Hey Y'all, for me music is a huge boon to fight this addiction. So, I figured I would start a thread to share music that has helped me, and for everyone else to share their helpful tunes. Here are some songs grouped by mood, or content. Depression Part Heart-Kate Nash Happy/Good Days I Feel Fantastic-Jonathan Coulton Be Ok-Ingrid Michaelson Inspirational Recovery-Frank Turner If I Ever Stray-Frank Turner(This song is great.) Where You're Coming From-Matt & Kim Stand My Ground-Stratovarius Addiction etc. Sing in Silence-Sonata Arctica No Light, No light-Florence and the Machine Bonus Of Monsters and Men That is all I have for now. Hopefully you guys and gals help me add more.
Damn bro, I have never heard of any of these jams. I shall check them out. Here is one that really helps/distracts me http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KutXyPEEbQs
On days when the temptations are really bad, I listen to this (warning: excessive length) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SSX86zPnUkY It was written about alcohol addiction and step one of the twelve step program, but it's great music to not masturbate to.
You know, I was thinking about this thread and realized that in all the times I fell off the wagon there was of course no music involved. In my day to day life I love music. I listen Jazz going to work, I listen to New Age, Ambient, or classical music when trying to get my work down without distraction. Music has a nice way to alter one's moods and emotions quit easily. I know from watching P in my earlier days (especially 70s stuff) that's there's all kinds of wonky music that I guess was specifically designed to stimulate that kind of thing and make the viewer forget that he/she is watching actors pretending to have genuine intercourse. Thanks for the suggestions here, this got me thinking about some stuff I can listen to if I get urges. I am thinking something like relaxing guitar playing might do the trick. Sometimes when I listen to just guitar playing I get into a very hazy, relaxed mood and it is a huge anxiety buster.
This may be weird, but I don't know if it will help inspire you, but I've always though the song Giving Up The Gun was about masterbation and giving it up... Somebody listen to it and tell me if you can see that because to me it's about quitting it because it's so bad... But perhaps I'm just fap obsessed.
