'm used to responding to a screen and responding nature doesn't come as easy now. We're indoors and largely ignore how much sunlight is out for example.

I actually thought what you said about 2 seconds being the window of time was really cool since I had read recently that after 3 seconds a thought can turn into a strong urge really quick. Thanks for sharing!
