Hey guys! I recently got on this site after reading some articles yesterday.

One of the names that was popping up regarded Philip Zimbardo and "The Demise of Guys" who made comments on excessive porn and video games.

I was wondering if there was anybody on here with more knowledge about him, The Demise of Guys or his book which I think is called Man Interrupted.

I also wanted to know a bit more about Ekhart Tolle and his work and if anyone has been trying to apply his theories to better their lives.

  3. Don't know anything about other guys but I have been reading Tolle's books and watching his videos at YouTube a lot. So far applying what he teaches (which in a nutshell is non-attachment, non-resistance and non-judgment though practice of intense presence) had made some decent impact on my day. I feelt less stress, anxiety and most of all while I practiced that, it tremendously helped me to deal with my procrastination problems and made me so much more productive. I kinda have stopped to practice it so much now, gotta get more of that back into my life. But it's definitely good stuff.

Here's just a little clip of Zimbardo speaking at TED:

There are a lot of other videos about it that I may tune it to check about.

Philip Zimbardo is famously known for his prison experiment; I believe he got a group of college students, separated one into prison guards and the others into inmates, the purpose was to test how people respond to authority. It ended short, apparently prison guards would be a little too brutal, or something like that.

Regardless of the exact details, he is well known in sociological circles, and seems to be one of the people pioneering Nofap to the rest of the world right now.

As for Tolle I honestly have never even heard of him, so I'll look him up later.

Theres actually a film based off of that prison experiment that apparently is really good, it's called the Stanford Prison Experiment and you pretty much have the basics of it down.
